DO I DARE? By Aime Hutton

HAVE YOU EVER DONE SOMETHING THAT SCARES YOU? That really you had no experience in? This was me in the spring of 2010. I had been training with a top Latin and ballroom dance champion in a fitness class that fused together Latin dancing and Burlesque dancing from 2007 till 2010. Many of my girlfriends were wondering what I was doing because they had seen such a shift in me. I had many of them come up to me and say “Aime, what are you doing? I want to learn what you’re doing. Can you show me please?” That is what got me thinking. Maybe I could start my own business. Although, I had no experience in doing so. How do I do my prices, how do I advertise, who can help me? I do not have a business degree from University, I have a degree in Sociology and Women’s Studies! I felt like a fish out of water!

Although, I knew that what I was going to teach, and inspire the women is something that is needed in the world. So what did I start to IT’S ALL do? I started telling ABOUT LIFTING friends that sure I’ll OTHERS AS show you some things. WE ALL CLIMB I began to inspire the women to move their bodies, and give themselves the self-love they deserve. I still didn’t really have clients, it was something I was good at though. In January of 2011 I went to an event dinner for eWomen Network, having been introduced to the Managing Director at a different meeting a couple of days before this event dinner. I only knew a couple of women at this event.

Everyone there was super friendly and wanting to know more about me, and what I did, and how they could help me. Being a part of the largest international networking organization for women in business has been amazing. It’s all about lifting others as we all climb.

SO THEN WHAT? I kept putting one foot in front of the other. I was guided to do different activities to raise awareness in my business, for example, speaking at events. Was I scared, and the question of do I dare came back into my head. I had others believing in me before I could believe in myself. I did it though, putting myself out there more to be seen to dance my own dance of life. I started believing in myself even more. The confidence grew. I also began writing more

in a blog site, and eventually wrote a short story about a true life challenge that is being published in a collaboration of authors into one book this June. Letting others help me along the way has also been super important. Allowing others to guide me, and mentor me. Having femtors who’ve been in business has been a blessing.

LETTING OTHERS HELP ME ALONG THE WAY HAS ALSO BEEN SUPER IMPORTANT.

Find something you are passionate about. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, believe in yourself, and let others help you!

A DECISION POINT:

MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT By Blaze Lazarony

MAKING A DECISION IS LIKE STEPPING INTO THE LIGHT FOR A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS OWNER. Every day we come face to face with critical decisions that are complicated, challenging, and even nerve-racking. And when we make a decision, we know we are ultimately aligning with our version of happiness, success, and fulfillment for both our businesses and ourselves. Four years ago, I made an important decision for my life and business, a decision that I knew could bring me my version of fulfillment, success, and happiness. I wholeheartedly believed in the phrase whispered to Ray Kinsella in the 1989 movie, Field of Dreams: “If you build it, they will come.” So I built it. I had an initial business idea, I rented a beautiful space that I thought I could be successful in, and finally, I invited people to join me. I had my doubts, and I also had faith; I wanted to allow my dreams to come into reality.

And they came month after month- full of their insights and compliments, as well as their reflections and fears. It was everything I’d ever wanted, and nothing I’d ever fully imagined. Who knew that one decision could make all of this happen? As I was locking the door, just as I had done for eleven months, I felt something stir within me. I wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but it felt tired, restless, and longing for something different all at the same time.


I decided to honor my complex feelings; I took some time off and simply rested. When it was time to begin again, I decided to change my entire business model- it just felt like it was time to commit to a new decision, a new version of success. And the universe responded again—they came. And now new groups of people were coming, week after week - full of insights and compliments, as well as their reflections and fears. This feeling continued for eighteen months, and then I knew. I knew it was time to give my notice, remove my furniture, and close the doors for the last time. The day I gave my notice, I was scared to death; I didn’t know where or how I’d meet with

coaching and writing clients. And yet I trusted; I let go of the physical space I thought I needed to be successful, and made a decision to be successful.

DING, MY LIGHT BULB MOMENT!

I didn’t have to do anything; I simply had to be myself to be successful. The phrase whispered to Ray in Field of Dreams was close to the one I heard the day I gave my notice, and yet it is uniquely different too, it is: “If you be yourself, they will come.”

