BY RICHARD YAGER tilizing CSX Railroad right-of-way to solve commuting and traffic problems in both East and West Kendall took potential steps forward during an East Kendall Community Council session on Jan. 21. Creation of a new western transportation corridor along the CSX line parallel to the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) could become “a solution to long-range southwest traffic congestion,” according to Tere C. Garcia, consultant to the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX), who described the concept to council members. Other key advantages would be a corridor extending the Dolphin Expressway west to a point near Krome (177th Avenue) and then south to SW 136th Street could “act as a barrier against further western development,” she added, noting the MDX is seeking public reaction to the route before its adaptation within longrange planning to 2030.
