EASES AT THE PUMP

Florida drivers began to see sharp drops in prices at the pump over the weekend as the state's Florida Motor Fuel Tax Relief Act of 2022 went into effect on October 1. This suspends the state's 25.3 cent tax on each gallon of gasoline through the rest of October

On Sunday, the state average was $3 26 per gallon That's the lowest daily average price since January

So far, the state average price for gasoline declined 13 cents per gallon, since the gas tax holiday began Before October, the state average declined a total of $1 50 per gallon since prices reached their peak of $4 89 per gallon in mid June

"This gas tax builds on the previous downward pressure on pump prices, stemming from global recession concerns and underwhelming fuel demand," said Mark Jenkins spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group "Prices are now beginning to dip below $3 a gallon at various gas stations in the state While everyone might not be so lucky to see sub $3 gasoline, all Floridians should expect a sizeable discount this week "

The most expensive metro markets in Florida at the moment are West Palm Beach Boca Raton ($3 47),

Belize Police Commissioner Chester Williams says there are persons hell bent on terrorizing their communities and he is not ruling out requesting a state of emergency (SOE) to deal with the upsurge in murders in Belize

Williams said he has already directed the police to do “certain things in the different areas to see how we can quell the feud,” particularly among warring gangs

The authorities have organized several sporting and other initiatives in response to gangs and Chester Williams said he will be meeting with the relevant minister to decide “what course of actions will be taken against those groups causing the flare ups ”

Asked whether a state of emergency is being considered, the top cop replied “anything is on the table

“I can tell you that the crowd from the Antelope Extension, I am sick and tired of them The truth is they have not felt the wrath of the SOE and perhaps that is the reason they are behaving the way they are The past three murders in the city have been committed by them So, something drastically needs to be done for them to get the message ” Williams said in the Antelope Extension Area, there are three different groups and “there is extremely high tension among them and as I have always said there are some of these young men that certainly don’t want anything good in life

“We do a number of programs to try and work with them We talk with them and do interventions with them We do everything possible to try and get them to understand that the lifestyle they are living is not good for them, is not good for society ”

The police commissioner said it is impossible for police to control these areas

“We just can’t police everybody I can’t say we are going to tag police to every gang member I don’t have the manpower. It is human beings and at the end of the day, while we do have police in the area, you would know that the criminals monitor the police The police have to move around ”

Guyana Government slashes gasoline prices

Lennox Linton steps down as party leader

Dominica's Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, said infighting within the main opposition United Workers Party (UWP) had served to prevent the party from getting into the corridors of power, especially during his tenure as a political leader

“I stepped up to the responsibility of political leadership in response to the need for change I served in the responsibility of political leadership, on the agenda for change I have stepped down from the responsibility of political leadership in the embrace of change,” said Linton, who announced his resignation as UWP leader over the weekend

In a Facebook statement, Linton, who had been at the helm of the party since 2013, leading it to two electoral defeats, said “ a house divided under itself cannot stand and it is in the balance between

democratic freedoms and the discipline for collective leadership responsibility that eludes us from time to time ”

In 1995, the centrist political party, which was formed in 1968, secured a narrow majority of 11 seats in the 21 seat Parliament but lost the 2000 general election when it won nine seats

Linton said while he believes that the opposition's quest to remove the ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) from office has been unsuccessful due to an uneven

playing field, betrayal within his own party led to its defeat at the polls

“And yes, there has been the infighting, the vilification from within, the backstabbing and the treachery, but I'm alive, I survived to stand aside, to continue to serve, committed to secure a course correction so that the leadership of the party going forward is protected from similar impediments to ensuring that Dominica is on the ballot, and not the parties and interests we define in mindless prejudice, of colors It's time for a change ”

Linton, a former journalist, said his resignation as UWP leader emerged from the national yearning for change “that is a must

“For real change that people, especially the youth can believe in,” he said, adding that his relationship with the party was never “till death do us part ”

