Soccer fever has been rising in South Florida as the 2018 FIFA World Cup is now underway in Russia. But, the fever notched up a few degrees higher on Wednesday with news that the 2026 World Cup will be played in North America. FIFA, the body responsible for the soccer World Cup, announced on Wednesday that for the first time, it had selected the North American nations of the United States, Canada and Mexico as joint hosts for the 23rd World Cup in 2026. This tournament is slated to be the largest tournament with 48 teams scheduled to compete in 80 matches, up from 32 teams. In 2026, 60 of the tournament's matches will be played on fields in the US, including everything from the quarter-finals onwards, while Mexico and Canada will host 10 games each. The news is great for South Florida. Although the sites for the 2026 games are yet to be decided on, there is already speculation that matches are likely to be played on the state-of-the-art soccer pitch at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. There is also the possibility that by 2020, a MLS state-of-the-artsoccer stadium will be in place, owned and operated by English soccer star David Beckham. When the Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross recently spent millions of dollars to refurbish the Miami Gardens stadium in which his NFL team

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Giminez is confident that matches, including quarterfinals and even a semi-final game, will be played in Miami. “I am very confident matches will be played in Miami,” he said. “This will be a great thing for Miami, as the World Cup is like the Super-Bowl on steroids.” Mayor Giminez predicted that matches played in the region would be extremely good for South Florida businesses, as the matches could contribute “millions” to the local economy. “The total impact in the U.S. is estimated to be $4.2 billion dollars,” he added. Bernard McDonald, a Caribbean-American soccer coach in West Kendall, is tremendously excited about the World Cup coming to the USA. “I do think several games will be played in Miami,” McDonald told CNW. “Miami has several advantages. It's the gateway to the US; has a vast enthusiastic soccer market and has a first-class stadium and should have another one added in two to three years.” “This news, along with the expectation of the Beckham MLS team in Miami in another few years is like a blood transfusion for soccer in South Florida. I am super-excited,” Coach McDonald added. The 2026 World Cup will be played over 34 days, The US previously hosted the World Cop in 1994, when matches were played in several stadiums including in Orlando's Citrus Bowl. The Cup Final was played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Mexico hosted the tournament twice previously, in 1970 and 1986. Canada has never hosted World Cup matches.

Jamaican Appointed To Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court A Jamaican-born judge has been elevated to MiamiDade's Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, which is the largest in the state and the fourth largest trial court in the nation. Judge Renatha S. Francis, 40, was appointed to the Court by Governor Rick Scott. Her promotion to the Circuit Court follows her initial appointment to the bench by Governor Scott to the Miami-Dade County Court in August 2017 to fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Jason E. Dimitris to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court. Judge Francis joins Judge Tanya Brinkley and retiring Judge Teretha Lundy as the only three black women of the 123 judges currently serving Miami-Dade County. After more than 25 years, Judge Francis is only the second black female judge appointed to the Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County. She follows Hon. Melvia Green (ret.), who in 1989, was the first black female judge to be appointed to a judicial circuit in Florida. Judge Francis attended the Bridgeport Primary and St. Hugh's High for Girls in Jamaica. Judge Francis received her bachelor's degree from the University of the West Indies and her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2010. Prior to her initial appointment to the bench, she practiced with Shutts & Bowen, LLP. She had specialized in representing insurance providers in personal injury protection litigation. Judge Francis also previously served in multiple positions with the First District Court Appeal, including as an attorney to Judge Scott Makar, staff attorney, and law clerk to Judge Peter Webster.

