thused. “We are scheduling sponsors, vendors, musical entertainment and volunteers. It breaks my heart to see a tragedy like this occur in our area.” Kropiewnicki said there is still plenty of work to be done. “There is a lot of time and effort that goes into hosting a successful nonprofit event,” she said. “There is a lot of research involved in finding a good venue, and it can be difficult to gather volunteers, but with a good committee it is certainly possible. Finding bands that are interested in playing at a benefit is time consuming also.” If you’d like to go but can’t get to Lenoxville, ARK will run a bus to and from Carbondale and Forest City to the grove and will return after the event. For $5, round trip, supporters without transportation can now go to the concert.
“We had a few ask why we were holding the event outside of Forest City,” noted Jennifer Dilley, one of the principal organizers of the event. “Simply because we received an immediate response from the owners of the grove.” In addition, Kropiewnicki said, Creekside Grove will accommodate more people for a concert. “Creekside Grove’s inside pavilion holds 250, and weather permitting, we can use the whole grove.” “Overall, the time spent on benefits is always worth it,” Kropiewnicki said. “Seeing the smile on anyone that I could take the time to raise money for makes me feel so happy and proud.”
