Professional Course
Social Reseach December - January
In this series of trainings, we will cover the following important issues related to social research: - Formulating a hypothesis or a research question - Using the primary and secondary sources - Quantitative methods - Qualitative methods - Triangulation - Reporting the research findings These training sessions are suitable for students of sociology, anthropology, politics or economics but we welcome everyone interested in gaining practical experience in social research. This course is especially recommended for students working on an independent research project such as a university dissertation. All participants are encouraged to come to the course with their own ideas for research projects. As part of the course we will together carry out a small scale practice project in which we will cover both quantitative and qualitative research methods. This project will allow the students to get practical experience in conducting social research. In addition to the scheduled lessons, the course trainer is also able to provide 1-to-1 coaching sessions with students’ personal research projects. At the end of the training sessions students will be ready to independently design and carry out a small scale social sciences research project.
