The activities on offer are a combination of valued favourites and exciting new ideas the team feel will be enjoyed by all.

Minis Holiday Club is a service registered for 3–4 year old children based in Clifton College Nursery. This provides a stimulating and creative environment for young children during the holidays. Qualified and experienced staff will support children to engage in age-appropriate activities with particular attention paid to personal development, interaction with others and, most importantly, fun!

Minis should bring a packed lunch each day. Please note that lunchtime collection/drop off and all afternoon course registrations will be in the Bretten Memorial Hall (situated next to the tennis courts between The Avenue and Northcote Road). Juniors Holiday Club activities are designed specifically with 5–7 year olds in mind. Swimming is an important and enjoyable part of each daily programme and along with other activities, all led by experienced staff, the emphasis is on promoting individual development and, of course, fun. We believe it is important that children are able to pursue interests and develop skills through a range of activities and opportunities. Juniors should bring a packed lunch each day.

Juniors Courses We feel it is important to provide some additional courses for the 5–7 year olds in order to follow our philosophy of personal development, learning and fun. These courses are designed as ‘tasters’ to give an introduction to individual activities. Registration: Bretten Memorial Hall for all afternoon courses. A fantastic opportunity to enjoy outdoor exploration of the landscape. A variety of exciting age specific creative activities linked to the great outdoors will make this morning session rewarding and enjoyable. The typical Kids’ Club day includes a wide variety of activities that 8–13s enjoy. A freetime Swimming session is a very popular part of each morning’s activities. The other three main daily activity sessions are designed with varying interest and ability groups in mind and children can choose from a number of themed afternoon activities that take place both indoor and outdoor around Clifton College’s Sports Centre. Throughout our programme we promote self expression, confidence building and, of course, fun by offering as much choice as possible. Lunch included.

8–13 Years’ Activity Courses We are delighted to offer an extensive programme of exciting, challenging and fun courses providing a chance to try something new or enjoy a regular favourite. Please note that all of these courses have limited numbers so early booking is recommended. Courses will register at Number 1 The Avenue (same building at Kids’ Club) except for the Tennis academy courses which will register at Clifton College Sports Ground, Abbots Leigh. Course leaders will aim to call registers at 9.45am when they will start to gather their groups together. All courses will start at 10.00am and conclude at 4.00pm unless otherwise stated.

Adventure Courses Our popular action packed adventure courses always offer great opportunities to try a new challenge or expand existing interests and skills. Our Outdoor Activity Centre at Clifton College Sports Ground, Abbots Leigh offers not only a comprehensive range of courses this holiday but is also available at times throughout the year for individuals, families and birthday party groups to come along and enjoy an adventurous challenge in the great outdoors. Children should bring appropriate clothing, footwear and wet weather gear. Please note that these courses take place off-site with children travelling by minibus to and from our sports ground at Abbots Leigh and there may be occasions when return to the Registration Point is slightly later than planned due to traffic.

If you love exploring and have a keen eye for adventure then this is the course for you! Your day will include navigating an off-road route on our Mountain Bikes and competing with team mates to find all the check points on our redesigned Orienteering course. Supervision throughout from our qualified instructors.

Under professional instruction at our outdoor range, this day offers a great opportunity for archers of all abilities including those wishing to try this Olympic sport for the first time. Expert tuition combining a range of fun games and competitions will improve technique and have you hitting the gold in no time.

Creative Courses Our creative courses have grown enormously in popularity, mainly due to the expert leadership and innovative course content from our tutors. All of these courses are designed for children and young people to develop existing skills and learn some new ones. As ever, the Cookery and Arts & Crafts courses will produce many masterpieces to take home. All of the courses are open to boys and girls of all abilities aged 8–13 years. We suggest that comfortable, older clothes are worn for these courses as things can sometimes get quite messy.

Explore your creative skills with our professional photographer who will guide everyone through a variety of subjects including equipment, lighting effects and how to make the most of your digital camera. Includes a 2 hour supervised trip to Bristol Zoo offering a wide range of exciting and interesting photographic opportunities to help you build a computer generated display of your best shots. This course will give an insight into the world of fashion and creative textiles. A fantastic opportunity to learn and develop skills that bring designs to life, with the use of a variety of patterns that incorporate cutting and sewing techniques. Create and decorate a variety of projects such as bags, cushions, aprons and items of clothing.

