had never met Arnold Schulman of the Schulman Design Group. I had never met Leslie Loewenthal of the Loewenthal Agency either.

But together, along with the additional efforts and generosity of the Dania Beach Design District, they all soon became “fan favorites” of mine. These wonderful people, described as compassionate, caring, generous and honorable, made a huge difference in the lives of military returns thru the Military Room Makeover Program.

I was introduced to the group by the ViceMayor of Sunny Isles Beach, Lewis Thaler.

hen most people think of an egg hunt, they think of colorful plastic eggs strategically hidden in fields of grassy patches. However, for the past 11 years The City of Sunny Isles Beach has made a spring tradition anything but ordinary with our well-known yearly event. Throw in 5,000 red, white and blue inflated beach balls

floating above 15,000 pastel plastic eggs, filled with toy treasures and you have the City of Sunny Isles Beach’s “Egg Scramble”!

Held on Saturday, April 7th, 2012, this year’s Egg Scramble was the biggest to date with well over 1,500 guests in attendance, traveling from all parts of the South Florida region. As the minutes counted down to 10 am,

complimentary pretty baskets were distributed to the eager children as they waited in line at their designated age-group tent filled with beach balls.

Once they were given the “Ready, Set, GO!” beach balls flew in a frenzy as hundreds of giggling kids of all ages scattered to gather as many eggs as they could possibly find. It surely was a sight to see.

After the egg hunt, there was so much to do, with a Treasure Hunt bounce house, a 30 foot high Coconut Tree Climb, midway games, two Spring Bunny Photo Stations with Mr. & Mrs. Bunny, a Clay Eggs Crafts

table, a Balloon Artist, Face Painting, Story-Telling Time, Food Trucks, and a Sports Awards Reception followed by a wet, fun and crazy dance party on stage, consisting of kids dancing to their favorite tunes while the after-care counselors cooled everyone off from the sun with our giant Super Soakers.

If you weren’t able to attend this year’s Egg Scramble, you missed one great party! But, no need to worry there will always be next year. We hope you’ll be ready for Egg Scramble 2013!

‘Aspen W in-Win’: It’s highly likely there are a lot of tourists who wouldn’t mind trading their ski-suits for swimsuits – and forsaking freezing slopes for ice cold tropical drinks. On the other hand, Sunny Isles Beach residents could travel to Aspen whenever they wanted to get a heightened sense of appreciation for never needing snow shovels!

‘California Girls’: Becoming a Sister City with Malibu would be very appealing to west coast guys who might change their tune and start singing: I wish they all could be Sunny Isles Beach girls!

‘Good New York News’: If native New Yorkers knew the Epicure Gourmet Market in Sunny Isles Beach had some of the best bagels and other favorite deli treats, odds are they’d want to join in the Sister City program…As long as Mayor

Be sure to open your vents Patricia C. Frank FRANKLY SPEAKING Pressure is the action of a constant force on a body or object. It can come from the outside or the inside. Pressure can take different forms; the urgency to work under pressure is one. It can be a difficulty or affliction as when you are under financial pressure. It can be constraining as when pressure is brought to bear on you. You can feel the weight of the pressure and the demands. You feel the tension, stress and strain.

The pressure to be or act a certain way comes from the outside initially. Later it comes from inside of you. Your pressures become self-imposed.

Traditional strategies like working out and relaxing are not always enough. You have to discover and open up your psychological, emotional and mental vents.

One way to do that is to become aware that your pressures come from your own

deep-seated wants, needs and fears.

Start by writing down a fear like the fear of being fired. Then list all of the reasons why you fear it. You might be ashamed and feel inadequate. You might disappoint and let your loved ones down, and so on. Keep writing until you have completely explored your fear. Then relate it to your wants and needs. Be sure to separate your wants from your needs. I want to be successful but I need to be respected and admired. Spend a sufficient amount of time examining your deepest feelings. Be totally honest no one but you will see this list. Do not judge yourself simply write what you think and feel.

