The Academy Facilities
Alec Reed Academy is a special partnership between Government and private investment benefiting from stunning buildings. The Academy Sponsor is Sir Alec Reed. The Academy campus comprises: • A Day Centre which includes a Nursery for 3 – 5 year olds linked to a 0 – 3 Nursery nearby • A Primary School for 3 – 11 year olds • A High School for 11 – 19 year olds • An Adult Education Centre • A Community Sports Centre • The John Chilton School (Local Authority) for both primary and high school age students with special needs is also housed within the main Academy building.
A typical day in the Primary Phase begins at 8.00am with Breakfast Clubs and lessons starting at 9.00am. The day finishes at 3.15pm after which children are welcome to attend an extensive variety of extra-curricular sporting, learning and creative activities. These clubs are led by teaching staff, specialist High School staff and external providers. All children are encouraged to join activities which will enhance their own natural talents and there are frequent occasions within the Primary Phase day for our youngest children to enjoy these opportunities.
Alec Reed Academy has a distinctive ethos which guides our work and the education of our children and young people. Preparation for adult life underpins our Academy aims to: • Provide high quality education and a thirst for life-long learning with an additional emphasis on the Academy’s specialism of enterprise
• Establish a business-like ethos by beliefs in values and attitudes such as hard work, honesty, respect and concern for others
• Enable everyone to enjoy success and achievement

Partnership with Parents At Alec Reed Academy Primary we recognise the important and ongoing role parents play in their child’s education. We strive to build positive relationships as the foundation for children’s learning within a context of understanding and mutual respect. The first point of contact for parents is always the class teacher who will work in consultation with other key staff to ensure your child enjoys the best possible experience at Alec Reed Academy Primary. We always welcome feedback and the opportunity to discuss ways in which we can work in partnership to improve. Children are encouraged to take responsibility and have a role in the management of their behaviour and that of others.
A Stimulating Education The Academy’s priority is to provide a stimulating, technology-rich education where children can develop the skills to be self-confident problemsolvers and excellent communicators, equipped to succeed in the dynamic workforce of the future.
Alec Reed Academy has a local catchment area and the pupil population comes from many ethnic backgrounds with a considerable proportion where English is not their first language. It is this truly multi-cultural and inclusive educational environment which the Academy prides itself on and from which both children and staff benefit. The Primary Phase Behaviour for Learning Policy outlines our expectations and forms the basis of our code of behaviour which we agree with children each year. We believe in educating the whole child to enable them to develop into confident citizens who can contribute to society.
