Message from The President The Indian Pharmaceutical Association
Dr. C. Gopalakrishna Murty President The Indian Pharmaceutical Association
As your President, it is a great pleasure for me to invite you all to participate in the Indian Pharmaceutical Association Convention to be held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh on February 19 and 20, 2011. As you all know, the theme for this year’s IPA Convention is Role of Pharmacist in Quality Health Care / Challenges and Opportunities. There is a golden saying which goes “Health is Wealth and taking care of such important subject is of paramount importance to one and all. Pharmacists are employed in regulatory control, drug management, Pharma industry, hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy, academic institutions, training of other health care workers and research. Pharmacist is a well informed person about knowledge in drugs and as he is the most easily accessible person other than the doctor and hence considered as the best health care professional. Pharmacist is also viewed as care giver, decision maker, communicator, leader, manager, life long learner and role model. Pharmacist with all the above qualifications and virtues, skills and attitude should make himself as an indispensable partner and contribute significantly in quality of health care and thus increase the scope of the challenges and opportunities for himself in the very noble profession of Pharmacy. Let us all strive hard to produce better pharmacists which the health care system of our country really requires. IPA Convention gives all of us an opportunity and platform to express our views on the various related issues concerning pharma profession in general and role of pharmacists in quality health care /challenges and opportunities in particular. I welcome all the delegates and request you to participate in its deliberations and make ourselves as better informed and knowledgeable persons in understanding our role and responsibilities. I wish this IPA Convention a great success.
Hyderabad, 12th Dec, 2010.

IPA Convention 2011
Best Regards Dr. C. Gopalakrishna Murty President
Invitation & Welcome by LOC Chairman
Dr. R.A. Sharma Chairman Local Organising Committee IPA Convention 2011
An Association provides a platform to it's individual member where his/her strength is multiplied manifolds. Professionals' Association has vital role in growth of the profession. Meets, conferences and conventions provide an opportunity to individual members come together at one place, interact one to one, review past performance of the Association critically, try to identify the weakness and shortcomings in planning and performance and based on these-- to plan future working of their Association. These events also provide an opportunity of flow of knowledge and information from learned, senior members to youngsters. I, on behalf of Local Organising Committee-IPA Convention-2011, invite and welcome the Pharmacy professionals and Pharmacy students from all parts of the Country, to IPA Convention-2011. All fellow pharmacists and particularly "would be Pharmacists" must participate with focused views, suggestions regarding improvements in status of various fields of the Pharmacy profession viz. Industry, Academia, Regulatory Affairs, Community Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy. The profession is facing toughest time ever. The number of Institutions imparting Pharmacy education has increased tremendously but unfortunately most of these are not up to the mark as for as facilities (faculty and laboratories, both) is concerned. On the other hand, employment scenario is getting worst. Pharma SSI sector is shrinking fast thus reducing job potential for Pharma graduates tremendously. Prevailing practices and norms in the field of community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy-- offer no job opportunities for fresh or even experienced pharma graduates. With such a poor scenario of job/employment opportunities on one hand and availability of huge number of institutions offering graduation and post-graduation in Pharmacy (which is expensive but not of reasonably good quality by and large) on the other hand, the million dollar question is---What is the future of Pharma Profession in India ? So, what are the reasons for current status and what measures are needed for a strong, healthy Pharmacy Profession where a Pharmacist is not afraid of getting a proper, dignified role for him/herself I hope the IPA Convention-2011 will be an occasion of thought provoking interaction to find answers to above questions and will lead to construction of a better model of Pharma Profession for tomorrow's India. Best Regards Dr. R. A. Sharma Chairman

Invitation & Welcome
Dr. S.B.Rijhwani Hon. Gen. Secretary Local Organising Committee IPA Convention 2011
Dear Sir/Madam, I express my sincere gratitude and extend a warm welcome to all the delegates to the forthcoming IPA Convention 2011, at Indore, known for its rich Malwa flavour and hospitality throughout the country and also an upcoming center of excellence in the field of technical education. After the successful first and second IPA Conventions at New Delhi and Chennai, the third Convention will provide a platform to promulgate knowledge and facilitate sharing of new ideas among the pharmacy professionals and students, as well as to discuss about the global norms and standards to be followed by pharmacists to contribute towards a better healthcare system. The theme of this Convention will be “Role of Pharmacists in Quality Healthcare – Challenges and Opportunities.” It will be coupled with Madhya Pradesh Pharma Meet 2011, which is a regular event of the IPA, MP State Branch, Indore. Scientific Conventions provide a broad forum for enhancing knowledge and acquiring oneself with recent updates in any field. Pharmaceutical Sciences are also witnessing a myriad changes and various break through developments have been made in the last few years, especially in the field of providing better healthcare. The Convention will definitely provide us an idea about a number of such developments. It gives me a great pleasure to invite the distinguished galaxy of speakers from academics and industry who have honored us by consenting to be part of the Convention. The entire scientific Convention will be carried out under the able governance of Dr. R. S. Gaud, Dean, School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, Narsee Monjee University, Mumbai.
