The Collegian has produced coupon books each semester for the past twenty years. Originally the book was one of two coupon products in the CSU market. Over the years, as more coupon publications entered the market, selling became increasingly difficult and revenues declined. With this yearʼs product on the verge of extinction, we revamped the book with a new look and new price structure. We went from two books a year to one mega book. Results: advertisers paid less for their annual coupon; the publication went from newsprint to glossy full color; a street team was added for distribution; and sales increased 86%.