Motion of no confidence against Speaker McKeeva Bush

Cayman's Opposition Leader, Roy McTaggart filed a motion of 'Lack of Confidence” in the Speaker, McKeeva Bush, after the deadline given by Premier Wayne Panton for him to demit office passed without him doing so

Panton had given Bush, a former premier, until 5 00 p m on September 23, to submit his resignation as speaker amid allegations of “reported misconduct” at a government cocktail reception in September McTaggart said the incident led to “ an

The statement added that in order to mitigate the impact of rising global fuel prices on domestic consumers and the productive sectors to which fuel is a key input, the Government lowered the excise tax rate on both gasoline and diesel from ten percent to zero percent in March of this year

“Since resuming office in August 2020, the PPP/C Government has implemented a suite of measures to ease the cost of living pressures and to improve disposable incomes, in an ongoing effort to address these issues head on and to mitigate the effects of rising prices globally on all Guyanese citizens ”

The ministry noted that the reduction in excise taxes is one such measure within the wide menu of measures implemented by the Government since assuming office

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says overall economic growth is projected to be 57 8 percent this year for Guyana as the country continues to recover from the coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic induced recession in 2020, and protracted political transition, non-oil economic growth

In his motion, the Opposition Leader said Bush, who was elected Speaker following the April 14, 2021, general election, had prior to the polls “pleaded guilty” before the Summary Court on December 3, 2020, to two charges of assault and one charge of disorderly conduct and was sentenced to two months imprisonment, which was suspended for two years

He said Governor Martyn Roper, the

premier, and himself “have all pu the speaker to resign from the rol

Naturalized St. Vincent national Dave Ames jailed for “gigantic Ponzi scheme”

The Britain born, St Vincent and the Grenadines naturalized citizen, Dave Ames, has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for running what a judge described as a “gigantic Ponzi scheme” in the Caribbean

Ames, the former chairman of Harlequin, the company that owned the former Buccament Bay Resort in St Vincent and the Grenadines, is also wanted in the Caribbean island on tax evasion and theft charges

He was sentenced in the British court to nine years for one count of fraud by abuse of position and three years for another count The sentences will run consecutively

Last month, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in the United Kingdom successfully prosecuted Ames, who was behind the fraud involving celebrity endorsed luxury resorts in the Caribbean, including Buccament Bay Resort

In handing down his sentence on Friday, Justice Christopher Hehir described Ames as a “slick salesman and thoroughly dishonest with it”

He said that Harlequin's sales material was “full of ambiguous, false, and misleading claims

in his name “The prosecution was careful not to use the word before the jury, but the plain truth is that from January 2010 the operation was a gigantic Ponzi scheme and could only keep going by attracting new investors and you knew they would almost inevitably lose everything

The judge said Ames had no relevant experience entering the property business, noting “ you had sold garden furniture and double glazing and been in the loan business but were twice declared bankrupt, a fact you did not readily declare to those whose money you were after

In presenting its case, the FSO said a jury at Southwark Crown Court found Ames, 70, guilty of two counts of fraud by abuse of position He offered no evidence in his defense

An SFO investigation uncovered how Ames deceived over 8,000 British investors in the Harlequin Group, a hotel, and resorts development venture Victims were led to believe they had a secure investment in a property whereas, in reality, Harlequin Group was never operating as promised, the press release said

The business model relied upon investors paying a 30 percent deposit to purchase an unbuilt villa or hotel room, half of which went toward fees for Harlequin and relevant salespeople, while Harlequin put the remaining 15 percent toward construction

Investors were fraudulently told that the building of the properties would be further funded by external financial backing With no additional source of funding, three properties needed to be purchased to finance just one of the luxury accommodation units

This led to the exponential expansion of the scheme, the diversion of investor money between resorts and a funding shortfall of over 1 2 billion pounds (One British pound=US$1 11 cents) by 2012 seven years after Ames launched the scheme

