"Grace at Spirit Lake" is a historical fiction novel based on the events of the Spirit Lake Massacre of 1857. The story follows Antoine Joseph Campbell, a 31 year old mixed-blood interpreter, as he is caught between the two cultures both Indian and White. Joseph endeavors to discover truth as he participates in the events that transpired as well as interviewing those on all sides of the unfortunate struggle. In the end Joseph must confront himself before he can truly understand the conflicts around him. The people in this story are real and the events are largely historically accurate.
