Bob McTague In 2006 when Bob McTague moved from his hometown of Boston to Syracuse, he began buying investment properties as a way to supplement his income. After going through the buying process, he noticed something very unsettling about the real estate agents that were assisting him.

“No one was really looking out for my best interest,” says Bob. “With investment properties, there’s a lot of good (ones) and some bad (ones).”

Seeing a need to help others, Bob decided to get into the residential real estate market in order to change the way agents market and sell property.

“I felt as though I was not getting the best service and many agents were not marketing their listings correctly,” Bob says, “and knew I could do better.”

Not only did Bob sell real estate better than most, he became Syracuse’s top agent. In 2012, he and the CNY Agent Team [His small team under Coldwell Banker] sold real estate better than everyone. Out of 1,200 real estate agents in the Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, and Cayuga county areas, his team ranked No. 1 for total transactions and volume in the multiple listing service. “I do it all,” says Bob, who sells 150 homes per year on average and helps buyers and sellers from all walks of life and price ranges. “As the market shifts I can adapt quickly and keep my business profitable.”

While property value has only seen a 1-2% increase/decrease each year in Syracuse, something Bob says is a very fortunate thing, his ability to market himself while providing brutally honest customer service has had even

more to do with his success and the success of his team.

“I’m really consumer-centric with everything I do,” admits Bob. “It’s about helping people. I tell people the honest truth if they let me.”

They couldn’t believe all the offers they received within 30 days of posting and then were blown away when it sold at the list price. “Just as promised, Bob kept us informed during the listing and sale process,” says David. “The closing went without a hitch, and we are very pleased with all aspects of the transaction.”

Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing, Bob is an expert in market data and statistics. He fully understands how to brand himself in order to develop relationships and send the right message to his target market.

A big fan of social media, Bob understands its importance and says it’s crucial to business and meeting client goals. “All social media, not just Facebook, is a platform, technological advancement and a way to resonate with your audience,” he says. “Google Plus, Google Hangouts, YouTube, these are all branding tools.”
