Case Study

We could rely on them completely, trusting them to execute all of our requirements swiftly and efficiently.

The Project Opened in May 2014, this prestigious hotel occupying 19 floors of The Shard – the 306 metre tall, iconic steel and glass tower designed by the Italian architect, Renzo Piano, this brand new Hotel offers the ultimate in luxurious accommodation.

The Challenge Part of the London Bridge Quarter development, the hotel is sandwiched between London Bridge railway station and Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital. The location of the site and its restricted access therefore posed significant logistical challenges. The nature of the building – being not only a skyscraper but unusual in shape – and tight completion deadlines added further complications to this prestigious project.

The Solution Co-ordinating the supply of the hotels FF&E and OS&E to the site required meticulous planning. The PPM Logistics team took delivery of items from vendors worldwide, stored them securely, picked them when required and transported them to site. Our staff unloaded and delivered the components to the relevant area according to the design plans.

The Highlights Advance planning of the on-site logistics was a key factor in the success of this project. Manoeuvring items of merchandise – most of which were large and heavy and many of which were extremely valuable – safely, through the goods handling routes into the Shard was a time consuming process. Our staff worked tirelessly to ensure the safe arrival of all items at the precise destination and at the time required.

“I Was Consistently Impressed By The Perfect Blend Of Easy-Going Friendliness And Professionalism That Was Exuded By The Entire Company…I Would Not Hesitate To Recommend PPM Logistics.”
