Welcome to The Beaconsfield School
It is my pleasure to welcome you to The Beaconsfield School. We are a smaller than average secondary school, which means our dedicated staff really know each student well. This in turn fosters positive relationships and mutual respect throughout our school community.
Everything we do here at TBS is underpinned by our five core values, these are Respect, Hardwork, Responsibility, Community and Empathy. Our values inform our whole school approach to rewards and behaviour for learning as well as sitting at the heart of how each member of our school works together, students and staff alike.
We have high aspirations for your child, and we believe that it is our job to ensure your child has high aspirations of themselves too, so that they can thrive both within and outside the classroom.
Should your child choose to join us they can expect a broad and challenging curriculum throughout their time with us and a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities. Developing confident, responsible young people who actively enjoy school and see the value in learning, to secure happy and fulfilling futures is at the heart of what we do as a school.

Providing a Broad Curriculum
Our goal is to equip children to be successful adults in an ever changing modern world.
Our curriculum is therefore broad, balanced and challenging, with staff taking every opportunity to develop students skills of communication, collaboration and resilience. Students study a three year Key Stage 3 programme, which ensures sufficient time is dedicated to English, Maths and Science as well as ensuring students learn from creative disciplines too. Every student studies Performing Arts and Technology and in Year 9 students can personalise an option that is of interest to their own career aspirations.
At Key Stage 4, all students follow an academic core, however our options process is personalised to allow students to follow the right pathway for them as individuals.

Creating Confident Learners
We believe that fostering a sense of confidence and self-belief within our students is one of the most important things we can do to enable your child to thrive.
As a school we seek to do this in numerous ways, some examples include holding annual Public Speaking events, providing personalised careers guidance and seeking every opportunity to praise and reward students for taking responsibility for their own learning. Having the confidence to ask for feedback or to know you have tried your best, irrespective of the grade are the fundamental steps we seek to foster in our students.

Realising Academic Potential
We are unashamedly ambitious for our students.
While school is more than exam results, we are clear with students that working hard is a pre-requisite to being successful in their examinations. In 2024 over 80% of students achieved a grade 9-4 in English and 77% in Maths. All of our students make good progress from their individual starting points.

Extra Curricular Opportunities For All
The school offers a huge range of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities.
This includes over 20 weekly clubs, ranging from sporting activities to Duke of Edinburgh, to reading ambassadors, coding club, Shakespeare for schools and community languages.
Our House System fosters friendly competition between students and staff and provides many opportunities for students to simply have fun while at school. The school provides a range of Leadership roles from Prefects, House Captains to the Head Student Team who represent the student body.

Excellent Pastoral Care
The school rightly has a reputation for nurturing students, each year group has a dedicated Head of Year and a non-teaching Pastoral Support Officer to ensure staff are available to listen and support students as necessary.
The school benefits from a school councillor, and a dedicated Learning Support Space for students to use. We also have a school dog, Bailey who is a welcomed regular visitor here at TBS, providing specialist support for students.