I DIDN’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING; I SIMPLY HAD TO BE MYSELF TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

DARE TO PLAY

DIFFERENTLY by Gina Bell

I HAVE A CONFESSION…

I love all things collaboration but, I’m not a fan of “pay to play anthologies” sometimes referred to as vanity anthologies where writers invest THOUSANDS of dollars to become a published author. Some might say that’s the rebel talking but it reaches beyond that for me personally (to each their own). Let me explain… The premise of a pay to play anthology is inherently good – it’s an opportunity for entrepreneurs and business owners to enhance their professional image by presenting themselves as a published author and using the anthology as a big business card. I love that.

BUT, HERE’S WHERE THEY LOSE ME…

In this model, writers pay upfront for inclusion in the anthology – usually by purchasing a large # of books (hundreds) and marketing materials – and the person(s) compiling the book earn substantial profit at the writer’s expense.

is taking advantage of entrepreneurs who don’t know what they don’t know. The commonly leveraged selling point of this model is how much profit the writer can realize if they sell the books, since they’re purchasing them at a wholesale price. And this is true, BUT… “newbie” entrepreneurs are the target audience here. And, if the contributing author doesn’t have a captive audience (community, tribe, list) it’s not so easy to sell the books – not to mention find somewhere to store the darned things! Many co-authors in this case never recoup their investment.

THANKFULLY, THERE’S ANOTHER WAY TO APPROACH CO-PUBLISHING…

When I decided to publish Success Rituals 2.0 my call for co-authors involved a one-time $97 commitment fee. And you might be thinking “but isn’t that pay to play?”

Now don’t get me wrong – I’m all for making money – especially profit. What I am against

Not in the traditional sense... My goal was cost recovery. A true collaboration of mutual benefit. The “profitability” element was planned for the back end – not at the expense of the co-authors. An innovative edge made it a no-brainer and confirming 29 co-authors was quick & easy. I handled the publishing side of the project and the co-author team simply agreed to participate in an Amazon book launch and leverage the book beyond that as they wanted to – including selling the digital version from their own sites. End result: Together we achieved #1 best-seller status. Co-authors could leverage the title of BestSelling Author (a huge credibility boost) and

order books at wholesale – IF THEY WANT TO. What they choose to do with the book and status (or not) is up to them. Simple and mutually beneficial. I dared to do it differently not knowing how it would turn out. That’s the spirit of innovation – risk precedes the reward.

ENCOURAGING YOUR CLIENTS TO BECOME EARLY ADOPTERS By Erin Ferree

DO YOU WORRY THAT YOUR CLIENTS WILL FREAK OUT AT YOUR INNOVATIVE IDEAS INSTEAD OF JUMPING ONBOARD? Recently, I changed my business direction abruptly, after discovering a brand-new way to make interactive ebooks – with video, audio, slide shows and more embedded directly in with the text. This technology makes it possible to teach your clients in a whole new way, and to make free ebooks fun and engaging instead of blah and boring.

I was afraid to tell my clients about this, because it was a big change from what I’d been teaching. My coach said, “You have to teach this now, while it’s still new. Before it’s too late.” She reminded me that there are people out there who love to hop on new trends first…. early adopters. People who embrace new technology before most other people do.

EARLY ADOPTERS CAN CHANGE THE GAME FOR YOU BECAUSE THEY’RE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT CHANGE AND EXCITED TO PLAY WITH NEW THINGS. They may be excited about the potential for their business, to learn something new, or, perhaps they think it’s fun and cool.

They’re easy to keep happy because they’re excited, so long as you’re delivering on your promises and serving them well. They’re fantastic clients to have. The question is, how to turn more of the clients you already have into early adopters for your next innovative idea?

HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED: If you’re making a transition from one thing to something completely different, be up-front about the change. Tell them why you’re shifting gears and what’s in it for them. Connect the dots and bridge the gap between the old and the new. Give them as much lead time as you can to get used to the new idea.

Get Beta testers. Let a few people try out your new offering at a low or no investment so you can get more of their feedback. They’ll help you work out the kinks, ask for things you didn’t know were important and help make your offering better for everyone.

Emphasize the advantages of being first. Offer introductory pricing or a sneak preview to let them see what you’re doing. Spend some time figuring out why it will benefit them to do this before anyone else and let them know.