Once you understand what you really want and need the fear will dissipate. The pressure will be off. You will realize that you can satisfy your wants and needs without pressure. You can still achieve success, for example, but it won’t be fear driven. You will have opened the vents to let the pressure escape. It will no longer be a part of your life.

Subcommittee Chairman We all had another beautiful day in paradise when the beautiful Lourdes Valentin, put on a magnificent Cabaret show for the Social Seniors of SIB. We had more than 125 people attend this magnificent show.

Lourdes possesses a tone and technique that are sensual and heartwarming. Our audience fell in love with her, not only for her voice but as an incredible talented solo artist, whose stage presence can only be described as mesmerizing. Her singing is not just the art of uttering perfect harmonies, but it is the art of telling a story that will forever change a soul.

I want to thank our Mayor: Norman Edelcup who is always at our events to show his support and encouragement for all that we have done. Next the people who help me

put on a great show for all of us, my great committee members, starting out with my friend and Former Commissioner Roslyn Brezin, our great SIB Photographer David Gartner, and our Good Will Ambassadors, Nancy Leyton and Joe Masters. Thanks to the Kiwanis Club for cooking us some great tasting hamburgers and hotdogs. Last but not least, I want to thank my wife Diane for all of her support.

BY CHIEF FRED MAAS On March 4, 2012, the official transition of the Ocean Rescue/Lifeguard Program took place. As a part of a Reorganization Plan by City Manager Alan Cohen and with the approval of the City Commission, the Ocean Rescue program has been placed with the Police Department, under the umbrella of “Public Safety” for Sunny Isles Beach. That was the easy part! Why? For the past 9-10 years, this extremely professional group of men and women, under the incredible dedication of Mrs. Susan Simpson and Ocean Rescue Manager Justin Broman, has become one of the best known and most respectable Ocean Rescue programs in Southeast Florida.

The only word to describe the number of lives they have saved, the number of near fatalities they have rescued and the number of disasters they have prevented, is COUNTLESS! From lost little ones of under 2-3 years of age, to pulling bathers from devastatingly dangerous riptides and currents, they have been an impact on the safety and well being of this community since day one! So assuming the responsibility of a well oiled, efficient and professionally operating machine, is not a difficult transition. What is the hard part?

Watching 25-30 young men try and express their feelings, emotions, gratitude and even

love, for the “one person” they all called “MOM” who was in effect their leader and the head of their “household.” They are a family and have developed the characteristics of a family over the past ten years so it was tough to break away from that person or persons who have “BUILT the Program from the Ground Up.” That is exactly what has happened.

Gone are the days of a couple of guys who worked out of the Newport Hotel with limited towers for visibility to the well planned future of this program that will BEST serve this community for years to come.

Therefore, with an opportunity for ALL to gather together, the Ocean Rescue Unit took advantage of the meeting to recognize and thank their “MOM,” their “LEADER,” their “MENTOR” for all she has done for them over the past 10 years. They did so by presenting her with a beautiful BRONZE EAGLE, symbolic of her strength and watchful eye over them, inscribed with words of deepest appreciation. Followed by a thunderous round of applause, I believe we even saw a slight tear in her eye and she came to realize how much she was loved and appreciated by all!

For the police department, we are proud to announce that as a part of our continued dedication to the community policing and safety of our city, Sgt. Lee Athanasiou will assume the job of working with Ocean Rescue Manager Justin Broman and supervisors alike, to continue to bring the absolute BEST Quality and Service to our Community and Beaches!

Open letter to President Obama Bob Diamond HISTORICALLY YOURS On occasion, you have made positive reference to words from Progressive Republican President Teddy Roosevelt. Kindly consider posthumously correcting Teddy’s biggest blunder in his otherwise outstanding presidential career, by your revoking his order concerning the 25th Infantry and granting an honorable discharge, with survivorship benefits, to the 160 Negro soldiers.

On August 16, 1906 Teddy was advised by the Mayor of Brownsville Texas that some 2030 Negro soldiers had earlier left the Garrison, fired rifles in town, killing a resident. Roosevelt ordered a report. The 25th Infantry, some 160 Negro soldiers, had arrived in Brownsville weeks earlier and” local racial tensions rose.”

