“Cities that keep young – keep growing.” This astute observation made by Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman Edelcup is coming to life thanks to efforts being made by the City Commission to ensure the community continues to offer the best services and amenities for an evergrowing population of families with children. According to Beacon Council statistics, Sunny Isles Beach has turned into a family city as the median age drops and the number of families with children continues to rise sharply. Sea turtle nests find a home in Sunny Isles Beach

ave you noticed more sea turtles nesting this year than any other year before? The Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission or FWC has authorized staff members to relocate all nesting from Government Cut to the Northern end of Dade-County, Fisher Island, Key Biscayne and Crandon Park. However, in our City of Sunny Isles Beach, the Miami-Dade Parks Sea Turtle Program, at the request of FWC and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), will leave all sea turtle nesting in their natural nest sites. n Saturday, July 23 a small group from Sunny Isles Beach attended the baseball game at Sun Life Stadium to watch our Florida Marlins play the New York Mets. It was a delightful evening with an enthusiastic crowd. Our City seats were in the foul ball zone and one of our members actually caught a ball! Gus Puyans, Gerald M. Ward, Edith Puyans caught a foul ball hit by Marlins’ Gabby Sanchez.