Former Jamaican PM Given Leave To Appeal To UK Privy Council The Court of Appeal granted leave to former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and other senior officials of the main opposition People's National Party (PNP) to take the so-called Trafigura matter to the London-based Privy Council – Jamaica's highest court. In February, the Appeal Court had reserved judgment in the application filed by lawyers representing the former prime minister challenging, among other things, a decision by the Supreme Court to make an order that Simpson Miller, Phillip Paulwell, Robert Pickersgill, Colin Campbell and Norton Hinds can answer questions in open court from Dutch investigators probing the J$31 million donation to the PNP in 2006. Dutch firm Trafigura Baheer made the donation to the PNP while the Jamaican government had an oil-lifting agreement with the company even though Dutch firms are prohibited from making donations to foreign governments. Now Dutch investigators want Simpson Miller and the other PNP officials to answer questions in public about the donation. Attorney Patrick Atkinson, who is among the attorneys representing the PNP officials, said the court's decision is based on a matter of rights under Section 110 of the Constitution that stipulates that the Court of Appeal may grant leave to the Privy Council where, in its opinion, the question involved in the appeal is one that, by reason of its great general or public importance or otherwise, ought to be submitted to Her Majesty in Council. Atkinson says the applicants have 90 days within which to file an appeal.
A Medical Cannabis Unit Established In Jamaica Jamaica seems to be following the lead of Canada and many US states in pursuing legal growth of the medical marijuana sector. Jamaica's Minister of Health Dr. Christopher Tufton recently established a Medicinal Cannabis Unit in the country to facilitate the medical marijuana industry's development in Jamaica. Tufton made the disclosure last week in a ministry paper tabled by the minister in Parliament. To date he said, the MCU has registered approximately 61 medicinal cannabis products, manufactured locally and overseas. Permits for locally manufactured marijuana products must be obtained from the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) and the Pharmacy Council. Without the permits, companies supplying registered products have no choice but to import these for local distribution. Though not mandatory, the ministry strongly recommends training in the area of medicinal cannabis for all persons involved in providing these products for patients. Training can be done locally, overseas, face-to-face or online. Since July 2017, the MCU has achieved the following activities: registration of 61 medicinal cannabis products and five medicinal cannabis applicators (devices); and providing two local manufacturing entities with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification for producing medicinal cannabis products. Additionally, more than 30 travel permits were awarded to tourists/visitors/returning residents to bring in prescription products not available locally; and five permits have been granted to local residents to use medicinal cannabis as recommended by their physicians.

Diaspora. One of his special episodes was a show on a Jamaican bush doctor in the Bronx, NY and visits to “Puerto Rico” in the Bronx. Bourdain visited Jamaican many times, enjoying the jerk chicken at Scotchies, playing dominoes and sipping Red Stripe. He also travelled to Haiti, the Cayman Islands, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Maarten, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and the Dominican Republic, to experience a variety of exotic cuisines, including rundown, fried fish, bake and shark and doubles. Bourdain's body will be shipped back from France for burial in the US.

Do you think the meeting between President Trump and Kim Jung Un of North Korea will improve relations between the two countries? Shirley, Miami, FL “I'm not a big fan of President Trump nor Kim Jong Un of North Korea but I do hope this meeting is beneficial in a positive way for all sides. It seems people forget the monster this man has been to his own people. People like him don't do peace; there's always a price.”
Deborah, Coral Springs, FL “Months ago, liberals were concerned that Trump was going to start World War 3, but this meeting with Kim Jung Un of North Korea is honestly looking like a better chance at peace for us all. Trump's meeting with North Korea is a historic meeting as the first US President to ever meet a North Korean leader.”
Paul, Miami, FL “In a way, I couldn't even believe this meeting was happening. I bet not a single incremental thing was accomplished in this agreement. This historic moment is probably more like a photo-op and everyone is falling for it. We'll wait and see what is actually accomplished.”