Commanding Officer Penrose restricted all Negro soldiers to quarters. Late one evening, “the men were aroused by the sound of rifle shots fired from outside the post.”

Penrose immediately ordered a roll call with arms. All soldiers were accounted for; their

rifles found to be clean. There were no credible eyewitnesses to the shooting. The Mayor presented empty cartridge shells found in the local streets. Penrose acknowledged that the discharged shells were identical to those supplied to the Negro soldiers. All Negro soldiers professed innocence of any crime. Inspector General Blocksom concluded that “it must have been the Negro soldiers and others must have known of the plan.” The report was sent to Roosevelt.

Believing it was a “conspiracy of silence,” Roosevelt ordered the entire Negro company dishonorably discharged, including six Medal of Honor winners. The men forfeited all pension and military rights. Editorial comment was severe against Roosevelt. Senator Joseph Foraker, a Civil War veteran, after demanding an investigation, declared that the evidence against the Negro soldiers was clearly insufficient for any finding of guilt.

The expert proof established “that the spent shells were used by the Negro troops at their prior post for target practice, saved by the government and made available to the public at Brownsville.”

Foraker concluded that the “Negro troops had nothing to do with the shooting, that local residents perpetrated the crime and blamed it on the Negro soldiers.” It is revealing that in Teddy’s autobiography, the Brownsville incident was strangely omitted.

HEROES, from page 1 ––– When Lew contacted me I was delighted to become the point man for our city and help select a most deserving war veteran hero.

Our selection was Jason Recio, a current Coral Gables Police Officer who served in Iraq and was critically injured when his unit came under enemy fire. He survived and nothing would stop his determined drive to return home to his adoring wife and children AND to complete his dream of becoming a police officer. Jason Recio was awarded the Purple Heart by our country.

But now for the Rest of the Story! The following is the story behind Jason’s recognition thru the Military Room Makeover and the OTHER HEROES who made it happen. At the end of this story, please view the photos of before and after to get an amazing look at just what went into this project by Mr. Schulman and others. The time, talent, resources and services are just incredible. Is it any wonder why Mr. Schulman, Leslie and all associated with the Dania Beach Design District have a Special place in our hearts? Even the Recio family was speechless as to the final product and the sheer beauty of the final design. What better way to welcome the newest addition to their family as well as they recently had their 3rd child. The following is article ALL you need to know about Our Newest Friends who recognized one of our own; military hero and community hero. And yes, in our eyes, you are our Heroes and Thank You!

ARNOLD SCHULMAN DESIGN GROUP CREATES EXCEPTIONAL ROOM FOR DESERVING CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH VETERAN DANIA BEACH DESIGN DISTRICT MILITARY ROOM MAKEOVER PROGRAM Jason Recio was selected by the City of Sunny Isles Beach to receive a free “Room Makeover.” The bi-county Military Room Makeover Program organized by the Dania Beach Design District has 9 participating South FL Chambers of Commerce, cities and organizations. Each selected a veteran to represent their group to receive a FREE Room Makeover. Nine prominent interior designers were selected to donate their time, services and resources to make a veteran’s dream room come true. The Military

Room Makeover Program was created to honor veterans for protecting our freedom and serving our country.

The City of Sunny Isles Beach selected Jason Recio to be their honored veteran for his impeccable service record and for his commitment to helping returning veterans.

He served our country proudly while stationed in Ramadii Iraq where he was wounded. He is a Purple Heart Award recipient and currently serves as a Police Officer. One of Jason’s passions is using his resources to aid returning veterans. He is helping to establish a link between the Criminal Court System and the VA to assist returning veterans suffering with (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome due to their service for our country.

Arnold Schulman of Arnold Schulman Design Group was selected as the Designer to represent the City of Sunny Isles Beach for the Military Room Makeover Program.

