WELCOME TO THE VIBRANT LEARNING COMMUNITY THAT IS

THE ELMGREEN

SIXTH FORM

THE ELMGREEN SIXTH FORM

ELMGREEN SIXTH FORM IS VERY SPECIAL FOR MANY REASONS. FIRSTLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WE HAVE FANTASTIC STAFF THAT WILL ENABLE YOUR CHILD TO MAKE THE VERY BEST PROGRESS.

“Sixth Form provision is a strength of the school.”

Whatever the starting point, we make sure that each young person is pushed and stretched to become the very best version of themselves. This is encapsulated in The Elmgreen Mission Statement:

“Everyone Achieves.”

Working together for this common goal connects everything we do and is best summed up by what we call ‘The Elmgreen Way’. This is especially true in the Sixth Form. We expect every student to make great progress as shown by our exam results. We also expect them to make a valuable contribution to our Sixth Form and the wider school. We are part of a community of schools. As a member of the South London Sixth (SL6), with Dunraven School, we are able to offer a large range of courses so that each student follows a truly personalised path.

When you walk around the school you feel the positive welcoming atmosphere that we are so proud of. Every school will say this but we really believe that there is something different, something special about the atmosphere here. Whether you are an existing student or joining us for the first time in Year 12, we hope you will be proud of ‘The Elmgreen Way’ of doing things.

The Elmgreen School is a special place to learn. It has the highest aspirations and strives for best results whilst also promoting a strong community ethos. I hope that by reading the prospectus, visiting the school and talking to the staff and students you get a sense of what we offer, what we stand for and what we can achieve together. My ambition is that every student who starts on their KS5 journey is able, through our excellent teaching and guidance programme, to go on to the next stage of their development. Whether that be Oxbridge, Russell Group Universities, an Arts Foundation or an apprenticeship. We have the proven track record to make that happen.

ENRICHMENT

ENRICHMENT ENRICHMENT

“Pupils are polite and courteous and positive about their learning. This includes those in the Sixth Form who are particularly proud of their school.”

AN EFFECTIVE SIXTH FORM EXPERIENCE IS MORE THAN ACADEMIC STUDY. WE VALUE EXTENDING THAT EXPERIENCE BEYOND THE CLASSROOM AND STRUCTURE OUR EXTENSION OPPORTUNITIES AROUND THE AREAS OF CREATIVITY, ACTIVITY AND SERVICE.

Opportunities to be creative can add enormous value to studies. We offer clubs, societies and events across the year for students to engage with performance, dance, debating, music, photography, design, film and more.

Our sports and physical activity programmes offer the chance to get involved in football, volleyball, basketball, netball, athletics, trampoline, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Sports Leadership Award and other accredited courses.

Community work is highly valued at The Elmgreen School. Giving back to your school and your local area is important. We offer various opportunities for students including being reading buddies, subject mentors, charity volunteers, lunchtime leaders and sports leaders.

INFORMATION, ADVICE AND GUIDANCE

High quality information, advice and guidance are strong features of our school. Students are provided with a range of opportunities to experience the courses on offer for Further and Higher Education, including key note speakers, university trips and workshops with external providers.

We ensure that the right training and preparation is in place for those students who seek to gain entry to competitive courses or institutions, such as Oxford, Cambridge, other Russell Group Universities or Medical Schools through our tailored ‘scholarship’ programme. All students receive careful guidance on UCAS applications with specialist academic tutors to help them choose the right Higher Education course. All students take part in our Personal, Social, Health and Educational Programme which is designed to develop caring leaders and citizens of the future.
