Rocketfish has Japanese cuisine cooked by Chef Kenichi Kawashima. It’s a pretty laid back place, and I love their happy hour every day between 5-7pm; it has great prices for all appetizers and some special cocktails and sake. Every Tuesday, they have all-you-can-eat sushi! They also do catering and yummy bento boxes, which I often order for our marketing team, and Rocketfish always delivers on time. Kenichi is great!
Pinkies is my go-to nail salon. It’s clean, friendly and high-quality. I love that you pay before polish… it makes so much sense! Keep those nails looking purdy.

This small restaurant “on the Hill” (i.e. on the main 18th Street strip) is packed on weekends. Insiders know that it opens really early, so go on a weekday at 7:30 am and enjoy the fried egg sandwich, lemon ricotta pancakes, and crispy fried potatoes.
This lunch place is relatively new to the scene. Tucked away in that “big blue building” on 16th and Rhode Island (next to Sally’s), their Korean-inspired fare provides ample portions at a reasonable price. With a parking lot to boot, this is a great place for a quick lunch.
