General Reminders & Tips

- The Outstanding Traditional Scrapbook Award and the Outstanding Non-Traditional Scrapbook Awards are removed for the 2020-2021 term - Start Early! - All DCON Awards are due on Formstack by March 1, 2021 at 11:59PM. - There will be no extension of submission given for any reason. We encourage submission at an earlier date to prevent emergencies or any technicalities from meeting the submission deadline. - Keep track of the word limits for the responses to different questions in the awards. - Use the Google Sheet templates provided by the Member Recognition committee to list out events. - All file uploads must be in PDF. - Have a friend or a board member to proofread the completed applications before submitting.

Distinguished Appointed Board Officer Award

This award is presented to an Appointed Board officer who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the distinguished Appointed Board officer’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K.

TIPS

- Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Make sure you have a letter of recommendation by a home club officer ready prior submission. The letter of recommendation should be written by an individual who can best vouch your contributions to the club as an appointed board member.

Distinguished Club Improvement Award

This award is presented to the Circle K clubs in Cal-Nev-Ha that have demonstrated growth, development, and improvement from the previous year.

TIPS

- Newly chartered clubs are not eligible to apply for this award. - The Monthly Report Form will be healpful when filling out this award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Please list all new events chronologically and provide a brief description of each event.

Distinguished Divisional Excellence Award

This award is presented to all Circle K divisions that show excellence in unifying members and clubs within the division. This award demonstrates the division’s commitment to creating divisional unity and promotion of district activities at the divisional level.

TIPS

- Keep track of how you promoted education at District Council Meetings (DCMs). - Be sure to save all the meeting agendas and any documents you have made as LTGs. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.

Distinguished Kiwanis Club Award

This award is presented to Kiwanis clubs who have strong ties with their Circle K club(s). These Kiwanis clubs exemplify the spirit of fellowship within the Kiwanis Family. A Kiwanis club may be nominated by a Circle K club or by an individual Circle K member. The nominating club and/or individual will fill out the award application in collaboration with the nominated Kiwanis club.

TIPS

- For events to be considered Kiwanis Family events, at least TWO Kiwanis club members as well as TWO members from another Kiwanis Family club must be present. - Each Circle K club is limited to nominating one Kiwanis club. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.

Distinguished President Award

This award is presented to each Circle K Club President who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished President’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K.

TIPS

- Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Remember to ask your LTG for a letter of recommendation.

Distinguished Vice President Award

This award is presented to each Circle K Club Vice President who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished Vice President’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K.

TIPS

- Make sure to choose what position you are applying for: General Vice President, Administrative Vice President, or Service Vice President. - Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.

Distinguished Secretary Award

This award is presented to each Circle K International Club Secretary who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished Secretary’s dedication, participation, and contributions to Circle K International.

TIPS

- Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Include PDF attachments of sets of agendas from different quarters or semesters.

Distinguished Treasurer Award

This award is presented to each Circle K Club treasurer who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the Distinguished Treasurer’s dedication, participation, and contributions to Circle K.

TIPS

- Have the Monthly Report Form ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Keep reciepts, budget sheets, account statements, and/or any other materials that help reflect on the club’s financial status.

Don Hull Distinguished Kiwanis Family Relations Award

This award is presented to Circle K clubs that have shown excellence in their Kiwanis Family relations. This award demonstrates the club’s involvement in maintaining a strong relationship with the diverse branches of the Kiwanis family such as Kiwanis, Cali-Nev-Ha and KIWIN’s District of Key Club, etc.

TIPS

- Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - There are several short response prompts about specific Kiwanis Family events and programs such as Kiwanis One Day, Kiwanis Family Month, and Key to College. Be sure to participate in these events! - Refer to the CERFs and events recorded in the MRF and MRS that have the Kiwanis Family (KFAM) tag.

Rich Thigpen Faculty Advisor of the Year

This award is presented to the faculty advisor who has been a valuable resource and liaison for a club and Circle K in general. They are someone who exemplifies the spirit of fellowship in both words and actions. A faculty advisor may be nominated by a Circle K club or by an individual Circle K member.

TIPS

- A Faculty Advisor may be nominated by a Circle K club or an individual Circle K member. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - One letter of recommendation must be submitted with the application. - Up to three supplemental materials may be submitted with the application.

Hall of Fame Award

This award is presented to a Circle K member of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District who, through their contributions and achievements, has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the principle and ideals of Circle K International.

TIPS

- Maximum of 1 nominee per club. - This award requires three letter of recommendations, so please be sure to find a Kiwanian, a co-worker or school faculty member, and a fellow Circle K member who understands the nominee’s contributions to Circle K International.