Being Fathers That Care During Father's Day two years ago, three South Florida CaribbeanAmerican men huddled in frustration over drinks, wallowing in self-pity as the day rushed by and neither of them received as much as a phone call from their children. But these men had something in common. They were absentee fathers, having abandoned their parental responsibility to the mothers of their children. The unfortunate experience of these three fathers will likely be repeated on Sunday, Father's Day, in local communities and in the Caribbean, as the incidences of absentee fathers continue to grow. Thousands of children, many now adults, have been reared without a father's love or presence. It's no wonder the commemoration of Father's Day pale in comparison with the hype and excitement Mother's Day brings. This unbalanced comparison is indicative of the continuous, growing matriarchal pattern of the society. The absence of father's in their children's life is the source of serious adverse behavior in large percentages of children. Recent reports indicate the absence of a father contributes to over 60 percent of juvenile delinquency among American public-school students. Another indicated some 47 percent of young men and women incarcerated in American prisons for felonies are from homes without fathers. And yet another report stipulates that a significant percentage of incidences of suicide among young people between age 10 and 19 years of age, are youth without father's in their lives. Several sociologists and psychiatrists have concluded that children being brought up in homes without fathers, and without fathers contacting the children, even by phone occasionally, are “often demotivated, tend to be frequently depressed, act antisocially, and are slow learners;” and the absence of the father in any aspect of the child's life, especially
Recent reports indicate the absence of a father contributes to over 60 percent of juvenile delinquency among public-school students. And some 47 percent of young adults incarcerated for felonies are from homes without fathers. during their teen years, “places tremendous pressure on the child's mother or guardians.” Innumerable pages have been written about the irresponsibility of fathers towards their children. Courts in this and other countries are overcrowded with cases of mothers filing lawsuits against absentee, irresponsible fathers for child support. Yet, despite harsh penalties meted out to these “deadbeat” fathers, countless men still refuse to support their children financially. But children need more than financial support from their fathers. A child, especially a male child, needs the emotional bonding that a father should be giving.
It's often difficult for mothers, most of whom work away from home, to be able to provide the required emotional support plus enforce discipline over her children. A male child, in particular, as he grows older in the absence of that father figure, seeks to bond and spend more time with his peers on the street, graduating too often into gangs and serious anti-social activities. It's much easier for such a child to succumb to peer pressure when there is no father figure around. In this technologically advanced age, there's no reason for a man to not even try to make regularly contact with his child/children by phone, e-mail, or text. Often, the father is separated from the child because of a split in the relationship with the child's mother, but this is no excuse for him to ignore the child. A group of young men and women interviewed recently on a Cable-TV program passionately expressed the need to be able to at least speak with their father “once in a while” and “get his opinion and advice on certain aspects” of their lives. One young lady spoke of the pain she feels of “having a father and not ever hearing from him” although he lives in the same town as her. Fathers, who may have been hurt because of the broken relationship with their ex-wife or ex-lover, must nonetheless remain interested in the welfare of the child/children from that relationship. The child should never be a target for spite because of the broken relationship. Neither should mothers try to spite the child's father by not allowing him to have access to his child, either by direct visitation or phone calls. In this real world, the incidences of men fathering children will not decrease. That's a fact of life. However, what needs to decrease is the blatant, growing irresponsibility of fathers who walk away once they learn their female partner is pregnant with their child. This is a sociological problem that must be constantly addressed. There would be real progress if more fathers would seriously stop and consider that it takes two to responsibly raise a child, just as it takes two to create that child. If a man creates a child, he must be sure to be the father that cares.

LA SECTION HAITIENNE
Citizenship Of Immigrant Revoked For Lying A Haitian immigrant has had her U.S. citizenship revoked and sentenced to jail time after being found guilty of lying about her name to become naturalized. News Americas reports indicate that Enite Alindor, also known as Odette Dureland, will have to spend the next five months in federal prison even as authorities moved to revoke her July 2012 naturalization as a U.S. citizen. According to court documents, Alindor, 55, a citizen of Haiti, applied for asylum with the
then Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in Miami in 1997. After the agency denied that application, the United States Immigration Court ordered her to be removed from the United States. Shortly thereafter, Alindor presented herself to the INS as Odettte Dureland and filed for asylum protection under that new identity. The Winter Haven resident obscured the fact that she had previously applied for status in the United States as Enite Alindor and she concealed the fact that she was under a final order for removal from the United States. USCIS personnel, unaware of the Alindor identity and order of removal, approved Dureland for citizenship in July 2012 and she
was naturalized as a U.S. citizen under that name in July 2012. However, under “Operation Second Look,” a nationwide investigation now being conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to review multiple cases across the United States of immigrants who gained citizenship by concealing from the INS their prior orders of deportation and orders of removal from the United States, Alindor's true identity was revealed. She was indicted last May, found guilty on March 2, 2018 and sentenced on June 7, 2018. The immigrant could now face deportation after she serves jail time to a country in which she has nothing.