Whenever you’re innovating, make your clients as comfortable as possible. Use metaphors to explain your fresh idea in a friendly way. Graphics and video make a new concept make sense for the visual learners in your tribe. Open the doors for Q&A for people to ask their questions and get non-salesy answers. Ask for their input and make them feel heard.

Go first and let them know what happens. Test the waters first and be completely transparent about the results. Look for successes as well as failures so that you can improve the process and tell your story more believably.

GETTING PAST THE GATEKEEPER by Tracy Dacko

MY FIRST OFFICIAL DAY AS A BUSINESS OWNER… I had left my comfortable corporate position as a creative director to venture into the world of entrepreneurship – a chance to chase my dreams and live a more freedom-filled existence. The reality? I lived alone, had a mortgage and a car payment, and had exactly zero clients lined up. Yep. I was living the dream! Fast forward a couple of years… I’d been growing my marketing business for a while and although work was coming in, the projects were small. Lots of handholding for clients who had neither the budget nor the sophistication I was accustomed to. I was frustrated and hungered for better clients and better work. I was doing all the “right” things but attracting all the wrong people. One day, I sat in my office, completely fed up. I was beyond frustration. More like anger and

disgust! I had to do something. So I had a little chat with myself that went something like this… “I know I can do better work than this. I used to handle way bigger and more complex projects at my corporate job and my clients loved me! They relied on ME to guide them in their marketing – I have solid experience and more business savvy than most other agency owners I know. Everything else is in line for my success, I just need the clients and the work to show up.” The next day, I was having lunch with a client and had decided to pitch a project to him that would bring in $3-5000 – a modest project but bigger than I’d been getting. After exchanging the usual pleasantries, he said something that to this day amazed me. He told me he was going to give me a project that ended up netting me well over $100,000! I don’t know if I looked outwardly shocked, but on the inside, I fainted, then did the biggest happy dance ever! I was flabbergasted.

Was it a coincidence that I had affirmed my value to myself the prior day? Possibly, I thought. But as the years passed, this type of “ask and you shall receive” approach to getting stronger clients worked again and again. I was a convert. I started paying attention to what I was telling myself….noticing how my situation aligned with the conversations I was having in my own head. BAD ATTITUDE

RECEPTIVE MIND

The biggest, most stubborn gatekeeper out there doesn’t sit behind a receptionist’s desk or on the other end of the phone. It stares back at us when we look in the mirror. We block our success with our thoughts and attitudes. We may SAY we want to succeed, but then find ourselves focusing on the problem instead of the solution. When we get really honest with ourselves, and stop placing blame on external forces (like clients or the economy), we make room for the magic to happen. Getting into the mindset of total commitment and enthusiasm about our success and taking action accordingly will jumpstart business unlike any other change we make.

As little girls, we spent most of our time trying to imitate Mommy (or Daddy). Then we tried to look like we were told we ought to, before entering the explosive revolution of our teenage years where we worked so hard to look and be the extreme opposite of everything we’d previously had imposed upon us. The years passed by… and with that passage of time, the luckiest amongst us found what they thought actually defined them as an individual. Then one day you decide to create your own business and history starts repeating itself all over again.

think will work or what you think you should do because what you became a true master of is ‘look like that, feel like this, be like that’…. but were you ready to take on the major transformation that your business would require you to reveal in order to succeed? Many women try to define their differences based on what they do instead of who they are. The best way to stand out in the midst of the crowd is to first bring to light the real you then build and secure your position around that. This way you’ll be true to yourself, authentic, innovative AND you will be seen! Otherwise, you’ll once again be that little girl trying to fit in according to the criteria of others and not her own. Just like Marilyn Monroe said, get yourself the right pair of shoes and you can conquer the world. Don’t try to wear high heels if you only ever put your feet in tennis shoes….why? Because you won’t be able to walk! Well, the same goes for your business. Don’t try to be a

‘diluted’ version of someone you admire, dare to become a ‘true’ version of who you are that many will look up to. Because, the only way to be different is to be yourself. It can take time to discover yourself, but believe me, your business will give you a real kick in the pants if you don’t. Today, the world is not the same place. Today, you have the right to be, to express, to show who you are in any which way you desire. It’s scary - you bet! But don’t you think that it’s all worth it? It certainly is not the right time to be humble and stand in the corner. Dare to be bold, dare to reveal yourself, dare to stand up and speak out. You have so much to share, you have a mission to accomplish, so don’t give up on all the people you are called on to serve.