A playful, problem solving day that will involve developing observational and imaginative drawing skills. Young artists will learn paper sculpture and construction techniques and create a big paper feast and costumes.

Work alongside a professional Music Producer and a song writer to learn the art of lyric writing and music production. Come up with themes for songs, write lyrics, play keyboards, produce beats and take away your very own track recorded to CD.

Make your own sketch book and then set off around the grounds of Clifton College to draw. Young artists will learn different methods of book making and spend part of the day going outside drawing and then return to the studio to develop the work. Bring warm clothes for working outside.

This course will give an insight into the world of Floristry. The perfect opportunity to learn how to condition and care for different varieties of flowers and foliage. Our florists will work patiently with you and guide you all the way towards producing a high quality potted Easter scene made from freshly cut, seasonal flowers and a floral pom-pom chick to take home.

An intensive, fun and amazing day filled with singing, dancing and acting. You will learn a routine to a well-known song and a full on musical number. High quality vocal training and guidance on techniques from our own professional tutor to help keep the voice in shape. Explore acting through song and dance, and put it all together in a final, fantastic performance. Participants should wear comfy clothes that are easy to move in. Note our dance studio requires either dance shoes or bare feet.

Sports Academy Courses All Sports Academy courses are open to both girls and boys aged 8–13 years and are run by professionally qualified coaches. Making full use of Clifton College’s top quality sporting facilities, coaches will use tried and tested methods and up to the minute training techniques with particular attention to fun, and will share their first-hand experiences to improve skills, knowledge and game play. Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn for all Sports Academy courses. Spare footwear and clothing is recommended for all outdoor courses. Equipment can be provided but players are welcome to bring their own. All courses will register at Number 1 The Avenue (same building as Kids’ Club) except for Tennis which will register at Clifton College Sports Ground, Abbots Leigh.

Price: £43 including lunch This one day course has been developed specifically to teach the basics of the game covering batting, bowling and fielding in a supportive and fun learning environment. Professional coaches will bring the best out of young cricketers. Note this day will aim to run both as a soft ball course for 8 and 9 year olds and a hard ball course for 10-13s.

Dream of being a pirate? Sights set on an Olympic medal? Aimed at all levels of experience and ability, this course concentrates on the fundamentals of the sport of fencing. The focus will be on the sabre but many aspects will be applicable to all fencing disciplines. All kit is provided. Dress code: loose fitting long trousers or jeans, trainers and T-shirt.

Tennis Academy Dates: 1 April, 8 April Price: £43 including lunch These courses will be led by qualified LTA coaches with many years experience of playing and coaching. Aimed at the beginner right through to the more competent player, group classes will be split and appropriate court size and ball type will be used. Emphasis will be on the techniques involved with groundstrokes, net play and serve. Plenty of tennis development in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. This course will register and take place at Clifton College Sports Ground, Abbots Leigh, BS8 3QD from 1000 until 1600. Please note that only a limited Early and Late Stay service is available. Children can be dropped off from 0830 and must be collected by 1730.

Holiday Club and Activity Courses Parent Guide This is an abridged version for brochure purposes. Our full Parent Guide is published on our website and a copy is also available upon request. Bookings All bookings must be made in advance, with at least one working days notice. We cannot accept children who turn up on the day and are not booked in. All bookings must be made either online at: wwww.ccsl-cliftoncollege.com or on a Booking Form to CLIFTON COLLEGE SPORTS CENTRE, Guthrie Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 3EZ. We are unable to accept bookings over the telephone. We will not accept children on any Holiday Club or course unless payment has been made. Payment is regarded as acceptance of our booking conditions. We accept payment by cheque, cash, credit or debit card and childcare vouchers. Refunds or booking amendments cannot be made unless a minimum 24 hours’ notice is given. A 10% discount is available for Clifton College pupils attending Kids’ Club, Juniors or Minis Holiday Clubs. There is no discount for any activity courses. All brochure information is correct at time of publication. We reserve the right to make changes to the programme in the event of unsuitable weather or other factors which may arise. There may be occasions where we have to cancel an activity course due to booking numbers that are below the minimum set, in which case we will offer an alternative activity or a full refund. Cancelling your booking and payment refunds Providing you give us at least 14 days’ notice before the date(s) you would like to cancel, then we will refund all monies paid, minus a £15 administration charge. If you give between 14 days’ and 7 days’ notice, we will offer a credit to the value of the booking for use on future holiday programmes (to be used within 6 months). If a booking is cancelled with less than 7 days’ notice, then we can only offer a future credit of 50% of the payment made as we will have already confirmed numbers and staffing levels and will be unlikely to resell the place at short notice. It is important to note that we cannot provide refunds for any voucher payments received. In the event of cancellations at any time that have been paid for with childcare vouchers, Clifton College can only offer a credit for future bookings which should be made within 6 months of the cancelled date(s). Changing your booking If you give us at least 14 days’ notice before the date(s) you would like to amend, then you will be able to change your dates within the same holiday programme, subject to availability, free of charge. If you give us less than 14 days’ notice before your booking date, we will endeavour to change your dates within the same holiday programme, subject to availability and a £10 administration charge. However, we are unable to make any changes with less than 24 hours’ notice.

