This issue contains information and news that Permanent Secretariat of an Interest Association of Legal Entities “European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius” (ECRCM Association) accumulated since that time.

BRIEFLY ABOUT CONFERENCE IN OCTOBER Permanent Secretariat Prepares III. International Conference 3rd annual conference will be held in Staré Město Conference Hall 15th October 2014. Event will be divided into 2 parts. First will be general assembly welcoming new members of Association, second part will be focused on activities and projects of the route. Program:

10 July 2014 The Local Seminar about Cyril and Methodius Cultural Route held in Staré Město Congress Hall attracted more than 70 visitors!

The seminar for local stakeholders of Cyril and th Methodius Cultural Route held 26 June in Staré Město, Czech Republic, attracted more than 70 visitors from several Czech and Slovak regions. Representatives from church, self-government bodies, cultural, educational and tourism field or entrepreneurs were made familiar with the theme of Cyril and Methodius Route and the plan to develop the route as a product of cultural tourism linking Velehrad, important pilgrimage site in Czech Republic with South-West (Rome in Italy) and South-East (Thessaloniki in Greece). Interesting presentations were made by Sorina Capp (CERTESS Project Coordinator), Giovanni Pattoneri or Michel Thomas-Penette, experts on cultural routes involved in CERTESS project. Other speakers were selected from organizational entities and

also from catholic and orthodox churches. The Local seminar was organized by Zlín Region, East-Moravian Tourist Authority and European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius Association as part of CERTESS project implemented within INTERREG IVC. Nitra Region’s Membership in ECRCM Association is on the Way Nitra Regional Assembly approved entry of the Nitra Region (Slovakia) to the association ECRCM on May 19. Dr. Miloš Bača, the Head of the Department of Culture of the Regional Office in Nitra informed us about this positive step. Permanent Secretariat is currently preparing information for potential partners about process of accession of new members to the association so that they can participate in first International General Meeting of the Association on October 15.

The Key Partner for Cyril and Methodius Route Development in Italy was found In Italy, there were two meetings held this year in order to obtain the main partner for the development of the route– 1st in March in Milan at the Czech Consulate headquarters, the 2nd in May at the headquarters of the Udine Province. Outcome of the negotiations is that the main partner in Italy will be Cammini d'Europe, a consortium which will coordinate involved Italian entities – regions, provinces, municipalities, FENCO, associations etc.

Meeting about Cyril and Methodius Route Was Organized in Thessaloniki in Early June Other key negotiations made by representatives of the Zlín Region, East-Moravian Tourist Authority and ECRCM Association took place in early June in the seat of regional of Central Macedonia in Thessaloniki. They met with representatives of the Central Macedonia Region, Aristotle University, the Museum of Byzantine Culture, Thessaloniki Hotel Association, St. Gregory Palamas Institute, the Czech Consulate in Sofia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The new possibilities of the involvement of Greek partners in the route projects were discussed.

10 July 2014 Czech Ministries Are Getting Actively Involved Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic gave to the Route and the Association a patronage in April 2014.

Presentation at the Department of Public Diplomacy was made in June – the Ministry is ready to support the Route. Czech Ministry for Local Development also expressed an interest to support the project. The meeting with the Deputy Minister for Tourism was held

also in June. The discussion resulted in proposals for the creation of a cooperation agreement with the Ministry, provide patronage or promote the Route by CzechTourism. In preparation is a meeting at the Czech Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

CERTESS Project Brought More Foreign Inspiration for the Route Implementation Plan Development New experience from various cultural routes management was learnt by representatives of the Zlin Region and the ECRCM Association during tutoring sessions in Rome and Granada, workshop in Jyväskylä and mentoring session in Zlín. Valuable information will be utilized in the implementation plan of Cyril and Methodius Route which will be introduced to partners at the conference in October in the Zlín Region (Staré Město) and in the final conference of CERTESS project in Luxembourg in October this year.

CYRIL AND METHODIUS IN MEDIA Three-part Document about Cyril and Methodius Was Launched in Slovakia In the document there are excellent Slovak and other foreign historians, linguists and archaeologists. Three-part documentary film was directed by Kristián Bezák based on a story and screenplay Bernadeta Tokárová "Mission of Saint Cyril & Method in the territory Great Moravian Empire" and was shown on Slovak Television in May. Movie about Cyril and Methodius Developed in Thessaloniki is Available on YouTube DVD named "Thessalonian brothers Cyril and Methodius, Illuminators of the Slavic people" with narrative and pictures on the life of Saints Cyril and Methodius placed in their historical context, especially their mother city Thessaloniki, was developed in Greece. It is exposed on the YouTube with English subtitles here

Days of People of Goodwill Held in Velehrad in July Attracted around Thirty Thousands Pilgrims More about the biggest Czech ecclesial event dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, where thousands of pilgrims from Czech, Slovak Republic as well as from other neighboring countries came this year is published here

ASSOCIATION INVOLVED IN CULTURAL EVENTS IN KROMĚŘÍŽ Cultural UNESCO City of Kroměříž situated in Zlín Region, Czech Republic hosted several events connected with Cyril and Methodius Cultural Route during spring months. Representatives of ECRCM Association and East-Moravian Tourist Authority were there.

Pilgrim Days Mini-fair and Seminar Pilgrim Mini-fair was held in Museum of Kroměříž County. Around 30 exhibitors had their stands open for two days and presented their offer and information to the public. Zlín Region, EMTA and ECRCM Association also took part in seminar focused on sustainable pilgrimage.

Exhibition about Aquileia – Crossroad of the Roman Empire Cultural Association Mitteleuropa’s travelling exhibition about Aquileia, important middle-age Italian business and patriarchal centre was opened to Czech public in the House of Culture in Kroměříž from April to the end of May. After that it continued to chateau in Ořechov and was part of Days of Moravian and Italian Culture event organized by ItalianMoravian Cultural and Historical Association.

Days of Slavic Culture Cultural event held at the end of May in Kroměříž presented Macedonian (FYROM) and Ruthenian culture in various ways – concerts, films, exhibitions, Slavic Food and Crafts Fair and so on. The new festival focused on inter-cultural dialogue and promotion of culture of all Slavic nations was established in 2013 in the House of Culture in Kroměříž. It was held under auspices of the Czech president, many ministries, embassies and Forum of Slavic Cultures (Ljubljana).

PROJECTS FOR SUSTAINABLE CULTURAL TOURISM ECROCYM Project Aimed at Tourist Itineraries Development Has a New Chance to Achieve a Grant East-Moravian Tourist Authority (EMTA) as a leader partner as well as other involved partners from Greece, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia were waiting till the end of May for the European Commission’s decision on the ECROCYM project proposal which was under evaluation process since August 2013. Project finally did not reach the grant despite it was 1st on the reserve list. The European Commission intends to publish another call for proposals to support transnational tourism product built around cultural and industrial heritage. The publication is scheduled for the second half of 2014 and upgraded ECROCYM has a new chance to be awarded a grant.

Czech and Slovakia Cross-border Project Aimed at Tourist Guide and Route Website Development The small, cross-border cooperation project of the Zlín Region focused development of website and tour guide started its implementation phase this year. Website www.cyril-methodius.eu is under construction and should be finished in September. Processing of printed tourist guide for Cyril and Methodius Route in the Czech Republic and partially in the Slovak Republic in Czech, Slovak and English version is being the subject of a current public procurement of the Zlín Region.
