Boarding At Home on Campus.
Having a roommate, tidying up for room inspection, living in harmony with a group of other kids…These are among the great learning experiences for boarding students at Cardigan’s Summer Session. Boarders here reside in the comfort and cozy atmosphere of our dormitories, under the supervision of dorm parents on every floor. Kids enjoy developing independence within a structured, supportive environment. We use team-building activities, group discussions on such topics as respect and tolerance, and group endeavors like fundraising for charity to create positive experiences for students and to foster personal growth.
During the academic year Cardigan Mountain School is a boarding and day school for boys in grades six through nine. Some of our Favorite Traditions: theme dinners: At the Rock ‘n’ Roll Buffet you can do your best Elvis, or dress up as another rocker. At the International Dinner you can wear traditional garb from the country of your choice or dress like a tourist on an international adventure!
green and white: At the beginning of Summer Session, students and faculty are assigned to the Green team or the White team and participate in weekly activities, silly games, and light-hearted competitions.
the great race: A highlight of the summer and of the Green vs. White competitions, this wild and wacky relay takes about two hours and includes basketball free-throw shooting, Jello scarfing, table setting, runners passing batons, and more!
beach day: When this surprise holiday is announced, the whole school heads to the New Hampshire coast for some sand and surf!
polar bear club: Only the most daring will be up for early morning swims in the chilly lake.
