n coordination with the launch of Florida International University’s (FIU) Downtown Miami campus, the Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) has announced it will award a 100 percent paid scholarship for one lucky “DWNTWNR.” The selected person will receive a Professional MBA from Florida International University’s Chapman Graduate School of Business at its new location in the heart of Downtown’s Brickell Financial District. Applications for the scholarship — valued at $45,000 — currently are eing accepted through the Miami DDA website. Anyone who currently works or lives in downtown is encouraged to apply. The new facility, located at 1101 Brickell Ave., will house FIU’s College of Business Administration and School of International and Public Affairs programs, as well as the Metropolitan Center, a research center focused on economic development, land use, housing, and applied social research. Thinking she was waiting for a meeting with artist and CocoWalk gallery owner George Rodez at Bice Bistro, the CocoWalk marketing manager was leading a group of 25 of Garcia’s friends to greet her. “What a wonderful surprise to have been awarded the CocoWalk Cares Award, especially because it is the first time it has been bestowed,” Garcia said. “I can’t

iami-Dade County’s libraries always have been a gateway to knowledge, entertainment, a world of ideas and other cultures. Now a simple library card also can get families into great area attractions…for free. Victoria Galan, public affairs officer for the Miami-Dade Public Library System, explained how the system works for Miami-Dade residents. “We’ve partnered with seven of the country’s premiere attractions — Zoo Miami, History Miami, Miami Art Museum, Miami Children’s Museum, Fairchild Tropical Garden, Miami Science Museum and the Deering Estate,” Galan said. “Every branch has passes that they can check out to their patrons. A patron can check out one pass a week for a family of four and experience that location for free. It’s an amazing opportunity.” People can go to their local branch and see what is available and check out a pass