Every one of us is a Sleeping Diva. Make room in your life to allow her to wake up. Then when she does, ask her: “Can you help me build and grow my business?” The Diva in you, is the Real you, the EVERY ONE one who will lead you to OF US IS A success. The Diva is the SLEEPING source of your creativity, DIVA. your imagination, your innovative power. Don’t shy away from your ideas. Just because nobody else has done it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. The Time of The Diva is now……… Put your best foot forward and start walking…. Letting others help me along the way has also been super important. Allowing others to guide me, and mentor me. Having femtors who’ve been in business has been a blessing.

I FOUND MY COMMUNITY AND SUCCESS FOUND ME! by Angela Gower-Johnson

All my training was based on my belief that my gift in life was to help people who had experienced some sort of abuse. I didn’t believe that there could be another way or anything different. For me it was a given with no movement for change. For many years I was trying to support people in changing their circumstances, their beliefs or their lives by sharing the tools that I was continuing to train in. It felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. Around ten percent of my clients would take the information I shared with them and run with it. It was only with those people that I would experience an amazing sense of peace, ease and accomplishment. Just over four years ago how I worked changed and then my life changed. I found Facebook and was playing around with it as a way to

connect with people and possibly find clients. I felt guided to send this man, someone I wasn’t even friends with a message on Facebook. He responded to me and asked for a session. This completely freaked me out. At the time I thought of myself as a ‘reader of energy’. I in no way felt comfortable talking to him as I believed in the Law of Attraction and considered myself the antithesis of a business woman. For me business was something that confident, organized, educated BUSINESS people did. I didn’t have a clue what was business, all I knew was that it wasn’t me and out of my realm. Despite where I was functioning from, my fixed points of view and limitations I agreed to give this man, who I later found out was internationally known for his achievements on Facebook a session.

The session with Mr. M started with hesitation and my own personal fears and reservations and at some point and time I just let all of that go and started being me. I was able to support him with not only some personal issues but also with a problem he was having with his business. I was able to give him more clarity and insight while the whole experience changed my whole world. With that one call I learned that I loved working with people that were in business! I learned that there was an energy there that I could play with, manipulate and dive into. It was fantastic! I will always be grateful for following my intuition and writing to a complete stranger and having it change my business forever. That one call with Mr. M was all it took for me to realize that I was in the wrong business. From that first day I started to change how I viewed

myself and how I looked at business and myself in regards to business. IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE by Sue Donnelly

I trained as an image consultant about 8 years ago and am still passionate about what I do. Although I’ve been trained by the best teachers all over the world, the content is pretty much standard throughout. You are taught to use a process in order to analyze and evaluate your client so that individual recommendations can be given on colors, clothing styles and accessories that best suit her/him. Along with the majority of my colleagues, I never questioned the efficacy of this method and followed this way of working for many years. One day, I came across an article about the word ‘excellence’. It questioned what excellence really meant and featured interviews from a number of people with their thoughts on the subject. It was quickly obvious that one person’s idea of excellence can differ completely to someone else’s.

After reading this article, I suddenly became aware that I was short changing my clients. By giving them access to everything I knew, I wasn’t finding out what was really important to them. In fact, I was completely overwhelming them with too much information, most of which they didn’t need. Even though I had truly believed that I was providing excellent service, I could see that this just wasn’t the case.

FROM THAT DAY ON I DEVELOPED A NEW WAY OF WORKING.

I needed to consult not teach. As image professionals, we are shown how to teach our clients the basics of style but that’s not why they come to us. Most have other issues, often emotional, that show up via their wardrobe. My role is to find out what they are. Only then

can we plan a course of action that fits their personal preferences and provides the best solution. Sometimes it’s finding two or three outfits to wear day to day, other times it’s organizing an entire closet and weeding out limiting beliefs. Questioning and listening are key, not telling. Without that, there can never be excellence on a personal level. I’ve gained new insights often questioning what I originally learned. Sometimes colors that shouldn’t flatter look amazing, short hemlines can be youthful on an older woman and neutrals don’t have to be boring. A creative spirit, I was unaware of previously, has resulted in my own style becoming quirky, individual and sought after. Needless to say, I’m no longer blindly following the ‘rules’ that were laid down for me in my original training.

