INTERVIEW WITH GREGOR MATTLI Clinique La Prairie is 90-year old and she has not aged one bit. Moreover, she rejuvenates over the years - a paradox and yet an obvious fact for an institution committed to smoothen the effects of aging. For decades, we have been preserving its flare and liveliness, always driven by an advanced medical research, high-end technological offerings and most importantly, the well-being and satisfaction of our customers. Family business, team work, consistent and unified vision have strengthened our heritage, are driving our present ambitions and will secure our plans for the future. Today, our efforts to slow down ageing allow us to establish a robust pattern of a healthier life and thus promise a better future to our clients. We continue to move forward while always remembering and preserving our roots and our founders without whom this adventure would not have been possible. Clinique La Prairie. In 2021, we are taking Professor Niehans' promise and my father's hopes to the next level. Over time, we have also come to an understanding that efficient Revitalisation program is a sophisticated combination where a peaceful mind and physical health come together with a traditional and alternative medical approach and cutting-edge scientific research. It is with this concept in mind that we create and continue developing our Clinique La Prairie. To Professor Niehans' historical residence with this 19th-century luxurious mansion, we've added an ultra-modern medical center with 50 different specialists and a world-renowned spa containing a range of fifty therapies. It's in these settings, where tradition, modernity and excellence merge, we offer all our passion and expertise to help you forget about time and reverse the clock. In this special year, we also make a promise to you for the near future: to bring us even closer to you, wherever you are in the world.
This anniversary, we dedicate to our founders, the pillars of our big family. Because by relentlessly trying to unravel the body's secrets to lighten the weight of time, we are only following the council and work initiated here, within these walls, 90 years ago, by Professor Paul Niehans, predecessor of the cell therapy. He laid the first stone of this building and brought to life the dream of many - rebirth. When he passed away in the 1970s, it was this legacy and this promise that had to be preserved at all costs. And this became a challenge and a lifetime adventure for my father, Amin Mattli, when he bought this clinic. Since then, generations of doctors and researchers have changed one after the other, striving to improve our rejuvenation techniques, to strengthen the immune system and to preserve longevity. Hence our clinic continuous being a family affair. Very recently, thanks to the epigenetic test, our research teams succeeded in establishing the exact age of the human body. Revealing this essential knowledge, thanks to the contribution of science, is a giant step forward for us and a crucial point for a personalized approach and a targeted solution for every client. Because we believe that a visible and sustained rejuvenation depends on the inner well-being, we have just launched our own portfolio of food supplements called "Holistic Health". Paul Niehans
Paul Niehans is the father of cell therapy and of Clinique La Prairie as we know it today. His passion, humanity and ingenious instinct enabled him to foresee and uncover hitherto undetected mechanisms of regeneration and immunity in organisms, on which he worked to benefit well-being and health. A grandson of Emperor Frederick III of Germany, Paul Niehans was born on the 21st November 1882 in Berne. After taking courses in philosophy and theology, he went on to study medicine, specifically surgery and endocrinology, at the University of Zurich. Beginning his career as a medical officer, he was stationed on the Lake Geneva Riviera during the First World War, where he worked at the hospitals in Aigle and Vevey, and also at a small private establishment in Montreux, Clinique La Prairie.

1930-1940 The 1930s marked the beginning of a story that would span all eras. Dr. Paul Niehans operated in Montreux in a small private establishment, Clinique La Prairie. Since his early days in medicine, Dr. Niehans had been interested in biological research on the ability of cells to adapt.

The notoriety of cell treatments is such that the Vatican becomes aware of them. In February 1953, Professor Niehans was called by the doctors of His Holiness to the bedside of the seriously ill Pope Pius XII. The Pope was cured and the news quickly spread around the world. The world media broadcast the information. More and more people heard about Paul Niehans, the effects of his cell therapy and Clinique La Prairie.
In 1971, Doctor Niehans died at the age of 91. Nevertheless, the strength of his convictions lives on and his work and philosophy remain intact. His successors carry on his philosophy of longevity.

In 1976, Armin Mattli, an accomplished entrepreneur, bought Clinique La Prairie.
The 1980s proved to be a decade of innovation and expansion for Clinique La Prairie. In 1987, Armin Mattli initiated the development of a medical center of excellence and launched a vast scientific research program on cellular extract, soon to be known as CLP extract. This research, based on that of Dr. Niehans, culminated, when the CLP extract, purified and honed, was integrated into the Revitalisation program, which renewed its scientific dimension with the objectives of immunity and longevity.
1990-2000 In 1991, Clinique La Prairie's medical center opened, a state-of-the-art facility with operating rooms, consultation offices, radiology and a cosmetic medicine center. Subsequently, Clinique La Prairie expanded its existing range of services to include specialty consultations, cosmetic surgery, dentistry, dermatology and more. That' s when the clinic adopted its holistic approach. Thanks to this multidisciplinary approach, the clinic is a world leader in its field. To mark the end of this decade, the Foundation for Research on Aging and Immunology was established in 1998. The 2000s marked a new turning point in the history of the Clinic. In 2003, the biological effects of the CLP extract were patented by the European Patent Office in Munich. In 2005, a new wellness building was created to further develop the holistic program approach. The 1600 m2 luxury wellness complex includes 20 beautifully appointed wellness rooms, an indoor pool with a view of the mountains and lake, a steam room, a jacuzzi, a Kneipp course, an ice fountain, sensory showers and floating meditation beds. In addition, the Clinic develops its prestigious environment with 24 new rooms and suites. In 2006, the Clinic celebrates its 75th anniversary and its 30th anniversary under the direction of Armin Mattli. Based on the results of continuous scientific research, the new generation of CLP extract is administered orally from 2008. Theodor Rietschel - Director of Scientific Research has supported the scientific research of the clinic for over 20 years.

2010-2021 In 2011, Clinique La Prairie welcomed Gregor Mattli as its head, continuing the Mattli family's involvement with the clinic. In 2016, Simone Gibertoni became CEO of the clinic under the chairmanship of Gregor Mattli. In 2020, Dr. Heini was appointed Medical Director. In 2016 CLP's longevity method was launched, based on a holistic and preventive approach that targets inflammation, slows aging and boosts immunity using the elements of the ‘four pillars’ philosophy: medical, nutrition, wellbeing and movement. Clinique La Prairie’s method gives guests a unique opportunity to change their cellular environment in a way that will optimize health, strengthen the immune system, benefit the metabolism, support the brain, ultimately building a stronger body and mind. 2018 sees the introduction of the new Master Detox and the Revitalisation Premium programs with the integration of DNA testing, for the first time by a medical Wellness Clinic. In 2019, the Wellness center welcomes even more technologies such as infratherapy, neurostimulation and deep relaxation techniques, including transcendental meditation, vibrations and sounds. Science is also being pushed even further, with the introduction of the Cellular Genomics supplements with anti-inflammatory, immunostimulant and microbiota-beneficial properties. These products, derived from CLP scientific research, have a direct impact on the process of cellular senescence. With the opening of the "Aesthetics & Longevity" Center in Madrid, the "Aesthetics and Medical Spa" in Bangkok and an office in Shanghai, the future of La Prairie will involve international expansion.