Upon meeting the City of Sunny Isles Beach veteran Jason Recio and wife Patricia, Designer Arnold Schulman learned many things about their desires for their Military Room Makeover. The couple selected to have their master bedroom designed. Jason’s wife Patricia shared that their home had a family history so Designer Arnold Schulman and family decided that it was finally time to make the home’s history their own. Arnold requested that the couple complete a client survey to get a better idea of what they wanted to accomplish with their new bedroom design. The overall theme they wanted was “Relaxing.” Arnold Schulman Design Group accomplished their objectives for their new bedroom design by using calm hues, rich wood furniture, and detail moldings to create framed areas on the walls.

Previous construction left the master bedroom with a leak from the outside that began to warp the floor boards. Arnold’s General Contractor, Built by Owner fixed the leak, finished the walls, added door frames, transformed their door entrance, added new base boards and new crown moldings to compliment the look the clients wanted. 2012 Buick Regal GS is a sporty turbo sedan

LET’S TALK CARS Buick fans, rejoice! There’s a new turbocharged stick-shift model available that’s sporty, smaller and really fun to drive. The 2012 Buick Regal GS is a midsize fourdoor sedan that’s built in Germany and based on the award-winning Opel Insignia platform.

You would have to go back to 1987 to find the last turbocharged Buick Regal. But the new 2012 version is even more exciting with its double-overhead-cam, four-valve 255-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection and variable valve timing, and six-speed manual gearbox, the first Buick for sale with a manual transmission since the popular 1991 Skylark. A sixspeed automatic with manual paddle shifters will be available later in the year.

The new Buick Regal GS has a sporttuned chassis and rides slightly lower to the ground for better handling. It clocks 0-60 mph in under seven seconds, and that’s not

too shabby. Italian Brembo front disc brakes give the Regal good stopping power and a three-position adjustable steering and ride system, called Interactive Driver Control, features Standard, Sport and GS modes for high-performance driving, complemented by continuously adjustable shock absorbers, a high-performance front strut suspension and a four-link rear suspension. StabiliTrak chassis control, traction control and ABS are standard. Regal GS models come with 19-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels and all-season tires, with optional 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels and high-performance tires also available.

The Regal GS exterior has a unique front and rear fascia, unique front air intakes and grille elements finished in satin metallic.

The rear end has a decklid spoiler and integrated, trapezoidal exhaust outlets to distinguish it from the CXL. On the inside, the Regal GS is comfortably appointed with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a flat bottom, perforated metal floor pedals, leather sport bucket seats with 12-way adjustment and power lumbar adjustment. All GS interiors are black in the first year of production, with satin metallic trim on the console, steering wheel and instrument panel. When the

IDCS system is placed in the GS mode, the instrument panel will glow with white light instead of the normal blue light.

computing and charging.

Pricing on the Buick Regal ranges from $29,000 to $32,000.

Over 300 community volunteers recently came together in the spirit of camaraderie and compassion for J e w i s h C o m m u n i t y S e r v i c e s ’ annual Passover food distribution event. This year’s gathering was called M a t z a h Mitzvah & Much, Much More because for the first time it was done in collaboration with the Jewish Volunteer Center, a program of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation; PJ Library Miami; and International Good Deeds Day/Ruach Tova.

More than 600 seniors and homebound people received a special kosher for Passover holiday food package, thanks to the efforts of these committed and caring volunteers. As well as delivering food and companionship, activities included assembling the food boxes, creating matzah covers, participating in children’s story telling and painting wall tiles for the JCS Miami Beach Senior Center.

The meeting opens with several presentations: 1) Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to three outstanding City employees: Claudia Hasbun, Fernanda Gonzalez and Luz Rey, 2) Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to five Ocean Rescue Unit members who were instrumental in saving three actively drowning individuals on 3/26/12: Matthew AcquaroGendron, Tiago Choze, Klaus Rose, Maximo Fanjul and Juan Cuellar. Next, there will be a presentation by Chief Fred Maas regarding promotions and new hires in the Police Department. A proclamation will be made proclaiming April 19, 2012 as “Holocaust Remembrance Day” and the week of May 1 – 8, 2012 as “Days of Remembrance Week”. Lastly, April 2012 will be proclaimed as “Water Conservation Month”.

