Admission is free to the festival, which will feature all manner of activities for the kids, including a bouncy house, photo booth, glitter tattoos, several games and, of course, a costume contest. In addition, Riverside cosmetology students will be doing hair and nails, and there will be hot dogs, pizza and drinks. “Every child who comes in costume will get a free photo to be part of the costume contest,” said Riverside PTSA president Doreen Felczuk. “We think this is going to be an exciting event.” Parents will be able to purchase handmade jewelry, soaps and other handcrafted items from the more than 15 vendors who will be on hand. And, there will be about 25 basket raffles, among them memorabilia signed by former NHL player Jim Dowd. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Riverside PTSA scholarship fund, which provides cash awards to graduating seniors going off to college. The more money raised, “the more students we can serve,” Felczuk said.

Roslyn Yackobowitz, left, and Doreen Felczuk planned the Moosic Youth Center event.

“Any student or parent of a senior who volunteers their time with us, they become eligible to apply for the scholarship,” she said. “And we still need volunteers for the Halloween event.” Those interested in volunteering at the event should call 570-815-1236.
