I'm a retired musician, originally from Alpena, Mich. My liver was begging me to quit playing guitar for a living, so I founded Recoil Magazine with my wife and we celebrated our 11-year anniversary in 2012 (for both the mag and our marriage). I was hoping to pride myself on being the last person in the world to join facebook. Alas, chronic insomnia has finally driven me here. I grew up a straight A student, but somehow lost the calling. During college I refused to buy any textbooks and during winter I would spend most school days at a bowling alley playing pinball if I could not find a close parking spot to go to class. I worked like Fred Flintstone in an aggregate quarry to pay for college, where I went on to become one of the few people in the world to exhaustively study the chemical makeup and applications of concrete.
