Day Surgery Unit, Nuffield Hospital.
Procedure Room.
Directions to hospital. M25 - A3 to Guildford, from A3 signs to hospital. Turn right at roundabout before hospital (signs to Park Barn) then left, follow road through hospital car park to DSU, just past St Luke’s Cancer Centre.
Directions to treatment area. Unit open officially till 8.oopm , sometimes they work later, if arriving late call unit first and give them time, They will inform Night Porter, If unloading near front ent, call porter via hospital number, if installing around the back call porter via intercom. (To call porter in hospital ext 704) 2 ways in. (marked on map) 1. Turn left just before the DSU, drive down to glass doors. CODE 2403. Through doors, follow corridor around to right till you get to rear doors of DSU. ( If locked Night porter can be called to open them, intercom on this corridor), Through doors along corridor turn Lt, Then Rt. Procedure Room on Lt before waiting area. 2. Up slope, through Front Ent, past waiting area, Procedure room 1st on Rt. (Slope similar to Northampton and has Knobbly bits could affect equipment especially wheels). All equipment can just fit through doors of room without any tricky manoeuvres.
Treating Patients. Patients are admitted in small office opposite Procedure Room, and when ready placed in waiting area outside room, no more endless miles of pushing! PACS access in office next door to this, nurses have access codes. 10/12 patients mixture stones/peyronies. Start time 8.15am, (1st patient in 7.30am) 100mg diclofenac given, pethidine on request. SHO consents patients etc can be delays because of this.