WHENEVER WE NEAR A MILESTONE BIRTHDAY, THERE IS ALWAYS A SENSE OF ANXIETY.

FOR THAT SPECIAL EDGE

FABULOUS INSIDE OUT When you think about what to wear, don’t just think about your body, it’s shape and coloring but take into account what makes your heart sing. Which colors call to you? What type of fabric - smooth and silky, rough and textured, fluffy and comforting? Do you want to add some fun to your outfit or do you prefer elegance and grace in your clothing. Where are you going? What are your audience expecting? Are you comfortable? Your clothing acts as a visual statement representing you, your uniqueness and your values. It’s only when you put ALL these elements together that you have a closet full of clothes that you can love - and more importantly, that can also love you back!!

FEEL SUCCESS Got some beliefs that are holding you back from creating a successful and thriving business? Maybe you don’t feel like you deserve success…or that you don’t stack up to the other experts. We all have a few of these rogue hooligans floating around in our heads – and make no mistake, they’re troublemakers! It’s time to start doing some housekeeping in your head. First, write out a really clear and detailed description of who you want to become and where you want your business to be. Include everything you can think of – the balance of your bank account, how you dress, what your daily schedule looks like, who you are friends with. The more detail, the better. Next, imagine you are already there and write out in as much detail as you can muster what it feels like. Are you proud and confident? Are you walking around smiling from ear to ear like a teenager in love? How do you feel when someone asks you what you do for a living? Get really specific.

“Build it and they will come” and on a more personal note, “Be yourself, and they will come.”

Once you have these two descriptions written out to your liking, keep them in your workspace. Take five minutes at the beginning of every day before you read any email or check voicemail and read through them. Really take some time to feel what it’s like to be where you aspire to be. One of my favorite authors, Dr. Wayne Dyer, refers to this as “thinking from the end” – experiencing yourself and your life as you wish it to be and shifting your beliefs to correspond to your vision. It’s a simple but powerful way of expanding what you believe is possible.

SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE Do you have an irresistible free offer successfully growing your list/tribe and a follow-up-keep-in-touch method building/nurturing a mutually rewarding relationship with them? One of the most underleveraged areas of online business is the free offer/freebie/ pink spoon. I call it an IFO which stands for Irresistible Free Offer. Your IFO impacts list growth, attrition AND monetization. And whether people first discover you through referral or Google search, you get one opportunity to make the best first impression possible so that your prospective clients invest in you with the most common form of currency online – their name and email address. Mess this up and a turtle could crawl faster

than your list is growing. And all you’ve got is a pretty opt-in box gathering virtual dust – kinda like your bank account! Ouch! (Sorry, just telling it like it is.) The best IFOs address an immediate and significant struggle that your ideal clients are facing and, helps them to solve it. It’s not about what you think they need, it’s about what they are searching for right now. Now you might be thinking “Well if I help them solve their problem they won’t need me anymore” and actually the opposite is true. First, an IFO done well helps your ideal clients get from A to B on the path from where they are now to where they really want to be. It provides evidence of your ability to help them and this builds TRUST. Next, it’s important to understand that each time you help a client solve a problem, another will emerge. Your job is to pay attention and uncover what’s next for your most ideal client and you’ll be right there with the solution every time (Seriously, they’ll think you can read their mind!). One of my 2011 clients helps entrepreneurs with social media. The #1 burning question of her tribe was “What do I say on Twitter”. So she created an “IFO” on this topic called “Tweets that Rock: How to Speak Your Business in 140 Characters or Less”. And, by staying in contact with her clients she also has a list of common “next steps” that she can help them with which have become new products and services. See where this is going? So, what is a significant struggle you can help your ideal clients to solve? Invest time and energy in doing this well and they’ll stay on your list, they’ll be anxious for

more and thrilled to discover what you’ve got to offer next. Take this up a notch with a consistent follow up keep in touch method (like an eZine). You’ll be top of mind – their go to gal – with the next solution they need already lined up and perfectly positioned — timing, price point and ease of purchase. Oh and it doesn’t have to be an ebook... that’s just one of many examples. Look around, see what you find, what do YOU like in terms of formats? I created the Rebelpreneurs Manifesto as a visual freebie (and is available for purchase as a physical poster).