“start that conversation, a dialogue” about the Haitian culture and the various cultures depicted in the show. Jean-Baptiste conveyed that “without authenticity, the show doesn't exist.” Ramirez, who is from Venezuela, shared that growing up she saw no one looking like her on TV, and in writing this show, she wanted to share some of her nationally with the audience. Adaptive Studios, Complex Networks, and Miami Dade College's Miami Film Festival premiered the series on June 5, 2018, at the Tower Theater in Miami. Two episodes were shown and was followed by a Q, and A session with the writers, led by Miami Film Festival's Executive Director & Director of Programming, Jaie Laplante. The theater was packed and the audience was noticeably enthusiastic. Many described it as “authentic, real, and funny.” The show can be accessed now on the Complex Network.
Jerry LaMothe's screenplay was one of the three projects selected to receive a grant from the WJSFF during the New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment first “Made in NY” media summit in Harlem. The Promise Keeper follows a criticallyacclaimed Haitian-American writer, who visits Haiti for the first time following his best friend's deportation back to Haiti. The film, which Lamothe worked on for six years, is inspired by true events and “pays homage” to the filmmaker's childhood best friend and father. “It was definitely both a surprise and an honor to receive a grant from the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation,” Lamothe said. “I wasn't even made aware of their participation up until the day before the event. When they announced we were recipients of a grant during the ceremony, I was definitely touched.”
Haitian-American duo, Joshua Jean-Baptiste and Edson Jean, have hit the jackpot with their new series, GROWN. This new series was created by Jean-Baptiste, Jean, and Maria Corina Ramirez and is a spin-off of the show that won Project Greenlight in 2016, which was a joint venture launched by Verizon and Hearst. Both Jean-Baptiste and Jean star in “GROWN,” “which is a comedy about the ups and downs of two dichotomous twentysomething cousins who are forced to cohabit.” The duo states they wanted this show to be authentic with real Haitian actors and actresses, along with other nationalities such as Cuban and Venezuelans, which they have succeeded in doing. Jean-Baptiste said the show is important to

$40 Million Opening For All-Female Movie Featuring Rihanna
Mavado's Son Remanded To Detention Center
Rihanna and the strong allfemale cast of Ocean's 8 have opened with a strong weekend, raking in over $40 million.
The 17-year-old son of Jamaican entertainer David 'Mavado' Brooks has been remanded to a juvenile detention center on the heels of the murder of 23-yearold Lorenza Thomas, otherwise called 'Israel' or 'Trulups' of Cassava Piece Road.
According to Variety, 69 percent of the audiences that saw the film were women. In the movie, the Bajan singer turned entrepreneur and actress plays the dreadlocked Nine Ball and is part of an allfemale cast of thieves that plans to heist one of the most exclusive events in the United States. The film –– which also stars Awkwafina, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter.
Thomas was reportedly at home early in the morning when armed men kicked in the door to the house that he occupied and shot and then chopped him to death. His body was then set ablaze. His killing is believed to be a reprisal following the shooting incident involving Mavado more than a week ago. Five men, including Mavado's son Dantay Brooks, were picked up at his Norbrook, St. Andrew residence last Tuesday. Dantay Brooks has not been released because he is still a minor, has been transferred to the Metcalfe Street Secure Juvenile Remand Centre, while all the other four men, including the singer's brother and cousin, have been released. Jamaica police has sent out an advisory urging Mavado to report to them for questioning in connection with the violence in Cassava Piece. His attorneys say he is overseas and are making arrangements for his return to the island to meet with cops, RJR News reported.

Spice Makes The Day Of One Lucky High Schooler Dancehall artist and reality TV star, Spice, has made the day of one lucky high schooler. The Love and Hip Hop Atlanta cast member recently launched the Grace Hamilton Women Empowerment Foundation and partnered with JLM couture, VaSeanBrielle Nail Boutique, Empire Beauty School and hair brand Lola's Hair to provide a unique opportunity for young women at NYC's John Dewey High School on a prom giveaway competition, according to The Source. Applicants were asked to submit a statement of why they should be considered for the prize, and from that pool, the winner was Leslie Peña. The win gave Pena her prom dress and shoes and well as hair, makeup and accessories to attend the prom. She and a guest were also treated to a complimentary pre-prom meal at a local restaurant.
Rising Star Disses Sean Kingston And Tommy Lee Reggae star and Portmore resident, Jahmiel, is dissing Jamaican American singer, Sean Kingston, and dancehall's Tommy Lee Sparta in his latest single. In “Dead Bwoy Leroy,” Jahmiel slammed back at Sparta, who has been dissing him recently, singing: “Tell the demon satan fraid a me / A the whole Jamaica want gun him down / When them see Sean Kingston a rub him down / The demon say mmmm like a dumb him dumb.” Sparta and Jahmiel have been going backand-forth with diss tracks after diss tracks according to Urban Islandz. This latest joint from the singjay seems to have hit a chord over at the Spartan camp because Kingston is now caught in the crossfire.

