Old Man Winter may finally be loosening his grip on our region, but last Saturday it was still very frigid in our area. But the weather didn’t intrepid youngsters — and their shivering parents — in three local communities from having the traditional Easter egg hunt. In Jermyn, the cold blasts were too much and the organizers— Knights of Columbus Council No. 7622 and the Jermyn Lions Club — moved indoors to the gym in the community center. There were plenty of eggs for everybody, entertainment by JoJo the Clown and, naturally, the Easter Bunny himself.

But they braved the cold in Archbald, as the Eynon-Archbald Lions Club hosted its annual event at the Archbald Athletic Club Field, with separate fields full of eggs for the different age groups, plenty of prizes and, of course, the traditional Easter bonnet showcase for kids. The Easter bunny arrived on a fire truck and posed for an endless number of pictures. The town of Olyphant and the Olyphant Borough Council sponsored the festivities at Fern Hill Park. After the dash for the eggs, members of the Eureka Hose Co. No. 4 handed out hot dogs, cookies and drinks. And here, too, the bunny arrived by fire truck.