There are 2 Ordinances (lst reading): 1) a 10% non-refundable deposit will be required from developers for the purchase of additional square footage after site plan approval to ensure development is constructed within the time frame permitted, and 2) to revise the city code to increase the City Manager’s general expenditure authority from $10,000 to $25,000.

Adventures in Dining “In”

EAT THIS... DRINK THAT Dining out has historically served as the ideal way to celebrate a special occasion, to pass the time on a Friday or Saturday night, go on a date, or romance a loved one.

With so many amazing restaurants in Miami, it is possible to eat out every single night of the week – and then have more to try. But, while eating out is fun and glamorous, it is also expensive. And for those with allergies, dietary issues, wanting to lose weight, and the like, it is more difficult to eat out. After all, do you ever truly know what your meal is made with and how it is prepared?

With that said, there is an alternative eating in. While certainly not as exciting and there is less people watching going on, it does have its merits. Let’s begin with the fact that it can be cost effective. You can eat well and not break the bank. If you take the time, you can find interesting foods of all kinds to try. I was at Lorenzo’s earlier today picking up pastrami turkey for lunch when I passed by the fresh pasta counter.

For $4.99 a pound, I purchased freshly made gnocchi (for those who do not know this incredible item, gnocchi are little round dumplings made of potatoes and flour or semolina). You can eat them with red gravy (sauce), browned butter, Alfredo, or whatever else strikes your fancy. Mine actually came with a container of pre-made cream sauce adding even more value to the already inexpensive meal. I’ll start with a salad and voila- instant meal.

But there’s more to eating at home than just getting a bargain. This weekend, my husband and I decided that we wanted to stay in. In preparation for Easter Sunday (on Saturday) we ran to our neighborhood Costco in North Miami Beach and began thinking about what we could make for dinner on Saturday night and then, on Sunday. In lieu of going out to a steakhouse or sushi place on Saturday, we

bought two lobster tails ($25.50) and a pound of U-8 shrimp ($15.50).

So what was for dinner Saturday night? We pulled the lobster tails and shrimp. They were both frozen fresh. They thawed in no time and we simply steamed them. We like variety when we eat, so we grilled half of a turkey sausage ($2.50) and cut it up into pieces and placed it next to the shrimp on a giant wooden cutting board, which would double as a serving piece.

We then headed into the garden and picked basil and all kinds of tomatoes including black krim, patio, beefsteak, Mr. Stripey, yellow cherry and red grape tomatoes. Perfect! We diced some of the fruit, adding salt, pepper, balsamic vinegar, and the fresh basil to create an artisan bruschetta. Then, with the tomatoes that were not yet used, we sliced them and paired them with Burrata (which is a cheese similar to mozzarella. We bought at the Yellow Greenmarket for $5 earlier that day). We added salt, pepper, and a balsamic glaze.

We looked around the house and found – a can of olives, a bottle of roasted red peppers, and some wheat crackers. They’re all placed onto the serving board. Then to finish the meal, a bottle of sparkling wine, which we always have chilling in the fridge. Delish.

With so much food, we decided to leave the lobster for Sunday. And Sunday evening, we threw them onto the grill accompanied by approximately 2 dozen cherry and grape tomatoes. They were served over a bed of wilted spinach (which you can purchase in any market for a few dollars) and there it was.

Dinner was so satisfying, low in calories and fat, and reasonable! It cost a total of $40 for two decent sized lobster tails and eight huge shrimp. That is less than one entrée in most steak houses! So when you are looking for a great night in, do it yourself! You’ll be glad you did!

copies of the agreement printed in English and Hebrew. Now, Chinese may become the newest “Sister City” language if a mutually beneficial relationship is forged between Sunny Isles Beach and Taiwan’s Toucheng Township in Yilan County – an oceanfront resort community near Taipei City.

