Honors Program Students who are looking to enhance and enrich their academic experience are invited to join our Honors Program. The program offers an exceptional and unique approach to the core curriculum, with interdisciplinary classes specifically designed for students to develop advanced academic skills.

Eligibility Students who have achieved the highest academic profiles in high school are invited to the Honors Program. Typically our Honors students are from the top 10th percentile of their high school class. A selection committee reviews students’ applications to the College and invites the most well-qualified students into the program. honors@mountsaintvincent.edu

This prestigious and socially intimate program welcomes highly motivated students, offering them a challenging and rigorous atmosphere, advancing intellectual curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Professors encourage contemplation of moral and ethical approaches to knowledge. They seek the education of the whole person, the heart as well as the mind. Team-taught interdisciplinary thematic courses are designed to thoroughly examine ideas and events from multiple perspectives. Working closely with faculty in small classes, students engage in discussion and inquiry with peers, collaborate on group projects, and make liberal use of the cultural and educational opportunities in the “off-campus classroom” that is New York City. The program culminates in the completion of the Honors Thesis, an original piece of scholarship reflecting each student’s interests. Many students present their work at national and regional conferences. Nothing better confirms the quality of our students’ accomplishments. Nothing better prepares them for professional and graduate school work.

“The Honors Program has challenged me intellectually and has opened my eyes to subjects and ideas that I never would have imagined I would be studying. It has not only helped prepare me for the challenges that lay ahead, but has provided me with a group of amazing individuals that have turned into some of my greatest friends.” Stephanie Rodway ’17 Major: Biology

Seton Service & Leadership Program The Seton Service and Leadership Program, funded in part by the Sisters of Charity of New York, encompasses four main themes: academic excellence, service, leadership, and community.

Eligibility & Application This four-year, full room and board scholarship is awarded to prospective students with high academic profiles and outstanding community service and leadership skills. The scholarship requires an annual commitment for continuation. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and fulfill a commitment to a service project of their choice. Recipients of the award will reside with a fellow Seton Service and Leadership Program scholar. sslp@mountsaintvincent.edu 6

Program participants join a likeminded community of peers who serve together and mentor one another throughout their four years. Students work with leading service organizations in health care and environmental action, with Habitat for Humanity and in homeless shelters, with veterans and in communities for the elderly, and in after-school programs and soup kitchens. Students lead volunteer efforts encouraging other Mount volunteers to join them. The program also features weekly reflective gatherings and a leadership retreat each semester, which allows students to guide themselves and others through the journey of volunteerism and self-discovery. Being in the Seton Service and Leadership Program is much more than an outward appearance—it is a deep commitment to what the Mount believes is our obligation to serve others in need, particularly those who are disenfranchised.

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES In addition to our distinctive programs and scholarships, the College offers numerous resources and opportunities for students to achieve success.
