1st Annual College Scholarships from City of SIB — ‘What a Start...’ Promoting Paradise

Cultural & Human Services Director hat a start, what a night!” That was the general reaction and theme for the 1st annual, college scholarship awards program for the City of Sunny Isles Beach. In case you missed it, honored students and their families, dignitaries, supporters and friends all gathered at Christine Lee’s World Famous Restaurant at Gulfstream Park on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in recognition of the selected winners and runner-ups for high school seniors competing for scholarship awards. The night and the event was ALL about the students. Everyone else took a back seat as these (8) eight wonderful and talented and intelligent scholars gathered for recognition for what they have done in and for their community. The students were clearly the guests of

t has been a very busy year in the athletics department. We hit the ground running starting in January with youth basketball, youth cheerleading, Under-12 travel league soccer team, soccer academy practice, adult league soccer, and our soccer tournaments. The basketball teams played in the North Miami/Sunny Isle Beach League; games were played at home, RK Sports Center Gymnasium at Pelican Community Park, North Miami Senior

THURSDAY, MAY 26, 2011 Alfred Hitchcock’s “39 Steps” SIB Government Center 5:00 p.m.
High School, and Alonzo/Tracy Mourning High School. We sponsored two teams in under-8, one team in the under-11, and two teams in the under-14. We had a very good season with the Under-14 team, Space Jam. They compiled a record of 12-0 and won the league championship. The under-12 travel league soccer team has played in several tournaments including our own at the City of Sunny Isles Beach. This is the first time the team has been ranked. They are ranked #76 in Florida and #399 in the Nation.
