CLME Project

The Caribbean Large Marine Ecosystem (CLME) Project assists participating countries to improve governance arrangements for shared Living Marine Resources, through the implementation of an Ecosystem-Based Approach. Transboundary Diagnostic Analyses (TDA´s) identified 3 priority issues that affect the CLME and adjacent regions. 1.Unsustainable exploitation of fish and other living marine resources 2.Habitat degradation 3.Pollution The TDA´s serve as the science basis for the development of a Strategic Action Programme (SAP), which will document the priority policy, legal and institutional reforms and key investments required to ensure the sustainable provision of goods and services from living marine resources in the wider Caribbean. Improved ecosystem conditions in the CLME as a consequence of SAP implementation are expected to result in substantial socio-economic benefits for the Caribbean people
