FOUR PILLARS OF THE CHARLOTTE REGIONAL
Develop and implement a coordinated economic development strategy that utilizes the diverse assets of the region to attract companies that strengthen the overall regional economy and provide opportunities for economic mobility. Generate at least 75 economic development projects and support the efforts of our partners to land new investment within the region. Expand research and analytics to serve the region in attracting and growing businesses and measuring success. Increase resources to support regional economic development analysis and serve as the go-to resource for regional data.
Invest at least $1 million in regional marketing campaigns for the purposes of attracting economic development prospects and consultants, attracting talent to the regional workforce, and promoting the work and mission of the Alliance. Develop and launch the most innovative, informative and client-focused economic development website in the country. Recruit and hire a Chief Marketing Officer and expand brand team with additional social media and graphic design support. Produce innovative events designed to inform and engage members and provide networking and exposure opportunities.
BUSINESS ALLIANCE | 2019 PLAN OF WORK
Launch a pilot digital platform to connect job-seekers (with a focus on 16-24 year olds) to the region’s existing workforce development support services and job opportunities. Conduct Career Connections designed to cultivate diverse, entry-level talent in the accounting and information technology fields by connecting students with business leaders. Offer Emerging Business Leaders (EBL) class of 60 participants to enhance leadership capability of high-potential, diverse professionals. Present opportunities for women leaders to connect and grow professionally through the Power of Women programming.
In conjunction with regional partners, draft and advocate for a legislative agenda that supports a healthy regional economy. Examples include: permanence of the jet fuel exemption, continuation and expansion of economic development incentives and investments in two commercial service airports. Strengthen regional relationships to rally support for key economic issues. Support planning for the RNC, focusing on opportunities for economic development and regional brand promotion. Serve to amplify and promote efforts designed to address affordable housing needs.
The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance was formed in late 2018 by uniting the Charlotte Chamber and Charlotte Regional Partnership into a single economic development enterprise with a vision to create the most vibrant, innovative and healthy economy in the country. Representing the Charlotte region’s unique and diverse counties, the Alliance reinforces our position as a leader in business, innovation and talent and builds on the experience and passion of both legacy organizations.