Last December, the City Commission appointed Sunny Isles Beach resident Fang Oliver to serve as the city’s “International Ambassador to Asia” and help promote Sunny Isles Beach in every city she visits around the world. Oliver is Director of the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in North America and she is also serving as this year’s President designate of the local Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Miami.

According to the city’s announcement regarding Oliver’s appointment, “The international community of Sunny Isles Beach is growing! Our city is fast becoming world renowned throughout Asia and popular Asian communities within the United States.

This is particularly due to the global travels and diligent work of our resident Fang Oliver.”

Oliver is working in conjunction with Ibis Romero, Director of the Sunny Isles Beach Tourism and Marketing Council, as well as Florida Taiwanese dignitaries and Senators in Taiwan to develop a Sunny Isles Beach Sister City tourism partnership with the Toucheng Township in Taiwan to perpetuate the growth of international residents and tourism.

As a licensed real estate broker, Oliver is also actively introducing the Sunny Isles Beach “Florida Riviera” lifestyle to distinguished Asian students and affluent investors worldwide. The city’s growing population of Asian residents now includes business and community leaders who appreciate the value of owning oceanfront properties.

‘BIG SPENDERS’ According to the U.S. Commerce Department, Chinese travelers are the fastest–growing foreign group to visit the U.S. - and they’re also the biggest spenders.

With easing travel restrictions and growing spending power, it’s anticipated that Chinese travelers will help speed economic recovery.

Chinese travelers are also landing at U.S. airports in record numbers. In 2011, over one million travelers from the Mainland arrived in the U.S., with hundreds of thousands more pouring in from Taiwan and Hong Kong.

President Barack Obama recently announced his vision to expand international tourism as a means to economic recovery.

“Every year, tens of millions of tourists from all over the world come and visit America,” Obama said. “And the more folks who visit America, the more Americans we get back to work.”

With the Department of Commerce esti-

mating that Chinese and Brazilian travelers spend an average of $6,000 per visit, ensuring the U.S. is a top travel destination has become a national priority. It’s estimated that arrivals from China will increase by approximately 274% between 2012 and 2016. Last year, arrivals from China were estimated at 1,098,000 and 294,000 from Taiwan.

If Taiwan is accepted into the visa waiver program, numbers are expected to rise even more as citizens would be eligible to travel to U.S. territories for 90 days without a visa.

With that number expected to top 3 million visitors from China by 2016, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is joining in efforts to facilitate and prepare for their arrival.

“The number one reason Chinese tourists come to the U.S. is for shopping,” says Pierre Gervois, President and CEO of China Elite Focus, an agency specializing in wealthy Chinese outbound tourism. Chinese travelers spent $7.2 billion abroad on luxury goods, a 29% increase from the $5.6 billion last year.

Another compelling reason is that travel to the U.S. can act as a social status marker for Chinese and Taiwanese. “If you can afford to visit and purchase many goods from the U.S., it makes a statement that you are living a good life,” says Nancy Cheng, a Taiwan native. SISTER CITES INTERNATIONAL Sister City relationships are developed to increase global cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding and to stimulate economic development. Sister Cities International, based in Washington, D.C., is the organization that formally recognizes Sister City relationships worldwide including the Sister City relationship between Sunny Isles Beach and Netanya, Israel and new ones that may soon be solidified between Taiwan and Italy as well.

The U.S. sister city program originated in 1956 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower proposed a people-to-people, citizen diplomacy initiative. Originally a part of the National League of Cities, Sister Cities International became a separate, nonprofit corporation in 1967, due to the tremendous growth and popularity of the U.S. program.

The organization’s mission is to “promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation — one individual, one community at a time.” Sister Cities International’s stated goals are to: *Develop municipal partnerships between U.S. cities, counties, and states and similar jurisdictions in other nations.

JOINING FORCES Discussing the benefits of partnering with the GMCVB, Mayor Edelcup noted, “The GMCVB is an internationally recognized entity with links to various marketing groups and sites that can amplify the city’s identity as a preferred tourist destination to potential tourists, business persons and international travelers.

