LYON STREET STEPS
PIZZERIA DELFINA
Starting at the corner of Lyon Street and Broadway, the Lyon Street Steps are a beautifully manicured set of steep stairs that span an entire block. Locals love to come here and run or walk the stairs as they enjoy the views.
An off-shoot of the original in Mission Dolores, Pizzeria Delfina brings their flavor of classic wood fired Italian pies to the Northwest side of town. If you like a taste of the Mediterranean, the cheeseless Neapolitana with tomatoes, anchovies, capers, hot peppers, olives, and oregano, is amazing. Don’t miss the meatballs and house-made gelato.

FILLMORE JAZZ FESTIVAL
Alta Plaza is a gorgeous park atop Pacific Heights with amazing views of San Francisco. Great spot to bring some lunch over from one of the many cafes or markets on Fillmore Street, and soak up the sun and city vistas.
This is one of the best summer street festivals in San Francisco. Spanning along Fillmore Street from Japantown to Pacific Heights, local food vendors, artists, and craftsmen line the street, while live jazz music performances go on all day on the various performance stages.

THE PERENNIAL takes environmental consciousness next-level. From the owners behind behind Mission Chinese Food and Commonwealth, it features recycled materials, energy saving kitchen equipment, hydroponically grown lettuces, meat sourced from producers who practice carbon farming, and cocktails served with ice frozen in the bottom of the glass to save waterwaste.
THE BUCHANNAN is a boutique hotel that offers a more personal, local experience to visitors. San Francisco designer Nicole Hollis styled the rooms in the image of a sleek urban apartment. As a result, each of the hotel’s 131 rooms echo the vibe of their stylish neighbors, Pacific Heights and Japantown. With minimalist décor and bold statement pieces, the rooms evoke clean white canvasses, with pops of navy and Japanese shiboriprint accent pillows.

CUBA seems to be lost in time, somewhere in the 1950’s. There’s no denying Cuba’s fascinating, time-capsule quality, with its gloriously crumbling cobble stoned plazas and beautiful faded facades in Old Havana. It’s not just about old American cars in the streets or the exquisite colonial architecture with peeling paint. Instead, it’s a sense that the world of modern tourism has somehow largely bypassed the Caribbean’s largest island.

INNOCENTS AND OTHERS is Dana Spiotta’s new novel, centering on a woman named Jelly who abuses her landline privileges to get into the ears of Hollywood’s most powerful players. When two filmmaker friends get wrapped up in Jelly’s story, things start to get, well, fishy. If you’ve ever binged on MTV’s Catfish, then you’re sure to find something familiar.
ROOM is a film about how a kidnapped mother and son escape from a room in which they have endured imprisonment for the entirety of her son’s life. Upon breaking free from its confines, they experience a dramatic homecoming; provoking insight into the depths of imagination and the extent of a mother’s love.

GOOGLE FIBER may not be the holy grail of Internet service for many, but many people still rely on landlines for everyday communication purposes or emergency use. In order to allow its subscribers to sever connections with the old local ISPs and telecoms completely, Google will soon offer home phone service for Fiber subscribers.
