Our mission is simple. We settle for ‘Nothing less than positive progress and wellbeing for all.’
Denmark Road High School (DRHS) are proud to be one of the top schools both in the South West and nationally (Sunday Times, ParentPower). This is not an accolade judged by outcomes alone, it is a measure of holistic quality of education.
We live our values. Students are encouraged to Discover who they are, recognising and celebrating themselves and our communities. Through every tailored experience students are prepared for who they want to be in the world; they Realise their health and happiness. We act in Honour. Everyone is known, valued, included and celebrated. Students learn to change and flourish through opportunity, they embrace challenge, they Shape the future for themselves, others and the planet.
“ Students work hard, strive for and achieve success.”

Our curriculum enables students to be ready for whatever they want to be in the world.
Our high quality, broad and balanced curriculum is relevant to and resonates with all our students. We achieve subject mastery through sequential and challenging programmes of study. In Years 7-9 we build the foundation required for GCSE success in Year 11, A Level excellence in Year 13 and to open the doors to Higher Education, Apprenticeships and the world of work.
“ In lessons, it is typical to see students deeply engaged in scholarly discussion.”

“ Students enjoy a rich, stimulating and ambitious curriculum. They encounter a diverse range of voices and perspectives.”

At DRHS we know that subject mastery is achieved through dynamic thinking, the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn. Research by The Sutton Trust has shown that when students understand how they think and learn, then practise and refine these skills, they make better progress, gain in confidence and are more adaptable. We have placed ‘thinking’ at the heart of our teaching and learning, “As a result, students remember and use what they learn confidently.” (Ofsted).

Within the school community each student is a member of a House providing opportunities for students of all ages to work together and support each other. Daily contact with a Form Tutor ensures your child is well cared for and has ongoing, consistent support for their academic development and wellbeing. By working closely with parents, Form Tutors and Heads of Year, we develop strong and effective relationships to complement student progress.
This positive and effective partnership between home and school is a key strength of DRHS and ensures that students’ wellbeing and personal development are outstanding. Specialist staff are available to provide careers advice, health advice and an independent counselling service. Our experienced Wellbeing and SEND teams work with students who require additional support.
“ Denmark Road is an extremely friendly environment. This school oozes warmth and respect.”
