Miami Book Fair International to feature Sen. Bob Graham Miami DDA announces T MBA scholarship winner

Rusty Pelican to reopen with new look and chef
he Miami Book Fair International always has a fascinating array of authors and illustrators scheduled in any given year. This year’s fair, Nov. 13-20, has something for everyone, including a Children’s Alley. Local authors include former Sen. Bob Graham, who has crossed to the fiction side with a well-researched, complex spy thriller, Keys to the Kingdom. “This is my fourth book and my first novel,” he said. “It was in some ways more difficult than non-fiction. With non-fiction you tend to be writing events that have already occurred.” Although the book was harder to write, Graham admits it was more fun. “Since you are not constrained to document reality, you can create the personalities of your character,” he said. “And try to work through both a character development and a plot evolution that will be entertainBob Graham ing and informative.” (Photo credit The book took five William B. he Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) has announced the selection of Rebecca Pollesch as the recipient of a 100 percent paid scholarship for a Professional MBA from Florida International University’s Chapman Graduate School of Business at its new FIU Downtown on Brickell facility. The announcement was made as part of the facility’s grand opening festivities.
The scholarship, valued at $45,000, was made available by the DDA to anyone who works or lives in downtown. Rebecca was selected for her exceptional essay submission focused on how she will use her MBA education to improve downtown. “Downtown Miami is now a vibrant urban center where people not only work, but live. With 200,000 workers in the area daily and more than 70,000 residents call-

ohn Tallichet, president and CEO of Specialty Restaurants Corporation, has announced that executive chef Michael Gilligan will be in charge of the new state-of-the-art kitchen when the Rusty Pelican, Key Biscayne’s legendary waterfront dining destination, reopens in November after a comprehensive $7 million renovation.
