Dear friend, As we approach the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Chabad Jewish Community Center, I am delighted to present you with a comprehensive Summer Guide of our educational offerings and cultural activities. Throughout the past years, it has been truly heartwarming to celebrate with you, learn with you and grow with you in the magnificent premises of Aspen’s JCC. We are once again excited to offer a variety of youth programs, Shabbat festivities, adult education courses, holiday celebrations, social events, recreational pastimes, and enrichment programs. I am confident that you will find the Jewish Community Center to be a warm, welcoming, cheerful and spirited – not to mention aesthetically
appealing – environment in which to explore and celebrate your heritage while feeling part of a dynamic and thriving community. Among the many attractive features of the Aspen Jewish Community Center is that one is not required to be a “member” to participate in any of our programs at any level. Indeed, we welcome folks of all ages and from all walks of life – regardless of background or affiliation – with open arms and an open heart, as we seek to make our center your friendly “home away from home.” I encourage you to become acquainted with the exciting new menu of programs, services, events and activities that will be offered to the community at large during the JCC Aspen’s upcoming summer season. Furthermore, if you have not done so yet, I invite you to stop by and take a tour of the exquisite facility. My invitation to you and yours is not merely an invitation to bring new meaning into your lives, but indeed to be a part of history! Looking forward to greeting you at the JCC in the near future.
Sincerely, Rabbi Mendel & Lieba Mintz
P.S. If you would like to schedule a tour of the Aspen Jewish Community Center, please feel free to contact me at 970-544-3770 or via email at rabbi@jccaspen.com

My Paintings are inspired by realism, impressionism, and the abstract. The use of oil gives a rich deep tone to the subject matter. As an engineer, painting has helped me realize the extraordinary detail and complexity nature has to offer, helping me to grow and evolve.

This exhibit is intended to be a visual conversation with the viewer, resonating with color, gesture, design and at times, memory. I transpose the pulsing rhythms of windows of New York and the mystery of Nomadic Peoples. Intensely colorful figurative work captures the subject in their own self-expression.

Bari Weiss is an ardent Zionist and award-winning journalist. According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, her writing, “which includes criticism of the right and the left, doesn’t lend itself easily to labels.” As a writer and editor for The New York Times opinion section, Bari tackles the challenging cultural and political issues of our day, including anti-Semitism, Jewish identity and the #MeToo movement. In 2018, she won the Bastiat Journalism Prize for what the judges called “her brilliant, incisive journalism that defends the cornerstone of individual liberty and civil society: freedom of speech.” Bari grew up in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had her Bat Mitzvah at the Tree of Life Synagogue where she personally knew victims of the massacre. Ms. Weiss’s first book, How To Fight Anti-Semitism will be published in September.
