This issue contains information and news its Secretariat accumulated since that time.

Enhancement of Awareness, History and European Cultural Heritage, 3. Cultural and Educational Exchange of Young Europeans, 4. Contemporary Cultural and Art Practices and 5.

Association’s Boards and Bodies The Association’s boards and bodies are: General Assembly, Chairperson and Permanent Secretariat.

Rights and obligations of the Association, National Coordinators and entities involved are described in detail in the Statues. The updated version was sent out to potential National Coordinators in partner’s countries at the end of the year 2014. Statues can be sent by Secretariat to other interested entities upon request.

People Representing Association The representative role of the Chairperson of the Association will perform for the two years period Ladislav Krystof, Councilor of the Zlin Region for culture, heritage preservation, tourism and cooperation with churches.

The head of the team is the interim Director of the Association Dana Danova, who is the director of EastMoravian Tourist Authority (EMTA), organization established by Zlin Region aimed at tourism marketing development since 2007.

Secretary General – Martina Janochova as the first secretariat full-time member, is prepared to coordinate all the communication regarding the Route with Czech as well as foreign partners.

Martin Peterka is the manager of several CM Route projects working for the Strategic Development Department of Zlin Region.

VISIT TO THE CITY OF NITRA, KEY PARTNER IN SLOVAKIA Zlin Region and EMTA delegation visited the City of Nitra to present the current status of CM Route and the newly founded association on 28th November 2013. Slovak side declared the interest to participate in association and joint projects by numerous participants from governmental, cultural and educational institutions and very warm adoption of delegation by the Mayor Josef Dvonc.

WAYS OF CYRIL AND METHODIUS ROUTE AND THEME PROMOTION University of Thomas Bata (UTB) in Zlin Launched the First Leaflet about Cyril and Methodius Route The first leaflet about the Cyril and Methodius Route was printed thanks to joint cooperation with UTB, Zlin Region, EMTA and partners from Greece, Slovakia and Italy and is available in Czech and English version. Pdf version is available upon request sent to Permanent Secretariat.

Another Step in Creation of the Visual Identity of the Route Was Made by Zlin Region For the visual identification of ECR C&M will be used graphic symbol of Cyril and Methodius jubilee celebrations logo under a license agreement with the Zlin Region. A successful symbol arisen from a public competition organized

by Zlin Region signed into the subconscious of the Czech population during a period of intense Cyril and Methodius jubilee celebrations in 2013 and therefore, the Zlin Region intends to utilize its potential for the following CM Route communication and promotion. Modification of

logo for pilgrimage signposting is currently being prepared.

The graphic element of logotype represents: 1) The initials of Cyril and Methodius 2) A simplified stylization of two silhouettes 3) The inverted letter C is the symbol of halos 4) Architectural elements of Velehrad Basilica

Film “Cyril and Methodius – The Apostles of the Slavs” Reached Cinemas Film directed by Peter Nikolaev "Cyril and Methodius – The Apostles of the Slavs" is presented in cinemas across the Czech Republic since December 2013. Aristotle’s University of Thessaloniki Invites to Summer Theology School An offer to attend a summer school at AUTH Theological faculty designed for those who might be interested to spend 3 weeks in the native country of our common Saints and learn more about the culture they brought to other European countries was announced.

Brochure about the Greek program is available upon request sent to Secretariat.

New Thematic DVD about Cyril and Methodius Presented in Thessaloniki DVD named "Thessalonian brothers Cyril and Methodius, Illuminators of the Slavic people" with narrative and pictures on the life of Saints Cyril and Methodius placed in their historical context, especially their mother city Thessaloniki, was presented in Greece recently. Shortly, it will be posted on the YouTube with English subtitles. The DVD was realized by Eugenia Koukoura, Historian Licensed Tourist guide with the technical support of the local TV Channel Egnatia TV.

PROJECTS FOR SUSTAINABLE CULTURAL TOURISM ECROCYM Project Aimed at Tourist Itineraries Development still in Evaluation Process EMTA as a leader partner as well as other involved partners from Greece, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia are still eagerly awaiting the European Commission's decision on the ECROCYM project proposal which is under evaluation process since August 2013. The final decision is approximately three months delayed and should be announced in the second half of February.

CERTESS Project Significantly Helps to Start the Cyril and Methodius Cultural Route A numerous group Zlin Region and EMTA representatives flied last September to the Lazio Region for the last study visit of European cultural routes within the project CERTESS. Italian examples of best practices shown in surrounding of the Capital of Rome are great source of inspiration for the development of CM Route.

Examples of well-done St. Benedictine Route promotion and maintenance in Lazio Region, Italy

Zlin Region and EMTA are about to develop the Route Implementation Plan (R.I.P.) of Cyril and Methodius Route together with CERTESS project partners. For this purpose, there are three tutoring sessions in Luxembourg, Rome and Spain planned in the first half of 2014 to be joined by representatives of Zlin Region and Permanent Secretariat of CM Association.

Czech and Slovakia Cross-border Projects Connected with Cyril and Methodius Route The small, cross-border cooperation project of Zlin Region is aimed at marking and extension of Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage trail towards Velehrad. Contractor currently finished tracing of the pilgrimage trail, the draft of signposting and placing 14 new information boards as well as passport of attractions and related services. Another two micro-projects focused on realization outcomes from the first microproject and also development of website and tour guide started its implementation phase in 2014.

Within another two micro-projects where EMTA is involved, the tourist potential of the use of Great Moravia theme in the joint promotion was identified. A brochure “Czech-Slovak Monuments of Great Moravia� has been released and the new website for promotion of cultural and historical heritage associated with these monuments will be implemented in 2014. It also initiated collaboration on educational programs for children and youth.

New Cultural Project: In the Footsteps of Seven Saints Slavic Apostles The Seven include Saints Constantine (Cyril) and Methodius, and their disciples: Naum, Clement (Kliment), Angelar, Sava and Gorazd who vastly travelled across bigger part of Europe, spreading culture and translating books into the Slavic language. Organizer (leader) of this transnational cooperation project is Museum of Moravian Slovakia in Uherske Hradiste (CZ) and it currently searches for partners from SouthEast Europe. Realization of the project is planned for the period 2015 - 2016.

Actions of the project will consist in a joint preparation of an interactive publication bringing a comprehensive picture of the Story of “Seven Saint Slavic Apostles”, their work and legacy, which will present this topic to people of the participating regions in a rather nontraditional manner. At the same time, the interactive publication will remind to the wide public that Europeans share common roots and history, notwithstanding the wide cultural diversity.

POSSIBLE SOURCES OF FINANCING PROJECTS Announced INTERREG IVA: Operational Programme for Czech-Slovak cross-board Cooperation Projects – 16th Call of Microproject Fund for Czech applicants was released. More information about the call is here.

Creative Europe (suitable f.i. for project Seven Saints Apostles which is being prepared by Slovacke museum Uherske Hradiste) – next Call will be launched in July with October deadline, then every other year here

Coming Soon ERASMUS PLUS 2014-2020: Deadline all year 2014, depending on the project (link: here) European Commission calls (Transnational Cooperation Projects) – Next call will be launched in March 2014. The call will be focused only on Cultural routes, especially with the theme “Industrial heritage”. But there could be more themes involved.

Others COSME Programme (for SMEs) – There is a launch of the Call no. ACTION 118/G/ENT/CIP/13/E/NO1C06. More information about the Call is available here.

INTERREG EUROPE (2014-2020) – Currently, there is ongoing preparation of the programme for the next period. Probably, new Call for this programme will be launched in autumn 2014 or in spring 2015. More information about this programme is available here.