Throughout the entire eight year project, only 28 of over 8,000 investors ever completed on a purchase, leaving well over 99 percent with no return on their investment The Harlequin Group lost a total of 398 million pounds of investor funds

Climate change especially dangerous to Florida

The intensity of Hurricane Ian the Category 4 Hurricane that devastated Fort Myers and neighboring towns in southwest Florida is cause to refocus attention on the negative effects of climate change

P.O.Box 551712

Davie, FL 33355 advertising@cnweeklynews.com www.cnweeklynews.com

EMERITUS

In recent years multiple scientists have cautioned that Florida, especially the coastline, is very vulnerable to climate change Seas along the coast have risen some six inches according to one report; so much so when the tide rises at full moon streets along the coastline of Miami and Fort Lauderdale are flooded in a phenomenon called King Tide

along the southwest coast of the state

regions threatened by devasting summer and winter storms, tornadoes, wild fires, and floods

There's proof it's the effect of greenhouses gases that are melting some of the world strongest glaciers, including glaciers in Alaska; warming the oceans giving more fuel to hurricanes; creating unusually long droughts in the Caribbean and other countries; and causing sea levels to rise and encroach populated coastlines like what is occurring along Florida's coast

Not only are the seas surrounding the state rising, but they have become warmer, more conducive to providing energy to the storms that target the state annually between June and November

As the world utilizes more modern modes of transportation and manufacturing processes, it emits more greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, which is heating the natural climate system by trapping infrared light

argue that changes in the earth's climate including much warmer summers, and colder winters with more snow, is the result of natural phenomenon; nothing to do with human activity

Although in recent years Florida has experienced far fewer hurricanes, when they do approach they roar in between Category 3 and 5 status In 2017 Hurricane Irma impacted Florida as a Cat 3 with winds over 130 mph, devastating Key West A few days later, Maria a Cat 5, created serious grief and damage in the Caribbean, particularly in Dominica and Puerto Rico The following year, Dorian, another Cat 5 pretty much levelled regions of the Bahamas

But despite the ferocity of these recent storms, the coastline along Florida continues to be crowded by expensive homes, luxury hotels, and a variety of other businesses This is a recipe for disaster when a hurricane strikes, as is now being witnessed

In 2014 the United States National Research Council stated, “There's a strong, credible body of evidence, based on multiple lines of research, documenting that climate is changing. These changes are in large part caused by human activities While much remains to be learned, the core phenomenon, scientific questions, and hypotheses have been examined thoroughly and have stood firm in the face of serious scientific debate and careful evaluation of alternative explanations ”

But despite the preponderance of scientific evidence, aggressive climate change debate continues, particularly in the US and China, two countries emitting vast amounts of greenhouse gases

Those who tend to discredit scientific evidence of climate change

The subject of climate change in the US, unfortunately, is divided along political party lines with Democrats pushing for “Green” laws to protect the country from negative effects of greenhouse gases While Republicans tend to rubbish the evidence of climate change

Despite the increase in global concern over the effects of climate change, in 2017 the US pulled out from the Paris Accord on Climate Change which it entered during the Obama administration The primary reason for the withdrawal was clearly political America badly needs to build consensus around climate change, and its drastic effects With elected public officials persisting in opposing the scientific evidence of climate change, some members of the public simply ignore the warnings Communities continue to be built in

There's another major problem that the effects of climate change is bringing to Florida residents Costly property damage from the ferocity of the hurricanes impacting the state since 2005 has chased property insurance companies out of state Those that remained, and those that have since started operating in the state, have increased property insurance premiums to rates out of the reach of several homeowners Predictably, with the widespread property damage caused by Hurricane Ian, premiums will again increase, and significantly, within the next year This will serve to further increase rental rates as those who own rental properties pay more to insure them