PART 3
World Cup Preview GROUP G Belgium England Tunisia Panama
This should be a battle between Belgium and England with Tunisia having an outside chance. Panama should find the going difficult.
Belgium Belgium possesses an extremely talented team. However, they seem to lack that winning experience and killer instinct to go all the way. In Eden Hazard, Belgium possesses one of the most gifted players in soccer. Hazard, supported by Kevin de Bruyne and Mousa Dembele, will form arguable the best mid-field in the competition and should be expected to dominate most teams in the mid-field area. Belgium qualified unbeaten in World Cup qualification, scoring a total of 37 goals in 10 games. With leading goal scorer, Romelu Lukaku with 11 goals leading the way, Belgium owns a capable center forward. Belgium is also well organized at the back with Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Kompnay, Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen. They possess capable defenders to assist Thibaut Courtois in goal. The question for Belgium will be whether they will find that spirit and will to compete. If they find do, look out as they will be dangerous and the semi -finals may not be out of the question for them.
England England's road to the World Cup was not difficult. They went undefeated, winning eight games and drawing two; scoring 15 goals in 10 games while conceding three. Captain Harry Kane was their leading scorer with 5 goals, but no other member of the present team scored more than1 goal. England has a fairly young group of players in Dele Alli and Raheem Sterling. England possesses two young players with immense talent and creativity and England will be hoping that both these players have a good World
Cup and lend assistance to Harry Kane. Their defense has been well organized with the likes of John Stones, Gary Cahill and Kyle Walker and should be able to hold their own at this level. England's first task is to get out of the group stage and then take it one game at a time.
Tunisia Tunisia was unbeaten in their African Group with 4 wins and 2 draws, scoring 11 goals and conceding 4. Tunisia has been greatly affected by the loss of their top marksman, Yousseff Msakni, due to injury. However, Tunisia is an extremely athletic team and their strength lies in the mid-field with Ellyes Skhiri, Ben Amor and Ferjani Sassi being all gifted players. Depending on their tactical approach against both Belgium and England, that will decide whether they can steal the top two spaces and advance to the second round.
Panama Panama's qualified for the World Cup finishing third in the CONCACAF qualifiers. They are an organized group but can be considered inexperienced and a bit tactically naïve. Panama will depend a lot on their defensive unit, led by the hard-tackling Roman Torres, to withstand the pressure from the opponents. In mid-field the hardworking Armando Cooper will required to put in a lot of miles to protect Panama's defense. Forward Ismael Diaz will need to make use of the limited chances that can be expected to come his way. But in the end, this World Cup will serve as a developing experience for the advancement of Panama's soccer. Belgium should top the group and England will be the runners up.

World Cup Preview This group should be one of the most competitive groups. Poland, in my opinion, is the dark horse of this World Cup but with Senegal and Colombia posing serious treats to their route to the second round. No team can afford to relax as advancing from this group could come down to goal difference. Japan, the fourth team in this group, will be hard pressed to progress from the group. But could take a point or two from their more fancied rivals.
Poland
Senegal
It has been some time since Poland has assembled a team with such talent. One must go back to the golden era of Polish soccer - 1974 -1978 - when Poland was led then by their prolific marksman Grzegorz Lato, who was the leading goal scorer for the 1974 World Cup with seven goals. This time around, Poland will be led by Robert Lewandowski, their current goal scorer and World Cup qualifying top marksman, with 16 goals. He will be supported by the talented attacking mid-fielder, Piotr Zielinski, who is also expected to get on the score sheet. Poland has a strong, well-organized back three defensive unit led by Kamil Glik and supported by Michal Pazdan, Lukasz Piszczek. Teams will find them difficult to break down and they will be extremely dangerous on the counter attack. It will come as no surprise if they make it to the semi-final.
Senegal is undoubtingly one of the top teams in Africa. Senegal went unbeaten during the African World Cup qualification, scoring 10 goals and conceding 3 in 6 matches. The Senegal team is very athletic and is well organized defensively. Led by the central defensive pairing of Salif Sane and Kalidou Koulibaly, along with goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo manning the goal, Senegal will certainly be difficult to beat. In mid-field, the Senegalese will be well served with the hardworking defensive mid-fielders Cheikh N'Doye and Idrissa Gueye. They will be supported by two of Senegal's rising stars in Ismaila Sarr and Mbaye Niang. In attack, they have the hard working and skillful Sadio Mane, who has the ability to run defenders ragged. He should be partnership in attack with Diafra Sakho, who can also be a handful. Senegal is Africa's best hope to advance.
Columbia
Japan
Columbia finished fourth and took the final South American automatic qualifying spot. Columbia possesses an extremely balanced squad with some gifted players. James Rodriguez, the 2014 Golden Cup Golden boot winner with 6 goals for Colombia is a match winner. He will be well supported by fellow mid-fielder, Juan Cuadrado, the World Cup 2014 leading assist man. Columbia will also welcome their top marksman, Radamel Falcao, who missed the last World Cup due to injury. Radamel Falcao should partner the dangerous Luis Fernando Muriel in attack and they will be a handful for the opposing team. At the back, Columbia has the experience with Cristian Zapata and the steady Davinson Sanchez will provide protection for goalkeeper David Ospina. They might be setting their eyes on a semi-final spot.
Japan topped their Asian qualifying group over Saudi Arab and Australia to secure their World Cup berth. The Japanese are known for their well organized and disciplined approach. How Japan fairs in this group will depend on the outcome of their first game against Colombia. Japan's performance coming into the World Cup has been average at best. They seem like a team lacking in confidence but should not be taken for granted. A lot will depend on their experienced goalkeeper, Eiji Kawashima, and central defender Maya Yoshida. They should be supported by Japan's talented wings backs, Hiroki Sakai on the right and Yuto Nagatomo on the left, to keep it tight at the back. If Japan is to advance, they will have to be at their very best. When it's all over, Poland will top the group ahead of Columbia.