To effectively use this tool learn what a ‘Yes’ feels like and what a ‘No’ feels like. The more you use and practice this tool the easier it will be to know what actions will actually be personally rewarding, financially rewarding and fun. It is key to know the outcome when investing your time, money or energy into something. Those three things are valuable and precious. A ‘Yes’ is always lighter, freer, has an expansive sensation. A ‘No’ can be heavy, restrictive, finite, limiting and can be uncomfortable.

SLIP INTO YOUR CLIENT’S SHOES

Integrate your ideas as much as possible in everything you do. This way you’ll keep the passion alive and your clients will see you as authentic, honest and trustworthy as you truly are.

We all have many ideas and more often than not, they just vanish into thin air from our memory banks before we could even suss out if they were actually worth anything. Don’t let your ideas fall asleep. Give them a big dig in the ribs, wake them up and get digging. How could you use your ideas to answer your client’s most pressing issue? The answer to this question is the key to your success. It will allow you to express your passion in a way that is true to yourself whilst being completely different from everybody else. So how can you evaluate if your ideas are worth all the effort?

Don’t let fear stop you. If one of your ideas doesn’t work, remember – change course correct, and try again. Be ready to trip over from time to time, so you can pull yourself back up even higher...your setbacks are the trampoline to bounce you onto the next step up. Christine Marmoy

AS WOMEN, YOU ALL HAVE AN ADVANTAGE, BUT IF YOU DON’T USE IT IN THE RIGHT WAY, IT CAN BE A HUGE PITFALL; HOWEVER, YOU CAN COLLABORATE. Why? Because you are born that way. Running a house, raising children, organizing your home life – they all require these collaborative skills that you are so good at. So why does it become a downer when you decide to don your business hat? Let’s see how it works together. When you run the show in your own home, you decide, you call the shots, things are done your way, and almost everything follows your

set of standards. You have the feeling that you can control ‘almost’ everything that’s going on. Now, try to remember one instance when things got out of your control under your own roof (we all go through that from time to time), and you most likely lost it! Do you know somebody who could definitely use the help of a cleaning lady but who categorically refuses because she believes it won’t be done the way she wants it done?! Being a woman you are great at helping others, you like feeling needed, useful and dishing out loads of TLC and receiving love in return (I’m not saying that’s why you do it, but remember I’m a woman, and we need to feel loved). Now, when you run a business, you’re faced with the same scenario. You do it all by yourself, you trust only your standards, and nobody is going to do it better than you. But now, in a business situation, the ROI cannot be calculated in love, it doesn’t work that way. Do you start seeing the gap opening up here?

So how can you use your collaborative skills in a way that will help you build and grow your business without falling into the ‘I need love and to be loved’ trap?

YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT YOUR LOVER, YOUR KID OR YOUR FRIEND Although your business may seem like your baby, because you are trying to give birth to something that comes from inside you….it’s not a living, breathing entity made of flesh and blood. You need to respect your business, your partners and your clients but you don’t need to love them. The same goes for the reverse scenario, they don’t need to love you. If that leaves you feeling empty at that level, well, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your business will never satisfy that need. You are looking in the wrong place. It’s like asking your kids to pay you each time you make dinner for them. That wouldn’t seem right, would it? That kind of love is wonderful, it allows you to be respectful, to be thoughtful, to be of service to others, but it should transpire in everything you do without being your currency.

ADVICE:

If you realize that you have a tendency to want to be loved by everybody including your clients and if, because of that, you have a hard time asking to be paid for your value, identify ways to fill up that ‘empty love bucket’ from outside your business. You could go off with your husband for a weekend. Revive the

passion in your relationship. Organize a fun activity with your kids. Now, don’t forget that you need to love yourself first. So, if you’ve been neglecting yourself lately, now is the time to get that all-important ‘Me’ time, it’s time to give some love to the woman you are. The more you feel in tune with yourself at that level, the more comfortable you’ll feel providing the best service to your clients and getting paid for it.

IT’S NOT YOUR BUSINESS OR YOUR LIFE, IT’S BOTH COLLABORATING TOGETHER Remember, you need love. Since you can’t find it in your business, don’t lose sight of your personal life. Your business is mainly a vehicle to allow you to embrace and enjoy the life you want to live. Having a business requires hard work, discipline and energy. You won’t last long, if you run out of steam and that steam will come from outside the business.