It's imperative that the leaders of Florida, irrespective of political leaning, pay keen attention to the effects of climate change on the state, and ensure laws are passed to protect citizens directly, and entirely Climate change should not be caught up in the cryptic political divide

Jamaica to enact legislation against Molly pills

The Jamaican government is to update its laws to combat the prevalence of methylenedioxy methamphetamine, commonly known as “Molly”, to help eradicate the problem and hold perpetrators accountable.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement at the National Security Council's (NSC) monthly meeting on Thursday, September 29

According to a statement by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) today, the National Council on Drug Abuse (NCDA) presented to the council on the increased use of psychoactive substances and their deviant

effects on young people, particularly in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly seen in tablet form (ecstasy) and crystal form (molly or mandy), is a potent central nervous system (CNS) stimulant primarily used for recreational purposes The desired effects include altered sensations, increased energy, empathy, and pleasure When taken by mouth, effects begin in 30 to 45 minutes and last 3 to 6 hours

Short-term adverse effects include grinding of the teeth, blurred vision, sweating and a rapid heartbeat, and extended use can also lead to addiction, memory problems, paranoia and difficulty sleeping Deaths have been reported due to increased body temperature and dehydration It was noted that a recent situational

assessment conducted by the NCDA in May revealed a growing trend in the use of 'Molly,' particularly among youth and young adults

According to the NCDA, the drug's impact has resulted in increased socially risky and physically dangerous behavior

The OPM said Holness directed that the laws surrounding these psychoactive substances be amended to combat the harm they pose and hold the producers and traffickers of the substances accountable

According to the OPM, the security council was also advised that, in addition to the risks linked to the psychoactive substance, the vast majority of drugs distributed on the market to unsuspecting users contain other harmful and toxic synthetic substances, which are known to have negative long term effects on the human body

Vybz Kartel's Attorney Isat Buchanan found guilty of professional misconduct

Following remarks made by Buchanan in November 2020 regarding the Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewellyn's office handling of the case involving popular imprisoned entertainer Vybz Kartel, Llewellyn had brought the matter before the GLC

The panel determined that Buchanan violated Canon 1b of the Legal Profession (Canons of Professional Ethics) Rules, according to attorney Andre Earle, who is defending the Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn

The section states that an attorney must always uphold the honor and dignity of the profession and refrain from actions that might damage the reputation of the profession of which he is a member

Buchanan, one of Vybz Kartel's lawyers had argued that the DPP's office had violated his client's constitutional rights in how the case was handled

However, the DPP argued that Buchanan mischaracterized events

She accused him of engaging in “scurrilous,” “irresponsibly,” “outrageous,” and “reckless” behaviour, and also said her office believes his actions violated the canons of the legal profession

According to attorney Andre Earle, a sanction hearing has been scheduled for October 22

Haiti reports eight cholera deaths

Haiti's government on Sunday announced that at least eight people have died from cholera, raising concerns about a potentially fast spreading scenario and reviving memories of an epidemic that killed nearly 10,000 people a decade ago

The cases - the first cholera deaths reported in three years - came in the community of Dekayet in southern Port au Prince and in the gang controlled seaside slum of Cité Soleil, where thousands of people live in cramped, unsanitary conditions

“Cholera is something that can spread very, very quickly,” warned Laure Adrien, director general of Haiti's health ministry

Food or water contaminated with the cholera bacteria can lead to severe diarrhea and dehydration which can be deadly The United Nations said in a statement that it is working with Haiti's government to “mount an emergency response to this potential outbreak,” stressing that health teams need to be guaranteed safe access to areas where cases have been reported

The deaths come as a lack of fuel and ongoing protests shut down the availability of basic services across Haiti, including medical care and clean water, which are key to helping fight cholera and keep patients alive

Haiti's most powerful gang continues to control the entrance to a main fuel terminal in the capital of Port au Prince, leading to a lack of fuel amid soaring prices that have unleashed widespread protests that have paralyzed the country for more than two weeks