Top Caribbean Athletes Shine At JN Racers Grand Prix Several Caribbean and Caribbean American athletes were in winning form at the JN Racers Grand Prix meeting at Jamaica's National Stadium in Kingston last weekend. Former World and Olympic female sprint champion, Jamaica's Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce, returned to winning form after giving birth, as she claimed gold in the 100-meters with a seasonal best of 11.10 secs. This was the 'Pocket Rocket's first international meet at home since she gave birth to a son last August. Jumping a little late out of the blocks Fraser Pryce turned on the speed at the 40meter mark and powered to the finish ahead of Jenna Prandini of the US who had a time of 11.14 and Florida-based Jamaican American teen sensation, 16-year old Brianna Williams. Her win against Prandini came a week after she lost to the Americans at a meet in the Cayman Islands.
Other Wins Meanwhile, Jamaican Leah Nugent, with a time of 54.67, won over her compatriot and event favorite Janieve Russell, 54.89, in the women's 400-m hurdles. In the men's 110-m hurdles Hansle Parchment produced a late burst of speed over the final two barriers to edge Ronald Levy 13.31 to 13.32. In the field events, Jamaican Danniel Thomas-Dodd, won the women's shot put with a heave of 18.59-m while current world number two, Raven Saunders of the US, was second with 18.57. Bahamian Jamal Wilson won the men's high jump with a jump of 2.24-m while Jamaican Shanieka Ricketts won the triple jump with a leap of 14.39-m.
Grenada's Kirani James Wins
Bahamas' Shaunae MillerUbio Stays Consistent
Grenadian quarter-miler, Kirani James, also made a winning comeback at the meet, his first international race since April 2017. James nipped American Fred Kerley at the tape to win in a time of 44.35 ahead of Kerley's 44.36. Fellow Grenadian Bralon Taplin was third in a time of 45.11.
Bahamian Olympian, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, continued her impressive streak of victories this season winning the 200-m in 22.11. over Jamaica's Shericka Jackson with 22.62. “The 400 is my favorite event but I'm doing very well in the 200,” Miller-Uibo said gleefully. “I'm very consistent.”
Bolt Is Man-Of-The-Match But World XI Loses Retired Jamaican Olympian star, Usain Bolt, earned manof-the-match honors Sunday even though he could not help his World XI side to a win at Soccer Aid 2018. World XI lost in a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to England in the charity match. Bolt captained
the side and gave a decent performance, even putting the ball in the back of the 28th minute though the goal was called back for offside. He found the goal in the 39th minute again but fired his shot just wide. Bolt did end up managing to give his team the lead but later saw the effort cancelled out as the England team took the lead then won the shootout. In regular time England took the lead through former national striker Darren Bent and freestyle footballer Jeremy Lynch doubled
SCAN ME
their lead soon after. The World XI hit back, however, and led the match after goals by Robbie Keane, Juan Sebastian Veron and Clarence Seedorf, but Michael Owen showed a bit of sharp finishing to equalize with only minutes left and send the game into a shootout which left England the winners. Bolt's appearance comes as he fell to 45th on the Forbes list of highest-earning athletes for the year, with last year's reported earnings coming up to US$34.2 million.
