ENSURING THE BEST START We have a Wembley Multi-Academy Trust way of doing things that works. We enable pupils and parents to make a smooth transition which is enjoyable and successful. We operate a setting policy and pupils are placed in specially tailored groups to ensure that every child makes maximum progress. Parents can track their child’s attendance, behaviour and achievements online. A dedicated Year Leader is available to make sure pupils settle in quickly, understand the routines and expectations and begin achieving academic excellence. Our behaviour policies are firm and we expect parents to support our high standards of uniform, behaviour and academic excellence.
A SCIENCE FOCUS Wembley High has a vibrant and energetic Science Department with a team of highly qualified teachers who have worked at the forefront of their fields. This has led to outstanding results over many years; in 2019, our progress score of +1.91 was the 3rd highest in the COUNTRY! Pupils master core scientific knowledge whilst also developing their investigative skills which form the building blocks for GCSE courses in Key Stage 4. Almost all of our pupils study for the Higher Tier GCSE and about half of our pupils get the opportunity to study separate sciences. The sciences are the most popular A Level choice for our pupils and we have built a reputation for outstanding results over many years. Our highly qualified staff provide individual tuition to all pupils in Years 12 and 13 and are able to stretch and challenge our brightest pupils to reach academic excellence through additional intervention and support. Our connections with the top universities have allowed pupils to gain experience in innovative research laboratories. Every year, a substantial number of our Sixth Form pupils go on to read Science, Engineering or Medicine degrees at the most prestigious universities.
“Your school’s Progress 8 score of 1.9 which is well above the national average, shows that you are amongst the top 1 per cent of state-funded mainstream schools in terms of the progress your pupils make between key stage 2 and the end of key stage 4.” Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP (Minister of State for School Standards), 29th March 2019

A MATHEMATICS FOCUS Wembley High has one of the country’s leading Mathematics Departments. In 2019, we achieved the 4th highest maths progress score of +1.66 in the COUNTRY. Our pupils progress more between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 than almost any other school in the country! The Maths Department not only succeeds at GCSE but also has been placed in the top 1% of schools nationally for A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. We recognise that having strong qualifications in GCSE and A-Level Mathematics are essential for the best universities and career paths; therefore, we have dedicated resources to ensuring that our pupils achieve the highest possible grades in mathematics. Our pupils participate in various extra-curricular activities including the UK Maths Challenge, STEP/MAT preparation classes, enrichment classes at King’s College, London and Maths masterclasses at the Royal Institute. Pupils from Year 8 through to Year 13 also take part in visits to universities in order to develop them further into well-rounded high-achieving mathematicians.

EAST LANE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Caroline Ellis Headteacher East Lane Primary School
East Lane Primary School is a brand new £12 million build that opened in 2017. Based on the successful model of Wembley High Technology College the school has an ethos of high expectations and strong academic achievement. In November 2019, Ofsted graded the school outstanding in every category and recognised it for its exceptional achievement. The school is heavily oversubscribed, with almost 400 applications for 90 places. We are particularly proud of how well our children develop good learning habits. It is a real pleasure to see our children read fluently, write well and excel in mathematics. We ensure that all our children deepen their knowledge and build upon key concepts and vocabulary in each subject. Pupils gain a real understanding of the concepts in each subject and have a strong base from which to begin their secondary education. Pupils are confident, happy and appreciate the safe learning environment provided by the high behavioural expectations.
“Pupils’ behaviour is excellent, both in classrooms and at playtimes. Pupils are polite and well-mannered. They show great respect for one another, staff and visitors.” Ofsted Report, November 2019
SUBJECTS TAUGHT AT ELPS Subjects taught are: English (Reading, Writing and SPG), Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Computer Science, Art, Music, RS, Spanish, PSHCE and PE. There is a rich programme of SMSC, British values and careers education. The curriculum is further enriched by excellent programmes such as The Scholars Programme run by ‘The Brilliant Club’ and ‘LAMDA’. Trips, clubs, visitor programmes and assemblies all contribute to the learning. Pupils are expected to read at least 30 books per year. We provide these reading books and parents are asked to check and sign their child’s reading record at least once every week. Our expectations are that every child should reach the expected standard for their age, and that at least 50% of our cohorts exceed the expected standard and reach the Greater Depth Standard. Parents have up-to-date information (via the Parental Portal) on their child’s attendance, behaviour and achievements. Parents are also kept informed regularly about their child’s progress. We expect all of our parents to help their children complete weekly homework. At the start of every year, we provide all parents with the knowledge rich textbook ‘What your Year 1 to 6 child needs to know’ edited by E.D. Hirsh.
“Pupils develop in-depth knowledge in all the topics they study. In all subjects, pupils’ work is of excellent quality. Pupils are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their education.” Ofsted Report, November 2019