The absence of fuel and increasing number of roadblocks have prevented water trucks from visiting neighborhoods to provide potable water to those who can afford it It has also prompted some companies to temporarily shut operations

On Sunday, Caribbean Bottling Company said it could no longer produce or distribute potable water because its diesel reserves were “completely depleted,” adding that the lack of such a vital resource would affect “all sectors of society ”

“This is a real problem,” he said of how the country has virtually been paralyzed “We're hoping this will not spread ” Adrien noted that all those who died were unable to reach a hospital in time

Former US diplomat Pamela A. White says “Normal” diplomacy in Haiti will not work

A former United States ambassador to Haiti Pamela A. White says it is time to throw away the gloves and stop pretending that 'normal” diplomacy will work in Haiti.

The former diplomat who served in Haiti from 1982 to 85, told the House Committee on Foreign Relations that while she had seen corruption and gang warfare and hundreds of burning tires as well as demonstrations in the streets and violence against innocent civilians, “I have never seen anything like the total breakdown of civility that is the current situation in Haiti ”

Speaking on the theme “Haiti at the Crossroads: Civil Society Responses for a Haitian led Solution,” she said in her 40 years serving as a diplomat around the world, “it is time to throw away the gloves and stop pretending that 'normal” diplomacy will work in Haiti

“As everyone knows who cares about the Haitian people, Haiti is a failed state There is no legitimate government, no judiciary, no parliament, and a weak police force incapable of stopping the gangs that now rule over 60 percent of the capital

“There is no chance of planning elections under the current security crisis There is absolutely zero doubt that Haitians are living in hellish conditions,” she said, adding that all social services were terminated months ago

The former diplomat said that Port au Prince, the Haitian capital, has the

highest number of kidnappings in the world

“There are weekly beatings and body burnings Children in orphanages are terrorized with bullets zooming over their heads with no care as to their safety The Haitian National Police (HNP) have fewer weapons, fewer members, and a lot less money with which to carry out operations than gangs do ”

She told the House Committee that

on September 18, a well-respected employee of the telecommunications company, Digicel was found beaten to death in her car, a victim of a botched kidnapping attempt

“Last week two respected Haitian journalists were gunned down in broad daylight. TRINIDAD &

Prime Minister Rowley being challenged for leadership of Trinidad's ruling party

Former finance minister, Karen Nunez Tesheira, has announced her intention to challenge prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley for the leadership of the ruling People's National Movement (PNM) when the internal election is held on December 4

“I was approached fairly seriously and not just in terms of why don't you go up, but it came with a very rare commitment and a plan moving forward,” she told local media ”

Nunez Tesheira, an attorney, who was elected to Parliament in 2007, but has since then not contested any general election, said although she has deliberately maintained a low profile that has kept her out of the political limelight for several years, her loyalty is forever vested in the PNM

She told local media that she has lost confidence in Rowley and believes she has no other choice because of the challenges facing

the people of the twin island republic Nunez Tesheira, who served as finance minister in the Patrick Manning government from 2007 10, said her appearances on various talk shows and publishing articles relating to the socio economic climate over the past

several years also helped with the process, as she was forced to delve deeper into the issues

“It made me very well aware of how serious our situation was from my point of view and certainly a lot of the citizens of this country, that if something was not done in relation to the

leadership of the party, Trinidad was already feeling a sense of hopelessness and I think that is where the trajectory was heading ”

She said she is not blind to the realities that exist and there are people who will not want to come out and openly support her

“I do understand why members of his own Cabinet who probably, if they had their way, would probably say he shouldn't be there they don't want to lose their job and I do understand that

“I do understand people who are chairmen and directors remaining silent because the price, as with any government by the way, not just PNM, would be the loss of their positions and all that goes with it, so the fact of the matter is that it is a challenge ”

Rowley has been the PNM leader since 2010 and has led the PNM to successive victories in the 2015 and 2020 general elections serving as Trinidad and Tobago's seventh prime minister

