Welcome Welcome to Meadow Wood School a caring, supportive and innovative primary school for children with physical and neurological impairment. Set in picturesque, quiet surroundings, our modern facilities provide a safe and secure environment in which each individual child feels safe and happy to develop their abilities and to thrive. Visitors tell us how impressed they are by the warm and happy atmosphere that pervades the school. It is a positive environment in which we nurture happy, healthy children through following our values of friendship, care and respect. We learn through creativity, positivity and understanding and promote our commitment to the community through peace, trust and unity. Children feel at home here and make friends quickly, they enjoy being a part of our warm, caring community. Nathan Taylor, Headteacher

Specialist Support & Provision The Meadow Wood Curriculum develops skills and understanding through a thematic, context based approach which aims to encourage active engagement in learning, strives to be responsive to each learner and builds on individual strengths and interests. We value our outdoor play and separate soft play areas where the children can explore, play and develop their physical skills. Our children benefit from the regular use of our own indoor trampoline, hydrotherapy pool and sensory room. The NHS provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. The therapists work together with our staff to meet the needs of each individual child.
Learning & Progress At the heart of all our work is the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of every child. Our focus is on developing their personal skills, promoting positive health and wellbeing, in order to prepare them for the next stage of education and life. Children do well here, make friends, explore and push their own boundaries, growing in confidence and independence as a result.
“ Parents are rightly pleased with their children’s progress. ‘The school is amazing, we are so pleased with the way our child has improved’ commented one parent.” Ofsted 2013
Our Golden Rules Be kind and listen Be friendly and helpful Try my best Look after the world around me Remember to share
Our Governing Body Our school receives tremendous support from its Governing Body. Their role is to set and sustain the school’s values, aims and principles, supporting the headteacher, teachers and support staff in everything they need; including access to high quality training, so they can deliver an excellent education for the children. Any questions for our Governors are welcomed, and can be directed to them via the school.
“ The good focus on improving pupils’ social skills and confidence is evident in the way they are encouraged to do things for themselves whenever they can.” Ofsted 2013
