Free dinner, discussion on youth substance use to be held May 27

special event will be held at the Gibson-Bethel Community Center on Thursday, May 27th and South Miami residents

are invited. A “Community Conversation on Youth Substance Use” is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the center, which is located at 5800 SW 66th Street. The evening features a free dinner and presentations by South Miami Hospital’s Addiction Treatment Center, South Miami Children’s Clinic, South Miami Police Department, the Non-Violence Project, the South Miami Drug-Free Coalition and the South Miami Weed & Seed, among others. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and take part in a dialogue about how the community can work together to prevent youth substance use. City of South Miami government leaders are backing this important meeting. Mayor Stoddard and Vice Mayor Valerie Newman will be in attendance, along with Commissioners Velma Palmer and Walter Harris. The event is sponsored by the South Miami Drug-Free Coalition, the NonViolence Project and the South Miami Weed & Seed. Seating is limited, so come early to take part and let your voice be heard.

Chilorio’s Very Mexican opens drive-thru

ow South Miami residents can get authentic, fresh Mexican food even faster than before. In an effort to meet the demand from South Floridians for fresh and authentic Mexican food on-the-go, Chilorio’s Very Mexican has announced the opening of a drive-thru at its South Miami restaurant, located at 8211 South Dixie Highway. This milestone marks the first drive-thru for a Mexican restaurant in the fastcasual sector in South Florida. Open from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, the drive-thru will offer all of the menu items available at Chilorio’s Very Mexican, including grilled burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, fajitas, soups, old recipe guacamole, chips and more than 10 different types of salsas, a kids menu, and a variety of desserts. “The flavor at Chilorio’s Very Mexican has set a new standard in Mexican cuisine,” said Diego Cortes,
