Nuyarn® KUIU’s quest for the finest ingredients led us to Nuyarn in New Zealand, where they take their wool remarkably seriously. Nuyarn is not a new fabric, it’s a new way of making fabric. Traditional ring spun yarn twists the life out of yarn.

Nuyarn doesn’t.

Changing the Very Fabric of Yarn

Classic yarns twist fibers together for strength, which leaves ends poking out. Nuyarn takes the twist out, and instead lays fibers along the same orientation as the rest of the yarn, so fabrics feel less prickly and more comfortable yet become stronger. Nuyarn lower-density fabrics let lighter-weight garments outperform heavier traditional ring spun garments.

Primeflex. A Key Ingredient to Losing Four Pounds Primeflex fabrics use a patented spiral yarn technology, allowing the yarn to stretch and recover without using elastic such as Lycra®.

Toray’s innovative Primeflex yarn increases fabric durability and decreases weight and drying time. Primeflex fabrics feature a patented spiral yarn technology that allows the yarn to stretch and recover without using heavy, water-absorbing elastics such as Lycra®. The result is more comfortable, higher-performance Primeflex fabrics that weigh about 40 percent less than comparable traditional fabrics.

Kudos® XR DWR (Durable Water Repellent) Kudos XR DWR performs better and lasts significantly longer than conventional DWR. DWR is critical for waterproof breathable face fabric. If DWR fails the face fabric “wets out” causing condensation build up on the inside of the garment.

ULTRA Merino 210, Tiburon, Guide & Yukon Gloves

The ULTRA Merino 210 Glove gives you a Merino Wool face fabric and a brushed Polyester Fleece inside. The outside face gives more abrasion resistance and durability while the brushed fleece inside gives you a higher warmth-to-weight ratio and great next to skin comfort.

The Tiburon Glove uses Toray’s Dot Air fabric treated with Toray’s Kudos DWR to create a glove you can wear alone or as an outer layer. Complete the glove system with the Yukon Glove when a rain shell is required.

The Guide Glove uses Pittards Oiltac leather on the palm, fingers, and fingertips to ensure durability, dexterity and protection. The body and back of the glove are treated with Toray’s Kudos DWR for water resistance and breathability.

The Yukon Glove is a water-proof outer layer shell glove to be worn over other gloves to keep you dry in the wettest conditions. The Yukon glove’s rubberized cuff gasket and Velcro cinch keep water from migrating down your wrist.

Fully Adjustable Suspension “Field Tested” KUIU added unconventional field-testing to laboratory analysis of its carbon fiber pack frame. In activities that include driving over it with a pick-up truck, loading it with 150 lbs. of gym weights and throwing a loaded pack off a cliff, the carbon fiber frame proved its strength.
