“ I love Bromley High because it is creative, musical, sporty and academic – it is an amazing school!” Sasha, Year 8
Bromley High School is part of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust). The GDST is the leading network of independent girls’ schools in the UK. A charity that owns and runs 24 schools and two academies, it reinvests all its income in its schools.
We are a school that is proud of our heritage, our commitment to the education of girls and our ability to do the best for your daughter. We focus on the individuals who make up our community and, supported by excellent teachers and first rate facilities, we identify and nurture your daughter’s developing talents. As a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust we share core aspirations and values with our sister schools. We believe that girls aim higher and do better in an all girls’ environment and we provide the support and challenge to ensure that this happens; to show her what is possible and to make sure that she explores every opportunity presented to her.

Welcome
Your choice of school for your daughter is one of the most important decisions that you will make. We know that there is nothing more important to you than her welfare, her happiness and her progress. With us, she will be an individual. She will leave us a confident young woman, sure about what she wants and what she can do. With us she will thrive; with us she will be someone.

Educating girls Since 1883, under the watchful eye of the largest group of independent schools for girls in the UK, Bromley High has nurtured, challenged and inspired thousands of girls and young women. We are proud that we allow every girl to become the woman that she wants to be; we do not pigeonhole our girls, we show them what is possible, without the limits that might be imposed in a co-educational classroom, and we allow her to shine. Our expert staff know about girls’ education; they will find out what makes her tick, what she is good at and what will challenge her to develop her talents.

Aiming high At the heart of every quality school is an excellent curriculum, taught by outstanding teachers. One that moves with the times, is not frightened of offering challenging subjects, one which instils in its pupils a passion for learning and ignites their intellectual curiosity and one which prepares your daughter for the next steps that she will take.
Pages 4 & 5
We offer a broad base of subjects from the traditional to the novel and we constantly review and question our provision to ensure that it meets the needs of our pupils. Unlike maintained schools we are unencumbered by the National Curriculum and construct the timetable around your daughter’s choices. This provides flexibility for her and, in small class sizes with excellent and inspiring teaching, maximises her chances of success. This will enable her to progress to the university of her choice, to study the subject that she has always dreamed of.

Valuing individuals You want the best for your daughter because she is an individual, with concerns, desires, needs, interests and quirks all of her own. With us she will be treated as such; she will develop and maintain friendships that will last a lifetime in a warm and caring community environment. She will have a dedicated tutor who will get to know you both and work to support her when she falters and to celebrate when she is successful.

Nurturing talents The visual and expressive arts are a core part of what we do both in and out of the curriculum. Our annual Dance Production gives up to a quarter of the Senior School girls a platform on which to dance and develop their choreography skills. Over 25 visiting music teachers offer individual and ensemble music lessons in everything from African drums to xylophone, over 200 girls receive individual speech and drama lessons leading to LAMDA examination qualifications at the highest level each year and our end of year art and DT exhibitions are outstanding. All girls are encouraged to participate and the rich variety of performances, competitions and exhibitions throughout the year for pupils of all ages and levels of ability gives them confidence and pleasure in equal measure.

Participation is also highly valued and all girls have access to a wide range of sports, coached and directed by specialists. Whether your daughter is a talented individual gymnast, a key member of the hockey team or just loves playing rounders for fun, she will have a chance to get involved and to develop her confidence and skills.

Looking outwards

We are a school which is grounded in the community but is constantly looking beyond its perimeter. Overseas trips and expeditions, whether as part of a language and cultural education, a physical challenge or an opportunity to do something useful for those less fortunate than themselves, provide a crucial part of the curriculum and the enrichment activities beyond the classroom. Through a strongly rooted programme of charitable activities (mostly devised and led by the girls themselves) girls make strong connections with those around them and those further afield, developing a sense of personal responsibility, as well as an optimism that they can effect change for the better in the wider world.
“ I really enjoyed our school trip to Windmill Hill. We made lots of new friends and it really gave us the chance to get to know people outside of school. Suzi, Year 7
“ I love Bromley High School because there are so many opportunities, everyone gets on really well and the teachers are always there for you. Toni, Year 10
