R&D Activities in Pakistan There is a R&D movement in Pakistan in the form technology seminars, technology exhibitions, technology publications and other activities to boost academia and industry partnership. Here are some upcoming events
Thesis Fair IRP is looking for 8-10 companies to join us on Thesis Fair in the last of week of August 2013 at 4pm6pm in Lahore. Thesis fair includes industry interaction with the research students going to start their thesis works on applied/industry issues. We have batch of 20 MSc students of mechanical engineering going to start their theses. Industrial problems related to mechanical engineering would be addressed by students /faculty through research theses.
Technologies for Capitalizing Local Coal for Industrial Needs Seminar is planned on 27th August, 2013 in Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) at 2:3pm-5pm to share technologies for local coal. We are inviting scientists to share technologies for mining and processing. We invite industry to invest in local coal technologies. Invitation is open.
Innovation Summit 2014 IRP plans Innovation Summit 2014 on 5-6 March 2014 in Lahore. We are looking for innovative technologies for academia and industry. The technologies have made commercial impact will be given Innovation Award 14.

The demand for the development of structures with good ballistic performance has increased due to increase in crime rates and terrorist events. Therefore, the objective of the project is to produce a lightweight composite structure with better ballistic performance.

Better ballistic performance than conventional composite structures of almost equal thickness
R&D Issues for Academia Technology Issues for Academia We request academia to give industry topics to faculty and students for research. In this way we can develop many local technologies at low cost but also substitute our imports. Research on applied projects will also better train our scientists and bridge the gap between academia and industry. We offer following projects to academia to be given for university level research.
1. Development of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate (rongalite) 2. Development of replacement of HCFC 142 b . the replacement should be environment friendly as Blowing agent to be used in production of extruded poly styrene 3. Development of flame retardant fiber (synthetic) 4. Development of Biogas from Leather Meal / Leather Waste We request academia to do base line studies to evaluate economical and technology viability of these projects. In second phase these technologies are be developed and transferred to industry