A credit for future bookings cannot be given unless the Holiday Club Administrator has been given at least 1 working days’ notice of non-attendance, due to sickness or any other acceptable reason. Notification must be received by 1000 (10am) for cancellation of any booking the following day. Arrival and Departure Arrangements Morning Registration for Holiday Clubs is at 10.00am and we return to the Registration Points at 4.00pm. Morning only sessions conclude at 1.00pm unless otherwise stated/agreed. Afternoon only bookers can arrive from 1.00pm. Afternoon Registration takes place at 1.30pm. Activity course times are detailed in our brochure but generally they Register at 9.45am. Our early service (8.00– 10.00am) and our late service (4.00–6.00pm) is included in the daily price for all age groups. The latest time for pick up is 6.00pm. We cannot guarantee staffing levels beyond this finish time and pick up after this will incur an additional charge of £20 regardless of reason. If any child has not been collected two hours after this time and we have been unable to contact anyone by telephone, we will call the local social services department who will make arrangements for a social worker to collect the child. Children must be signed in/out by the accompanying adult. We will not allow any child to return home unaccompanied or with another adult unless we have authorisation. Parents/guardians must provide us with written permission indicating if their child is permitted to go home unaccompanied.

Quality & Safety All our Holiday Clubs and Activity Courses operate in safe and secure environments. With over 10 years experience, we have an exemplary health and safety history and child safety is our priority. In the event of an accident, first aid will be administered to children by our qualified staff and the emergency services will be called if necessary UNLESS WE ARE TOLD OTHERWISE. Our staff, tutors and coaches are all suitably qualified for the roles they undertake. Swimming Please be aware our 25m indoor swimming pool has a depth of 0.9m-2.0m. It is not a walk in style leisure pool and entry/exit is via steps at each corner. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to ask. We have a very comprehensive swimming policy. Each child’s swimming ability is assessed on their first day of each holiday. Sickness No child will be admitted if they are showing any signs of illness or infection on arrival. No child should return for a minimum of 24 hours after going sick. If you are unsure whether a child may attend please call us on 0117 315 7666 to discuss and check our Sickness Policy. Clothing and Belongings We cannot take responsibility for damage to clothing and we cannot guarantee the return of lost property. We recommend that children do not bring valuables or mobile phones, as we cannot be held responsible if they go missing.

Concerns and Complaints All complaints, however serious, should always be referred to the Holiday Club and Activity Course Manager. If this route of communication is not appropriate then please contact the General Manager on 0117 315 7664.

Additional Support We recognise that the needs of individual children vary and will endeavour to accommodate children with additional needs within our environment where we can offer appropriate care within our staffing ratio. We are realistic about the limitations of our site for children with additional needs and attendance is considered on an individual basis. Please contact us to discuss any requirements further and to consider what arrangements can and need to be put in place.

Sun Cream We recommend that children bring a sun hat/cap for protection against the sun during the warmer holidays. Sun cream, in a named plastic bag, can also be brought and handed in on arrival. We will help to apply sun cream as required, UNLESS WE ARE TOLD OTHERWISE.

Behaviour We set ourselves high standards and we expect certain standards of behaviour from children. Please support action taken by staff to encourage good behaviour. We should be informed of any potential behaviour issues that would help us to deal with situations in a positive manner. We will not tolerate any form of bullying. If a child feels that they are being subjected to bullying then they are encouraged to report this to staff. All reported cases will be dealt with sensitively and fairly and appropriate decisions will be taken.

Photography Please be aware that we occasionally take photographs/videos of children for our promotional material including our website and publication in future brochures. Children may also like to take photographs of each other to remember their time with us. Please advise a senior member of staff if you have any objections.
