A weekend full of outdoor events has been lined up for you this weekend. Take your pick, or visit them all. • The Dickson City Civic Center will present its annual Dickson Days festival Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5-6, at Bernard Seminski Park, Elm and Dewey streets. The festival opens at 5 p.m. Friday, and Friday’s musical performance will be by the band Nothing Yet. On Saturday there will be a craft fair 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Norene Holeva Memorial Bake-Off will be at 1 p.m. The kids duck hunt will be at 2 p.m. The rubber duck races will be at 3 p.m. Entertainment on Saturday includes Dance Center Northeast at 6 p.m., the Mid Valley Spartan Steel Band and music by Sarah Marie and Joseph. Fireworks will be at dusk. Admission is free. Meanwhile, two municipalities are taking part in the annual National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. • The Blakely/Peckville Neighborhood Crime Watch and the Blakely Police Department will host a Night Out Friday, Aug. 5. A parade will step off at 7 p.m. (marchers should assemble at 6:15 at the Blakely Hose Co. No. 2, 315 Second St.). Festivities will follow at Blakely Borough Recreation Complex, 100 Keystone Ave. in Peckville, featuring free food and refreshments, a bounce house, face painting and music. • The Throop Neighborhood Watch will have its Night Out event on Sunday, Aug. 7, hosted by the Throop Police Department, at Washington Street Park, 1008 Washington St. A parade steps off at 6 p.m. with fireworks at dusk. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. Everywhere you look, chickens will be roasting — and raising funds for worthy organizations. • Throop Hose Co. No. 1, 512

Center St., will hold its annual chicken barbecue Saturday, Aug. 6, noon to 3 p.m. Eat in or take out. Tickets are $9 and are available from all members or by calling 570-383-1019. All members and auxiliary are asked to bake. Bake goods can be dropped off at the hose company hall on the morning of the event. • The Sons of the American Legion Post No. 570, 400 Second St. in Blakely, will hold its fourth annual chicken barbecue Saturday, Aug. 6, noon to 4 p.m. (or until sold out). Tickets are $10 in advance, available at the post or from any committee member. Call 570383-0581 for more information. • Holy Cross Parish will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday, Aug. 7, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot at 200 Delaware St., Olyphant. Dinners are $10 (menu is a half

chicken, scallopped potaotes, green beans and dessert); $5 for children’s dinners (chicken nuggets, french fries and dessert). Tickets are available before and after Mass and at the rectory. There will also be bingo, basket raffles, a bake sale, children’s games and music by John Quinn. For more information, call 570-4890752. And finally, rev up the hog and go for a ride. • The Barbara Mancuso memorial ride will be held Sunday, Aug. 7 (rain date Aug. 14). Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Pop Pop’s Mini Mart, 439 Main St. in Peckville. Kickstands up at noon. Ride ends at A.J.’s Club Soda, 1017 Main St. in Peckville. Cost is $15 for drivers; $10 for passengers. Proceeds benefit local cancer patients. For more information, call 570-351-5256.