ADVICE:

Be realistic with your expectations. Start by designing the life you want, and then build your business around it, so both are collaborating together to ensure your happiness in its own powerful way. Now, bear in mind that expectations must be in tune with each other. This means that if you expect a high level lifestyle, you’ll need to make sure your business’s expectations can sustain that level. You’ll have to let go of certain things at some point in time, to make room for the new elements to make their entrance. In other

words, if you want to make 6 figures or 7 figures, it’s not going to be that simple if you want to work just 3 days a week. It’s up to you; there is no right or wrong answer, just awareness, choices and decisions.

LEARN HOW TO LEVERAGE THE POWER OF OTHERS (AND DO IT!) First and foremost, let me tell you there is no way in the world you’ll be able to build a business that allows you to live the way you want, if you try to do it all by yourself. Why? Because you don’t know everything, because you are not skilled in everything, because you cannot learn everything, therefore you cannot do everything and it will never become a reality. Don’t forget that today’s world moves at a very, very fast pace. So most likely by the time you feel knowledgeable enough to do something, your ideas will have already been taken on board by so many other people that you’ll give up before even starting! And here you go again, chasing after another piece of information, making exactly the same mistake.

ADVICE:

From your first day in business, consider collaboration as the best way to achieve results. And in terms of results here we are talking about clients and money. There are 3 areas of teamwork that you need to collaborate on to get results:

A. Team up with people who have achieved a bit more (or a lot more) than you so you can leverage their success. This can be done through collaborative work of all types: a hard copy book, a digital book, a Telesummit, a Coaching Marathon or even a Magazine, a Teleconference, a Joint-Program…. B. Team up with your clients. Which clients? The ones you have attracted from leveraging the power of others. What does that actually mean - team up with your clients? Innovate in terms of what you can provide for your clients. Just like you, they want results. What can you design and create that could help them achieve results while bringing you results at the same time? For example, access to a support group, a sharing blog, a contact introduction in their own niche. C. Team up with specialists who can help you implement all that so you better serve your clients, in a more professional way and especially faster. Start by hiring a Technical VA. I know, I can hear you….‘Oh, but I can’t afford it, I’m not making enough’. Well, let me tell you, it’s not a cost, it’s an investment. What’s the difference? A cost is something you pay for its usage but it doesn’t bring in any further value ($$$). An investment has a return, which means you pay out your money somewhere to give you back more money in return. See the difference? Now, let’s translate that into numbers, just for the sake of clarity.

Imagine this: You hire a Technical VA and you invest $500 to create the mini-site for your Telesummit. Now, because you’ve invested $500 into that Telesummit, let’s imagine that you generate $1500 in sales. Investment : $500 - Return: $1500. This gives you a profit of $1000. Next, because you want to go further and really build a successful business, you decide to hire another VA to handle all your administrative tasks and the communication with your partners and clients, freeing up your valuable time to focus on value for your clients; so you invest another $500. Because you now have more help, you launch another event and simultaneously you create a more advanced program. Let’s say that you get 10 clients for that wonderful program at $400 each. This means a return of $4000. Now, let’s see how much profit that represents. Remember you had an initial profit of $1000, which you invested into the Technical VA ($500) and the Administrative VA ($500). So basically you’ve made a profit of $4000 without a single cent coming out of your own pocket.

LEARN AND DO IS THE NAME OF THE GAME

As a business owner you’ll be learning something new every day, you’ll be questioning yourself, your business and your vision on a daily basis. Now the difference will always stem from the implementation. Are you doing what you’ve got to do? Are you setting things in motion? Are you learning AND doing? There is no point in becoming a ‘professional student’ if you’re not going to apply the knowledge you learn. This is a strong breaking point. Many people invest in learning and never make the transition to the ‘action’ step on the board game of business. Of course action means risks, it means work, and it means uncertainty, but ‘no action’ just has one result, that is ‘no result’!

You are so powerful, more than you imagine. We, as women, are created to give birth, to bring new lives into this world, which is one of the most amazing achievements for mankind. And risks, uncertainty and some work are also involved. So, what makes you think that you cannot give life to your business? And don’t think for a minute that you need to have children to be able to have a business. My point here is that we, as women, are conceived to be able to do it….so there is nothing in this world that should stand between your desire and your power. Let yourself loose on the world and make your mark!