This award is presented to the Kiwanian who best exemplifies the spirit of fellowship within the Kiwanis Family. To a Kiwanian, this is Cal-Nev-Ha Circle K’s highest honor. A Kiwanian may be nominated by a Circle K club or by an individual Circle K member.

TIPS

- In order for a Circle K club or individual to nominate a Kiwanian, the Don Hull Distinguished Kiwanis Family Relations Award must be submitted by the home Circle K club. - Up to three supplemental materials may be submitted with the application. - The previous recipient(s) is not eligible to win for two consecutive years.

This award is presented to any Circle K club in the District in recognition of its performance in the areas of membership, recruitment, retention, development, and education.

John Woodall Distinguished Membership Development and Education Award

TIPS

- Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Applicants may respond to prompts in the first person point of view. - Attach up to 10 supplemental MD&E samples. NOT including the copies requested in sections I, IV, V, and VI.

Mei Po Wong Overall Service Award

This award is named after Mei Po Wong, a Circle K member from Mt. San Antonio College, who was killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver. Mei Po served as president of her club and was serving as the Lieutenant Governor of the Foothill Division at the time of her death. This award is given to honor her extraordinary commitment to service and the Kiwanis Family.

TIPS

- Have the MRS ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - An event may be only listed once in the entire application. Clubs that list the same event in multiple sections may be disqualified. If an event qualifies for more than one section, please list the event in one section that you feel is the most suitable.

New Member of the Year Award

This award is presented to one new member of Circle K International in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District who, through their contributions and achievements, has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the principles and ideals of Circle K.

TIPS

- Maximum of 2 nominees per club. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - This is an extensive application, so be sure to start early and review it thoroughly to ensure all details are correct.

Outstanding Club Media Award

This award is presented to the top three Circle K clubs that regularly produces high quality media content, serving as an effective communication tool for the club and its members.

TIPS

- A minimum of 2 newsletters, 2 club promotional videos, and 20 graphics must be created in the term. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. - Remember to take copyright into account, as there will be a 10 point deduction if images resemble a copyrighted design. However, images that draw from a copyrighted image in an original way will be accepted. - All graphics and newsletters are expected to follow the international and district graphic standards. Outstanding District Committee Member Award

This award is presented to a District Committee member who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the outstanding District Committee members’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K.

TIPS

- Any dues-paid member may nominate a member serving on a District Committee for the Outstanding District Committee Member Award. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Make sure you have two letter of recommendations by a home club officer or a fellow committee member and the District Chair ready prior submission.

Outstanding Divisional Leadership Team Member Award

This award is presented to a Divisional Leadership Team member who demonstrates excellent achievement in their role. The award illustrates the outstanding Divisional Leadership Team Member’s dedication, participation, and contribution to Circle K.

TIPS

- This is a new award! - Any dues-paid member may nominate a member serving on a DLT for this award. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Make sure you have two letter of recommendations by a home club officer or a fellow DLT member and the Lieutenant Governor ready prior submission.

Outstanding Interclubbing Award

This award is presented to the top three Circle K clubs that have shown unity and fellowship through the implementation and participation of events with other Circle K clubs and Kiwanis Family clubs.

TIPS

- Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Judging will be based on type of project, Kiwanis Family attendance, and miles traveled. More weight will be given to service projects and interaction with clubs without as many opportunities to interact with other clubs due to distance or size.

Outstanding Single Service Project Award

This award is presented to the top three clubs that, through dedication and selfless efforts, have produced the best overall club service project completed between March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021.

- Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack. - Events that are strictly Single Service events, as defined in the District Operating Procedures, are the only events eligible for this award. - The project submitted for the Outstanding Single Service Project Award is limited to a one-week time period and a focus on a single organization. If your club conducted more than one Single Service project, please choose only one.

TIPS

Outstanding Total Achievement Award

These awards are presented to Circle K clubs that have excelled in all aspects of club operation. This is a combined application for the Outstanding Total Achievement Award and the Camille Goulet Distinguished Club Award. Keep in mind that these are two distinct awards.

- There are TWO mandatory supplements to this application: The John Woodall Membership Development and Education and the Don Hull Distinguished Kiwanis Family Relations applications must be submitted alongside this application. - Have the MRS ready when filling out the award application. - Utilitze the Google Sheet templates as provided on Formstack.

Returning General Member of the Year Award

This award is presented to one returning general member of Circle K International in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District who, through their contributions and achievements, has demonstrated outstanding dedication to the principles and ideals of Circle K.

Growth Enhancement Membership (GEM) Award

This award is presented to all Circle K clubs that have shown positive growth in membership over the past year in 3 categories for club size. This program was institutionalized to recognize clubs that have achieved success in membership growth as compared to the previous years statistics.

TIPS

- There is no application for the award. - The club size categories follow Circle K International tier names, which are Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond.
