To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to nominate Emdmanuel Loredo for the CNBAM Ad Manager of the Year Award.

My name is Sara Karimipour and I’m the Public Relations Manager for Student Niner Media.

Emmanuel, or as many of us call him around the office, Manny, is a junior at UNC Charlotte. Manny started at Niner Media as a sales representative, and through hard work and dedication became the ad manager. Manny and I have worked together very closely on several different projects. He was able to guide me through interviewing and hiring the staff for the newly-formed street team. He was always available to answer questions and provide input on activities and promotions we developed. Most recently, Manny has been especially supportive throughout the planning of our Mobile App Launch Party. He has worked tirelessly so that everything could run smoothly for the event. He is so dedicated that he came in the first week of winter break to work on our party. Together, we approached area businesses and garnered more than 22 gift certificates for give-ways totaling $520, as well as an IPad Air from our on-campus computer store. That’s more than $1,000 in donations to help promote our mobile app. Manny doesn’t just show that he’s dedicated to his work, but he shows that he cares. I have learned a lot from my co-worker, now friend, and I am forever thankful for that. Sincerely, Sara Karimipour

January 6, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: I would like to nominate Emmanuel Loredo for the CNBAM Advertising Manager of the Year award. Emmanuel started his Student Media career as an account executive in January 2012. He obviously was gifted in the sales position as he easily conquered his goals month after month. When it came time for new management, Emmanuel showed no hesitation in stepping up to the task. Emmanuel took the head position and quickly began making improvements to better the sales department and increase efficiency. Emmanuel, to this day, still stands as an impressive and strong leader. Emmanuel has organized weekly meetings in which he emphasizes teamwork and team building. Tim has restructured the sales department bringing in fresh blood; these new sales representatives have successfully sparked new life in the sales department. He consistently has the sales staff focus on the basics and motivates us to do our absolute best. He has found an excellent balance between earning respect as a leader and continuing to learn and seek information to better the department. Emmanuel’s positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the office is contagious. He communicates strongly with all departments, creates enthusiasm about future plans, and has helped increased readership and excitement about the student newspaper. Beyond training and special projects, Emmanuel is dedicated and spends a tremendous amount of time in the Student Media office. He makes everyone feel comfortable and simultaneously challenged in this professional learning environment. And his accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. He’s been named Employee of the Month twice in the past two years, and he was selected as a CNBAM scholarship recipient in 2012. He is also actively involved with Intramural Sports, his hometown YMCA and the US National Whitewater Center. He’s been involved with the Leaders Club for the YMCA since he was in grade school. He also volunteers for Nineronline, our online site that features original content. Thank you for your consideration, as I know this honor is more than fitting and deserved for Emmanuel. Respectfully, Kelly Merges Assistant Director of Student Media UNC Charlotte

Emmanuel Loredo Personal Management Philosophy UNC Charlotte To understand my management philosophy, one has to understand how soccer and family have both impacted my life. One may think that soccer seems a bit odd to be mentioned in the management philosophy, but it is really quite applicable. I have grown up playing soccer my entire life. We all had to count on each other to do our part if we wanted to win. With out the support of my family I would not have the confidence I have now to even imagine leading a sales team. I have always looked up to my brother; I was able to learn from his successes and his mistakes. Without having him to rely on I would have never been able to mature as fast as I did. I now hope that with the people I meet and work with know that they can count on me to help them when ever they need it. Being the manager of a sales team means that I serve as the captain of my team. I have to make sure to keep them motivated and always available to them. When I started working in Niner Media as an account executive I felt as if I only had my manager to rely on for guidance and support. I have tried my best to also incorporate a feeling of family with my staff. The newer account executives see the more seasoned account executives as mentors and leaders. When I became the ad manager, I instantly knew what changes I needed to make to ensure that the sales team and every individual in the department would be successful. The key word to this is “team. I lead a sales TEAM, where I expect everyone to give 100 percent if someone is not working to their full potential, the others may carry the team until the issue can be resolved. To make the sales goal for every issue, every sales rep had to make their own individual goal to contribute. This keeps everyone working together and maintains a strong bond. To keep the team spirit going, I motivate my team by rewarding them with incentive programs, social events, and positive reinforcement on a daily basis. To sum it all up, we are a family and a team. We work together to achieve goals by having fun along the way.
