The river Suir and tributaries are famed worldwide for their excellent dry fly fishing for wild brown trout. These challenging and exciting rivers offer unparalled fishing for native brown trout in beautiful Irish country side. Clonanav has a range of private beats on the river Suir and tributaries.

The River Suir

Irelands’ second longest river and world famous for its dry fly fishing. It is a wide (30m/100ft) limestone river/spring creek flowing for 114 miles to the sea at Waterford port. The river has easy access and wading is a pleasure with a level gravel bottom. The Suir is a fly fishing paradise with large numbers of free rising brown trout. The trout range in size from 8 to 16 inches with many numbers of larger fish. We regularly land fish in the 20+ inch size. A technical and challenging river to fish, the Suir should be on every anglers bucket list!

the river Nire

A tributary of the river Suir, the Nire is a crystal clear mountain stream which flows from the comeragh mountains through the beautiful Nire Valley. A fast flowing river with many large deep pools this river has large numbers of native brown trout. With lots of tree cover it fishes well even on warm sunny days. It is just 500 m from Clonanav Fly Fishing, Tactics for this river include dry fly, nymph fishing and our most popular NZ style with a combination of dry and dropper. The fish range in size from 8 to 16 inches with an occasional larger fish.

The River Tar

Another gin clear river which flows over large ranunculus beds and has been compared to the river Itchen in southern England. This river is a dry fly gem and offers fantastic sport on tiny dry flies and nymphs. Fish are plentiful but tend to be smaller than the other rivers, however larger fish are not uncommon. The shallow nature of the river means that dry fly fishing tends to suffice with little need for nymph fishing, making this river a purists dream!.

Andrew Ryan is one of Irelandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s best known fly fishing instructors and guides. Owner of Clonanav Fly Fishing School and Shop he has been guiding for over 20 years on the river Suir and tributaries. He first qualified as a REFFIS Instructor in 1993 at the age of only 18; one of the youngest instructors to ever be awarded the qualification. Andrew Ryan is a member of APGAI â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Ireland, and holds the FFF Masters and THCI which are the highest casting instruction qualifications in the world.

Sintrix ®

SINTRIX® TECHNOLOGY: IT’S THE SMALL THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE. Never has that statement held more truth than with the development of SINTRIX® technology. All carbon rods utilise carbon fibres that are bonded together by an adhesive resin. The resin material used in SINTRIX® is produced by 3M®, it is a unique and patented material incorporating silica nano spheres which provides two distinct benefits. Firstly the microscopic silica spheres are able to evenly surround every individual carbon fibre filament providing a matrix of strength throughout the rod. Secondly, being spherical, the silica particles are able to resist pressure and compression from any angle. This is particularly important because it is under compression forces, on the underside of a bent rod, rather than tension forces, on the outside of the curve, that carbon fibre is most likely to weaken and potentially break. So by resisting compression better, SINTRIX® rods are stronger.

We won’t always be able to help but we’ll certainly try our best. When can I get my new gear? You tell us what you what want to buy and we’ll make sure that we can do a trade-in on that new product. Once your item has been sold on eBay you can then call in to our shop and use your store credit for any items you wish in our store. For example you may wish to trade in a reel you are not using and use to credit towards a new rod or waders.

WARRANTY & PRODUCT CARE INFORMATION ROD WARRANTY

The majority of rods we sell at Clonanav come with some form of Warranty which is issued by the individual rod manufacturer. In the event of a warranty claim for a rod less than 12 months old please contact us. If the rod is more than 12 months old please contact the manufacturer directly. The level of warranty that each brand offers can vary, so please register your rod with the manufacturer. This can usually be done via their brand website. Proof of purchase will be required for all warranty claims. Please note that we only handle warranties for rods that were purchased in our store.

Hardy & Greys rods come with a Worldwide Extended warranty. A handling and repair/ replacement fee will be chargeable for each claim made under the WEW Product Repair Service. For current charges see Warranty Charges on the Hardy or Greys Website. At time of going to print the warranty charge is approx €100 per section. Greys Rods €50 per section. Discontinued models: They may at their discretion offer you a comparable rod from the current range, at a discounted price. Every new purchased Sage rod, blank or Sage series reel is covered by our lifetime, original owner warranty. The current charge for SAGE warranty is €60 per claim/section.
