SUMMER 2018 • Volume 6 • Issue 2
Changing Seasons It was once easier to keep track of the passing seasons; as a builder, time was marked by the inevitable rush of calls after Labour Day for requests to be completed in time for Christmas celebrations (and guests). Then a slower yet steady pace in winter, opening a little extra time to organize and prepare for an influx of calls again come spring. As it becomes more difficult to distinguish the four seasons which we grew up with (did we skip spring this year?), it is also more difficult to predict when there will be a lull in the work. We have been tremendously (and gratefully) busy for over a year and foresee another busy year ahead. Increasingly, the demand to satisfy clients makes it necessary to plan a season ahead. If you have ideas on a project for your home, contact us early on and we can implement a plan to make sure that your project is on our horizon. As they say, good things come to those who wait and we look forward to working with you. Ror y
Modern concrete and steel meet traditional marble and butcher block for an eclectic kitchen.
Heart of the Home Our resident kitchen and bath designer, Catherine, works with each client to create a kitchen which is functional, attractive and tailored to their needs. White cabinets, subway tiles and butcher block are timeless, bright and practical in kitchens so are often repeated but the personality of the owner and the house makes each space unique. Here are a few of this year's favourites.
Century Home with a Modern Twist
Concrete-look ceramic floor tile, industrial sconces, a steel fabricated island and a folding California door to the pool are a perfect foil to the Victorian style farmhouse sink, marble counters, and walk-in pantry, for a young family with modern tastes. The coffee nook and cookbook wall are fun and functional additions and the open shelving shows off an eclectic collection of stylish kitchen kitsch.
Pantry offers plenty of storage and small appliance workspace.
WE LOVE ...
This structure worthy of our outbuilding-obsession in Dunedin near Creemore. Love the symmetry, stone work and brick arch above the doors.