A volcanologist by profession, he has been the parliamentary representative for Diego Martin west since 1991

Suspected Venezuelan gang leader charged with human trafficking in Trinidad

A suspected Venezuelan gang leader has been arrested on human trafficking charges following a “painstaking two year investigation” by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS)

Acting Police Commissioner McDonald Jacob in congratulating officers “for their arduous work and dedication exhibited over a painstaking two year investigation” said he is pleased that there had been a breakthrough in the case, “leading to child trafficking charges being laid against a suspected Venezuelan gang

leader

“I am pleased that we have made another solid breakthrough, as these heartless criminals can never feel that they have a free pass to operate in Trinidad and Tobago The TTPS will continue to vigorously pursue and arrest those involved in trafficking in children, child prostitution, and other heinous crimes that feed on the suffering of the innocent and vulnerable,” Jacob said

The police said the Venezuelan was due to appear at the Chaguanas Magistrates' Court in

Central Trinidad today

They said the accused was one of four Venezuelans intercepted in the Santa Flora district, south of the capital last Friday The lawmen detained two men and two women who allegedly had a firearm, ammunition, and contraband in their possession

The police said following his arrest, one of the suspects was handed over to the Special Investigations Task Force (SITF), which conducted investigations into alleged crimes of human trafficking

“The man was then charged with Trafficking in Children, Causing a Child to Become a Prostitute, Transporting a Person for Prostitution, and being a Gang Leader,” the police said in the statement

Ongoing interceptions targeting sex trafficking rings operating between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago have revealed the extent to which Venezuelan women and minors are being continually smuggled to the island nation from critical hubs — along with the grave conditions they face in transit and upon arrival

Florida utilities are working to restore power As of Sunday morning, nearly 850,000 homes and businesses are still without electricity, down from a peak of 2 67 million

At least 54 people were confirmed dead: 47 in Florida, four in North Carolina and three in Cuba

The weakened storm had drifted north on Sunday and is expected to dump rain on parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and southern Pennsylvania, according to the National Hurricane Center, which has warned of the potential for flash flooding

Miami Dade County's Portal goes pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As October marks the beginning of Breast C a n c e r A w a r e n e s s m o n t h , t h e Communications and Customer Experience Department (CCED) is turning Miami Dade County's web portal pink “Going pink on miamidade gov brings awareness to the millions of our web users and kicks off another year of our county's participation in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava

CCED Director Inson Kim stated, “We are proud to do our part to support patients in their fight against breast cancer, celebrate survivors, and remember those who have been lost ”

Since 2007, Miami Dade County, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, has raised over $2 5 million for the fight against breast cancer Last year, the county raised more than $215,770 through its many initiatives, including the annual Making Strides Against

Breast Cancer Walk This year's walk will be held on October 22, at loanDepot Park To learn more about the County's Making Strides

Against Breast Cancer Campaign, visit www miamidade gov/makingstrides

With over 130 million visits every year, miamidade gov provides an award winning experience where residents, businesses, and visitors come to learn about and transact with Miami Dade County

Every October, people all over the world show their support for everyone affected by breast cancer The United States has recognized October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month for nearly four decades It is a time annually devoted to educating everyone about breast cancer including metastatic breast cancer, and the importance of early detection and timely, high quality care

A Brief Update on Breast Cancer Statistics and Screenings

The month of October is used to bring awareness to breast cancer, show support for victims and survivors, and to promote mammograms and screenings which continue to save millions of lives annually

Here are statistics of which every woman who has postponed a mammogram should be aware: Women who had mammograms had a 25% lower rate of advanced breast cancer and a 41 percent lower rate of breast cancers that were fatal within 10 years, according to a recent study published in the journal Cancer

What this study underscores is that even

with all the encouraging advances in breast cancer treatment, nothing is more important than finding the cancer early, before it has spread to the lymph nodes or elsewhere

