•  With a black mechanical pencil (0.5) draw a line down the centre of the tooth to the end of the root
IDB Technique • Using a boley gauge measure the clinical crown length of the central incisor and divide by 2 •
Refer to the McLaughlin IDB placement chart for the measurements of the horizontal guide line
•  Use the appropriate Zand Gauge to mark the horizontal guide lines on the facial surface, not marking the premolars
•  With a red mechanical pencil draw a line across the facial surface of the premolars and molars connecting the mesial and distal marginal ridges
•  Using the boley gauge measure the distance between the red and black lines on the molars and record the measurement
•  The distance between the red and black lines on the molar is then brought to the premolars and a black line is placed the same distance below the red
IDB Technique • Apply a tinfoil substitute (separator) such as Alcote or Aisler to model and wait until dry.! • Drying can be done quickly by using a hair dryer or compressed air
• •
Next coat the under surface with OpalBond MV! PLEASE NOTE: If using Avex ceramic brackets, a thin coating of OpalSeal must be applied to the base of the bracket prior to the adhesive.
• Place the bracket on the model lining up the midline marking on the bracket with the vertical line on the model and the slot with the horizontal line and repeat with remaining brackets • Do not light cure until all brackets have been placed
!
Place brackets and clean off excess adhesives. Then place models in a black box until final bracket placement is approved by the orthodontist.
•  When bracket placement has been verified, cure directly over each bracket for 3 seconds each with VALO Ortho in Xtra Power mode.
