In this publication, we provide several messages on what is, and what is not, in the European Commission’s Draft Taxonomy Delegated Act. Building on our continuous involvement in Taxonomy regarding biodiversity (through the Platform on Sustainable Finance and consultations) our first three messages are: 1) high-impact sectors are left out, despite technical screening criteria already being available for adoption. 2) for some economic activities, a significant share of their environmental impact takes place in the supply chain; that’s why the taxonomy’s definitions of when such activities are considered sustainable need to cover the supply chain. 3) biodiversity offsets cannot be considered significantly contributing to biodiversity protection, as explained and agreed by the EU’s expert group, the EU Sustainable Finance Platform.
