2014 CNBAM Contest – The Daily Athenaeum Best Designer Letter of Recommendation

To Whom It May Concern: Jake Newman has worked in our design department at The Daily Athenaeum (DA) for two and half years.

He started as a designer and quickly moved to design foreman. As foreman Jake runs the design department scheduling work with the other designers, and making sure all ads are set / proofed. At the end of the day he exports the ads, creates the page layout deciding on press configuration and size of paper for the news department. He works close with the sales department training new sales reps on the process of sales / production. He has worked on The Daily Athenaeum’s media kit in past years, T‐ Shirt designs, forms that we use throughout the building, and setting advertisements both print and web.

Jake also heads the DA’s social media for the advertising department, Tweeting and running giveaways on Twitter. He helps with setup and runs promotional events put on throughout the year that promotes the DA to students, and the community. Jake has been a tremendous asset not only to the design department, but to the entire DA. Jake will be graduating in May and will be missed here at The Daily Athenaeum. I hope the committee considers all the hard work and leadership Jake has demonstrated over the years and considers him for best designer.