“Sunny Isles Beach has become a haven for local tourists and international travelers - thus, this is a great opportunity for the city to maximize its exposure to local vacationers and the world.”

By partnering with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sunny Isles Beach benefits even more directly from the mission of the private, not-forprofit sales and marketing organization to “attract, encourage and induce all persons and organizations to visit Greater Miami and its Beaches for conventions, business and pleasure.” Acting on behalf of its members, inter-local partners and citizens of Miami-Dade County, the GMCVB markets and promotes all segments of the community as a preferred destination.

The GMCVB also has a Tourism Sales Division focused on increasing leisure travel and its economic impact on Greater Miami and the Beaches by working with the travel trade to promote the destination worldwide through partnerships with airlines, travel agents, tour wholesalers and trade organizations.

GMCVB staff assists travel planners in developing tour programs for individuals and groups, as well as incentive travel programs.

The GMCVB Marketing and Tourism Department is organized into three geographic market-based teams: Europe/Asia, USA/Canada/Caribbean and Latin America/Spain. These three interdisciplinary teams, led by the sales director for each territory, include public relations, advertising and publishing to assist in planning and implementing comprehensive strategies for each market.

The Division annually takes Greater Miami and the Beaches’ message to thousands of travel industry representatives via partnership programs with GMCVB members. Key industry buyers experience the destination first-hand throughout the year in dozens of organized familiarization (FAM) tours. The Division also meets with hundreds of top producers at trade shows on a oneon-one basis to identify their product needs.

Rolando Aedo, GMCVB Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, explained the GMCVB has been working closely with the city’s Tourism and Marketing Council to “put Sunny Isles Beach on the map.”

“Sunny Isles Beach is part of an amazing destination with its own unique brand recognized globally thanks in part to Ibis Romero, who spent many years working with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau,” Aedo said. “Ninety-six percent of Sunny Isles Beach visitors have expressed their intent to return and this satisfaction speaks to the city’s [exceptional] hotels,

Manifesting Your Destiny: Does it Work?

Julia Yarbough SEASON OF CHANGE How often have you questioned the random events which take place in your life? I have always believed those chance occurances are not chance at all but rather, The Universe working in perfect order to help all us to change, grow and expand our awareness of the world around us.

Lately, it seems most everything happening to and/or around me has an interconnective quality guiding me to the next phase.

The most recent incident would be almost spooky, except I fully believe everything happens for a reason. Here’s how it went down...

So the other night I met up with a girlfriend who I haven’t seen in several years.

It’s truly quite pathetic that we haven’t visited, given we live about 10 minutes apart. But like so many working professionals, we let the demands of life get in the way of personal connections.

My friend is single, no children, well-educated, fit and attractive and she says most weeks, dateless. We came together to catch up - NOT to discuss relationships, but somehow the conversation turned that direction.

She was lamenting her dateless status and not meeting men she considered eligible, attractive and still physically fit in her age range; late 40’s to early 50’s.

“Maybe I should take a ski trip and go to Montanta,” she sighed. “I hear there are plenty of eligible single men in that state and it’s beautiful! I would like to go skiing there again.”

With a huge grin I replied, “OMG - I

LOVE Montana! You’re right, it’s beautiful.

During my www.highwaytoahusband.com travels it was one of my favorite states. You know they call it MANTANA, right?

Because of all the single men?”

We both laughed and chatted more about our respective experiences in Montana. A few hours of storytelling later I returned home and went to bed with an image in my mind of visiting an expansive Montana ranch, clear blue skies, awe-inspiring scenery and a thought: maybe my Mr. Right is in Montana?

Then, in that funny way The Universe works... the NEXT morning I got a phone call. From Montana! A Bozeman-based company www.thehabihut.com was interested in signing me on to a video-production project which will take me to Nairobi, Kenya then back to Montana for post-production! Wow, how cool is that?

Of course, I said YES! What an amazing and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Now, you tell me - are you manifesting YOUR destiny?