For women who belong to certain ethnic or racial groups, the concern is even greater Breast cancer is diagnosed in Black women and White women at about the same rate However, Black women die from it at a higher rate In

keeping with this disturbing health disparity, breast cancer was more likely to be found at an earlier stage among White women than among Black women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

When to Obtain a Screening

The American Cancer Society recommends women between 40 and 44 years of age have an annual mammogram, should they wish to do so, and women 45 to 54 years of age have yearly mammograms Women 55 and older may switch to mammograms every two years or can continue yearly screening Given the considerable proof that screening reduces the rates of advanced and fatal breast cancers, all women should talk to their doctors about when they should begin mammography screening based

on their family history and other risks

Breast Cancer Services

Breast cancer screening technology includes digital mammography, sensory suites, contrast enhanced mammography and Tomosynthesis

Where to Start

Study after study demonstrates that incident and mortality rates often increase with delayed screenings The best way to care for yourself and those you love is to obtain a breast screening, today Use this October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month as a catalyst to get up to date with your mammogram and any other health screenings your doctor recommends

Jamaica Tallawahs stun Barbados Royals to win third HERO CPL title

Jamaica Tallawahs lifted their third Caribbean Premier League title when they stunned favorites Barbados Royals by eight wickets in the finals in Guyana Friday night.

Tasked with chasing 162 at the Guyana National Stadium, Tallawahs made light work of the target, getting over the line with 23 balls to spare Player-of-the-Series Brandon King stroked a classy unbeaten 83 from 50 balls with 13 fours and two sixes while Shamarh Brooks hit 47 from 33 deliveries, Tallawahs recovering from the loss of Kennar Lewis to the fourth ball of the innings to dominate in the end Azam Khan had earlier top scored with 51 from 40 balls while Rahkeem Cornwall slammed 36 from 21 deliveries but Royals slumped from a promising 117 for two in the 15th over to a disappointing 161 for seven off their 20 overs

The architects of their downfall were left arm spinner Fabian Allen (3 24) and fast bowler Nicholson Gordon (3 33), the pair grabbing three wickets apiece to haul Tallawahs back into the contest

For Tallawahs, the title triumph added to those of 2013 and 2016 and came on the back of an up and down group stage campaign that saw them finish fourth

opposition – I thought they played very well

“I just thought we were like 20 runs short With the start that me and [Cornwall got] I thought we could have gotten 180 but 160 in a final, I thought it was a decent total still ”

Opting to bat, Royals roared from the blocks, Cornwall clobbering two fours and four sixes and the left handed Mayers, half dozen fours, in a 63 run opening stand

When Allen removed both to leave the innings on 69 for two in the eighth over, Azam came to the rescue, putting on 48 for the third wicket with Jason Holder (17) and 23 for the fourth with Najibullah Zadran (6) before the rot set in

Azam belted four fours and three sixes but missed a charge at Allen and was stumped in the penultimate over

“We used the disrespect we endured as motivation I think we were hungry The guys were very hungry, and everything just ended right ” Royals entered the final having lost just two games in the group stage which they topped comfortably but produced a lackluster effort when they could least afford to

“It's a tough pill to swallow Obviously, we ' ve done well throughout the season only losing three games,” said Royals captain Kyle Mayers who made 29 from 19 deliveries

“But tonight, was a crucial night to win the game and the guys didn't cross the line. Kudos to the

Royals then put their noses in front when Mayers yorked Lewis for a first ball 'duck' with one run on the board, but King anchored two successive half century run stands to erase any doubt about the result

First, the right hander put on 86 for the first wicket with Brooks who followed up his sparkling hundred on Wednesday with another integral knock, containing half dozen fours and two sixes

When Brooks holed out to deep backward square in the 11th over, King dominated a 75 run, unbroken third wicket partnership with Powell (14 not out) to keep the chase on course
