REAL LIFE REAL WORK REAL EDUCATION
what is a Studio School? Studio Schools are a new state academy for young people aged 14-19 of all abilities. They offer a dynamic approach to learning, preparing young people with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed in life. Students learn in the real world through working in teams on projects designed to reflect genuine situations, and through weekly work placements with businesses to develop the employability skills needed to succeed in life and work. Studio Schools offer a truly personalised curriculum in a small school setting designed to reflect the world of work. Every student is allocated a Personal Coach to support them during their time at the School and the Personal Coach is the key link between school, home and work.
What is the bath Studio School? The Bath Studio School is part of the Wellsway Multi-Academy Trust. This exciting school which opened in September 2014 delivers both academic and vocational qualifications through project-based work for students entering in years 10 and 12. The qualifications that students can achieve are recognised for university entry and further professional qualifications. Students will leave with a portfolio of real workplace experience and skills that employers look for today. As Executive Principal I can guarantee a ‘whole student’ approach and a commitment to communicating with families and involving them in their child’s learning. Young people will flourish when taught in small classes, treated as adults and offered a personalised approach that identifies and supports their individual development needs. Executive Principal, Colin Cattanach
